This is a sales recording of a $7,000 website from last year. This was originally shared on my training groups, but I thought you might enjoy it here. This is the exact method I use to sell websites and a good example of a simple and easy sales call.

I am currently working in construction and am slowly trying to build up my web development skills and move into freelance. Its without a doubt in my mind its a far better value for owners of these kind of companies to have someone manage the site for a fixed price of a couple hundred dollars a month rather than trying to do it themselves. They are constantly distracted by phone calls and meetings and all the other factors of running a business , why add managing the content of their website to the list of tasks? In the end it would only lead them to either neglect adding content or do so In a hurried way. Having it done by a professional will guarantee CONSISTENT quality which is key to a good website and company image.

Anything above 2-3K you must focus and sell on the VALUE.If you bring in new leads/customers how much is that worth to your client?
@JackTheStrippa
@JackTheStrippa 3 года назад
Ive always thought its dangerous to let the customer dictate price before youve offered value. This is a warm lead so slightly different but if someone was to quote $500 it then becomes a battle for you to convince them to get to the $4000 which is yiur standard pricing. You also get the hagglers that want to slightly low ball you. Ive always found its better to provide value and give them a region of how much what they are looking for usually costs and then ask them what their budget is further into the conversation. Plant the seed and then question later down the line so their answer is influenced by said seed.

Very nice job. I am a beginner and one thing I definitely have no idea is for example, what does a $3000, $7000 or $10000 website even look like? I am sure for all beginners what to charge and what is expected is unknown... Any advice on how we can get a better idea?? thank you.
@FoxWebSchool
@FoxWebSchool 6 лет назад
Good question. A sites budget is related to the amount of resources needed to get the (hopefully) desired result. So there could be a very large budget but the site could be really simple design BUT one that is highly effective. So when starting charge more based on the cost to you. This is fine as you learn. Pick an amount that covers your time and energy in making the site. As you get better though you start to charge on the value you add. It might only take you a short time to make but you know from experience they will get massive results so you charge based on the value. When you get to this point you will know it (because its based on past successful results).

Depends on the project. Both have pros and cons. I work with a lot of businesses that don't need constant updates so HTML works great. Its maintenance free and loads fast. If someone wants updates, more interactive features, a search feature etc then wordpress would be the way to go. It really comes down to the specific project.

I love your videos but I'm a little confused by this one. You make a big sale but don't ask any of the 31 questions that you list in another video. You also don't use spin. So are spin and good questions not really that important?

The questions always change - the 31 are just good examples of questions. Spin also is just a framework - once you get it you don't have to strictly follow it. But if you are new to selling they are both great places to start.

You said email them right after with some details about the call and the invoice which makes perfect sense... wondering if in the summary you talk about next steps like for getting the content you need. I only recap what was said and include content to help me close the deal. So whatever I send is to close the sale. Anything that takes away from that (which would usually be technical / process style content) waits till after I am paid. Until you get that deposit don't make things more complicated than they have to be. Keep it as easy as possible for them to make the decision to hire you. The rest can wait.

Hi. Nice video. I'd like some advice plz. I learnt the basics of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery. Now I want to start Freelance Web Design for small local businesses using WordPress. I will start using Google Maps to find clients who have no Website or with bad Website's. Then offer to build them a new Website, charge a set-up fee and then charge monthly to cover the cost of hosting, domain name, maintenance and so forth as a means to get regular income. I am confused and thinking of taking advantage of the Black Friday sale to get the DIVI Wordpress Theme and Builder for 1 year and get a refund within 30 days if I'm unhappy. But I am not sure, I need some solid advice. Is this a good business idea? Will DIVI be enough for small local businesses that want a Mobile Responsive Website? Are the Website Packs enough that DIVI offers? I also want to start some Niche Blogs then monetize them after bringing them traffic. But I am worried that these WordPress Page Builders such as DIVI have major flaws, I don't want to be in a position where I can't finish websites or they stop working or have major flaws. I just don't know the limits of what I can and can not do, I'm nervous and just want real serious advice to move forward. So what do you think? I'd appreciate your advice. Thank you.

Hey, I don't give out that info for sales calls like this - it isn't fair on the business and usually ends up with them getting a ton of emails/calls.

@@FoxWebSchool Oh right, true didn't think about that, thank you though 👍. If you don't mind me asking...Are you more of a template kinda guy or do you prefer coding from scratch?

Why is HTML better than using themes.
@FoxWebSchool
@FoxWebSchool 4 года назад
If it is better depends on the job - sometimes HTML is right and other time it doesn't make any sense at all. Depends on the project and the client's needs. In general, though HTML is really fast and very simple to set up - so when it is possible I like to use it.
