Good job on this video! Hope you don’t mind me adding... 1. Get a good shot in the daylight, clean, crisp and a plain or well staged background. Get down on the level of the rabbit. Show off the rabbit’s physical characteristics or personality. 2. Make your description clear but not stuffy. Light humor can help soften all the listed details especially for pet sales. (Sex, breed, coloring, age, expected weight, temperament, pedigree if applicable). I highlight my temperaments and coat coloring since I raise silver fox for meat breeders and random mixed Rex’s for pet quality. 3. Phrase your ad in a way that discourages irresponsible pet owners. Be clear that you value your rabbits and want them to go to the best homes. You will have MORE enthusiastic buyers that will better research their purchases and be happy with it VS Easter bunny sales that end in returns or dead rabbits. 4. If you are in an area with militant peta types and you are selling meat rabbit stock, you can be subtle about it by using emphasis on weights and information about mothering and litter size. (Minimizes the crazies and appeals to both farm and pet sales). 5. Spell check! If your writing is sloppy, what does that say about your rabbitry? 6. If you have a bad feeling about it, don’t sell. Craigslist is my favorite. Lots of great sales there. I refuse to play games on Facebook. I know I’m probably missing an opportunity there but I’m ok with that. (It IS the devil 😂) I don’t advertise at my home address because there are too many crazy people in the world. As things get nutty I would rather keep the location of my rabbitry quiet.

*** I should qualify that I am in middle TN were things are a little slower and a lot of people use craigslist. I don’t know that it would work in more urban areas or other states as well. Most every litter I am able to sell all my kits through craigslist.

I have to agree. My rabbitry is still newbie status (extreme heat really limits our breeding window) and I made an Instagram for it, and will eventually have a RU-vid channel where I address the extreme heat and its various issues, but Facebook is just yikes.

Good points except the ridiculous rules of ANYTHING animal related on facebook. I even got listings for "natural fertilizer" from my rabbits shut down. Seriously though, love your content, been watching for a while now, finally commenting :)

It makes it hard when potential buyers are very pushy to get a good deal. Do you ever turn people down, has that ever happened to you?

In the beginning, I experienced the most pushy people when we sold cross-bred rabbits without Pedigrees. These rabbits were lower quality therefore priced low. By raising the quality as well as the price, helped eliminate those type of shoppers and attract those willing to pay a premium price for a premium product. -Good question. How do we find out more on what's legal? My wife and I are considering raising them but I don't wanna put our selves in a legal bind

If you have an HSO check with them call your county find out the regulations and then go from there If you're in the city you can find out how many rabbits you can have that are considered just pets if you wanna have more rabbits you may need to be in the country

I don't know where else to ask this so I'm taking a stab in the dark....do know about/could you address GI stasis in rabbits? All the pet people talk about it and how common and horrible it is. I have never heard a meat breeder talk about it. I feed 100%pellets and haven't had a problem. Do other meat breeders have an issue with this? Or is it something unique to how pet owners raise their rabbits? Thanks

I'll put it on the list and make a video about it thank you very much for asking. Several things can cause G.I. stasis but a great prevention food is Hay- but if you're using a high-quality pellet that has a good fiber content and not feeding a lot of junk that can cause blockages you most likely won't have any problems. Do u sell your rabbits alive or do you butcher it ? I was told that u had to sell alive .

You don't have to. Depends on your area call your county and check the regulations you may be able to process and sell up to a certain amount before needing a license to sell food.
