I hate sending money lol. I'm so paranoid. I always send a few small amounts as a test before sending a large sum. Thanks for the video, it was very helpful.
Thank you SO much. Now with the rumors coinbase might fails and go bankrupt I just bought a nano X and will follow this tutorial. This was so clear and concise. Thank you again :)
They not gonna go bankrupt, but why would want your bitcoin controlled by someone else….. control your own future… they safest place on earth your bitcoin can be is with YOU!!!!!!.
Thank you so much for this video. I have managed to do it all on laptop without the use of the mobile app. Then all assets moved to Ledger Live and disappeared from Coinbase and I nearly had a heart attack as I thought they'd appear on both! But reading the comments has put me at ease (I think). For a beginner, I suppose I didn't know what to expect. :D
Haha you’re all good! As long as you sent it to the correct crypto asset address, you’re good. It will just take time to have it confirmed on the blockchain. Sometimes it takes a few minutes (ADA, LTC, DOGE) other times it can take 30-45mins (BTC for example). The first few times can really be nerve-wrecking.
3 yrs ago i believe i moved 1 BTC from Coinbase to Nano X but now when went to check i dont see it on NanoX...any suggestions, am i not doing something right or did it F it up and lost it😢
Great video! But there's a fee to move from the exchange to the wallet. Are there ways to purchase crypto and have it go straight to the hardware wallet to avoid the fees? Side note: I'd like to see a video about how you manage and account for these fees in your trading
Wow in your example you bought BTC right before the crash! Me too..... lol. Anyway, it was a very good video and I'm using your method now. Thank you!!
Haha I know. But as we all know, time IN the market is better than TIMING the market. Don't sweat the small stuff. Glad to hear that the video was helpful Alina!
Best video on the subject, it's a little outdated because coinbase changed the way things look, but I was definitely able to transfer to ledger with this instruction
Hi. First of all thanks for tips you are giveing in this tutorial. Question: In my ledger nano x you have 4 types of bitcoin addresses. Legacy, Native segwit, segwit and taproot. I already know what they are but what is the correct type of bitcoin address for transfer BTC from coinbase bitcoin address to my my ledger nano?? thanks
Love the video! I must admit I freaked out a little because the app doesn't show the "portfolio" button at all. I wasn't sure how I was going to see if the transfer happened! I clicked on something else and backed out of it. The amount of BTC I transferred just showed on the home page. 😅 Thank you for the clear and easy to follow instructions.
Hello, best video on this subject thus far on RU-vid. I have looked substantially for information about the fees associated with the transfering of btc from coinbase to my wallet (ledger nano x) and have not found a clear answer to it. Is it fixed fee or a percentage based fee. What about if I transfer back from ledger to coinbase, any fees there too? Thank for the great work you're doing to keep us well informed!
Appreciate the comment! Yes there will be fees when you send to the Nano X and back. It's called a "network fee" or "gas." It's percentaged based but also depends on the congestion of the network. BTC is very cheap to send back and forth on the network (unlike ETH). The larger amount of BTC you send, the smaller percentage of a fee. The best way to see how much you'll be paying is to start setup a transaction and get to the "preview transaction" screen and it will tell you how much.
THANK YOU!!! I appreciate you doing these vids & educating people on crypto & how to safely store them. Please do a similar vid on trezor T. Thank you again!
Yes glad you figured it out! Most platforms will let you know IF you are about to send it to an incorrect blockchain address (like in your example). Some don't which is why I personally ALWAYS double check myself before sending... I make sure 1) I'm sending ETH to an ETH address, etc and 2) that the address itself is correct and not missing any numbers/letters.
2 questions. Now that i have my crypto is it still gaining interest when the market is high even if its not on the app? And also can i transfer my bitcoin back to the app when im ready to sell? Or how would i go by selling when im ready since its now on my ledger
Think of your crypto assets like gold or silver. Whether it's in your possession or at a bank, the price of that asset still fluctuates with the market... same here whether it's on an Exchange or on your Nano X. You'll need to send them back to an Exchange (Coinbase, Gemini, Kraken, Binance, etc) to sell them. You can also sell them through Ledger Live but I've seen nothing but extremely high fees on Ledger Live.
You're Goated Crypto Blick, your instructions were easy to understand and replicate, with that being said I intend on sharing your video to help onboard others.
Thanks, finally saw what we were doing wrong. Have to try it now. Once transfered I guess checking it later is easy? Iphone won't accept nanoX, I guess there are adapters?
Nano X works with the iPhone, you have to use BT though. Ledger needs to up their game so people can plug in their Ledger to their iPhone, but I imagine the issue is with Apple not allowing just anyone to do that.
@@CryptoBlick we have been trying to use our MacBook Air (M1 2020), bring up the Coinbase account, ledger live with nanoX "ready" but get stuck connecting to Coinbase from LL. I'd love to get you on the phone to walk through the last steps to transfer BTC to the nanoX because it's not accepting the long nanoX address in "send" on Coinbase, it wants an email address. Any ideas?
Can this be done on 1 device like iPhone for everything moving from exchange to get wallet address or can’t you switch apps ? Don’t want to put this info on shared computer that’s why
thanks for this video. A question pleas ; once you move the crypto in the ledger you can't trade it in coinbase anymore ? you need to move it back from the ledger to coinbase again ?
Hey I'm glad you enjoyed it! At this time I don't offer training. Is there anything specific that you were wanting to cover? Might add it to my future video list.
@@CryptoBlickThanks for your reply, I have a small question: I tried to view the amount of crypto tokens stored in the Nano X hardware wallet directly e. g. Shiba Inu, but I cannot see anything. I only can see the amount of the tokens by using the Ledger Live app, is that the normal way to do it? Please advise me, thanks in advance. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
@@hazhang9435 yes that is the normal way to see the amount. It has always been odd to me that they don't allow you to see your amount on the LCD screen.
@@CryptoBlick Thanks so munch for your advice Sir! You are a true Guru of the Cryptos. I've already learned a lot from you.I am sure, I will learn more from you.
Matt, Hi Thank you for you valuable information. I have a question. I wanted to send my QNT from Coinbase to my Nano X. But I noticed next to QNT it also said *Ethereum* 🤔 What does that mean? (Didn’t say that next to BTC when I sent it...)
Great question. No you can not. The new Ledger STAX you’ll be able to. I have a video on that coming out next week as to my thoughts on the new product.
Excellent tutorial, just one quick questions. Now that you keep your cryptos or all your portfolios in ledger how do you buy and sell them? or can you still buy and sell them? or this ledger is only good if you want to HODL them. Thanks
Glad the video was helpful! You can use your Ledger to JUST Hodl or you can buy/sell within Ledger Live. I don't recommend buying/selling on Ledge Live because the fees are massive compared to other Exchanges. If you ever want to sell your crypto assets that are on your Ledger product, just send them back to your preferred Exchange and trade/sell there.
Yes, you will always pay a network fee to send your crypto assets whether that's to an Exchange like Coinbase, a friend's hardware/mobile wallet, or to another hardware wallet.
Still so scared to move my crypto over to my nano X. I got locked out of a wallet a couple months ago and have severe PTSD. I dont want to make another mistake and lose more. But I also don't want it sitting on exchanges. Being your own bank is stressful lol
Totally get the hesitation there! What wallet brand were you locked out of? If you're not comfortable with a hardware wallet, try a mobile wallet first.
You can take a look at the supported coins here: www.ledger.com/supported-crypto-assets Right now ADA and VET aren't supported on Ledger Live. You have to use other wallets at this time.
Can you use Ledger Live desktop to generate address and send on Coinbase app on iPhone? Can’t copy and paste but could email copied address so I can paste to phone app.
The most popular option is to send it back to an Exchange and sell it there. I did a video on this here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g9R2Vl0wQPo.html
Thank you for the tutorial! Saved me a whole bunch of time! Quick question so when I try to send my btc from Coinbase to ledger, do I get a new address to send that bitcoin everyone? I ask that because the second time I sent I see a different address than the one I sent previously to.
Ledger does this (and other platforms) for security purposes. You can still send to the same public address but using whatever Ledger provides you will help with breaking your transactions up.
Just use the same concept when sending to Coinbase. Grab the receiving address from your specific Coinbase wallet (ie. ETH, BTC, etc whichever you are sending) and place it in the "To" address field on Ledger Live when you're sending from your Ledger.
hello i am new with ledger i want to do staking but i do not have coinbase yet should i do an account, cuz i sow buying directly from ledger app have expensive fees. how do you do it guys
There are multiple reasons why… 1) not every blockchain will have the same fee (I’ve seen ETH get crazy high for example during the day and ESPECIALLY leading up to the Merge last year), and 2) the fee will fluctuate based on the congestion on that specific blockchain. Just remember that you can’t send BTC over LTC blockchain for example. BTC has to be sent over the BTC blockchain. You might already know that but I like to restate it to everyone so no one gets confused.
