You ignored the important role of air filter, because air filter controls dust and dirt to get into the engine which prevents the sludge and maintain the viscosity. and due to dust and dirt which become more sludge then performance of oil decreases and engine needs new oil.

Explanation of viscosity of the oil is completely wrong. 0w20 doesn’t mean the oil will have viscosity equivalent to the viscosity of water at cold. Oils have always greater viscosity than water at any temperature. Secondly is was also said that 0w20 means that the oil will get thicker after the engine is started and it heats up. This is also completely wrong. The viscosity of oil always decreases with increase in temperature irrespective of oil grade. The decrease in viscosity for oils with lower end grade will be larger than the oil with higher end number. E.g 0w20 and 0w40 will have almost similar viscosity at cold temperature but 0w20 will have lower viscosity than 0w40 at high temperature. But the viscosity of both oils at high temperature will be lower than the viscosity at low temperature. Please make corrections to guide people properly.

I change my car's lube oil even as after 6 months but no contamination or significant viscosity degradation. No volume decrease no avg problem. Just care for your engine and always have a look on leaks under the hood.

Firstly.. Mobil 1 is a subsidiary of ExxonMobil, a multinational company from USA. The correct term is, engine oil. Also. W means winter & the number on left is the viscosity grade at 40° C while number on right is the viscosity at 100° C. Mineral oils are meant for mild driving habits, otherwise it oxidizes & acidifies & forms sludge. Synthetic oils are expensive lekin aap ka engine aap ko dua day ga, not to mention aap aggressively chala saktay hain without sludge formation. If you love your car, synthetic is the only way to go!
