Part of giving users a great experience revolves around personalization.
Think about big name apps like Facebook, Airbnb, or Slack. When you sign on, they welcome you by name and give you personalized suggestions. Doing so helps create a connection between you, the user, and the app.
So, even though there's not a real person addressing you by name, it still makes you feel a little more connected (which helps you stick around long-term).
You, too, can add an extra layer of personalization to your app.
When you send emails, for example (or when users send emails from your app), you can address people by name or send personalized information to multiple people at once, without having to manually go in and edit each individual email.
So, instead of having cookie-cutter, robot-sounding emails sent to multiple recipients, you can write to them like the individual people they are. It'll certainly be appreciated.
Beyond personalizing for a better user experience, though, being able to send individualized emails to groups of people at once is also great for things like reporting, when certain people need specific information, but you don't want to manually send a bunch of emails.
Of course, there are lots of other ways you can make use of a feature like this. Here are a few other times you might find it useful:
-When you need to customize content of an email for each person, like sending different links (or names, as mentioned above)
-When you want one recipient per email (as opposed to BCC-ing everyone or having all recipient addresses visible to everyone else)
