this WILL work with rom hacks too like renegade platinum and sacred gold! however, the pokemon will be illegal, but isn’t a huge problem if you know how to fix it
For MacBook users (and those who don’t want to hack their DS) this is a method I use: Things you’ll need: 1 DS and 1 3DS, R4 card, Micro USB, Poke Bank/Transporter, Desmune You’ll want to play your emulated game (only gens 4-5). Take out the Micro SD card and connect to computer. Put your emulated game onto the micro SD card. Put the SD card back into the R4 game, put into DS, trade that to your real game, and trade up to SV. I would share a link to the video I found but I don’t wanna steal the thunder from my guy! Great video. Subbed
You're good brodie, there are many ways to go about this.I always wanted to do this but couldn't find a video of someone breaking it done in a simple, quick tutorial type video. That being said, thank you for providing that method and subscribing to the channel 💯
i mean way on the video is cheaper you need 3ds and gen 6 or 7 game whit pokemon home sub but whitout modded 3ds you need same shit and GEN 5 - that cost alot
Great guide, it has it's uses, but I unfortunately now realise it won't help my problem. I lost my copy of Pokemon Black in a recent stressful house move, and have literally at least one game from every generation EXCEPT 5 now. And gen 4 is my favourite and most crucial to transfer from, but blocked out by nothing but the scalped prices of a gen 5 cartridge I want for nothing but transferring :(((( Honestly, I'm just relying on extracting all my PKMN files from the gen 4 games through an r4 card trade, and injecting them into a modded gen 6-9 game to bypass the limits of the official method. Would love to do it all officially, if it was accessible and affordable...
Thanks so much. I've been transferring my favorite Pokemon forward through gens since Fire Red. With this method, I can go back and play the old school games on my steam deck and still be allowed to bring them forward. Lord knows, it's easier then trying to hunt down some of the old physical copies now.
This is the first time I ever made a tutorial video, it’s out my comfort zone but I’m glad how it came out. 🔔Be Sure To Click The Bell Icon For Notifications When I Post,Subscribe For More! This is a good method for people who never got the chance to get the original games when they were still out and at a reasonable price. As long as you are holding yourself accountable and not doig anything bad and keeping it legit, there is no way that you get banned for "genning" these pokemon, you can however be disqualified from a VGC tornament if it doesnt pass their checks, either way there shouldnt be any pokemon that require you to transfer it from an old game into a new one, you could use the most recent game in order to create a VGC tournament ready team. (although people still gen, Im guessing its a longer process in order for the pokemon to pass the checks but Im sure its less tim consuming than grinding a pokemon to be competitive ready)
I think another easy method would be taking the save file from the Emulator Game and storing it on your 3DS SD Card. Setting a manual path to that save file in PKSM. Open that save. Copy the Pokémon into the PKSM box. Open any 3DS Pokémon game in PKSM. Drag the Pokémon from the PKSM storage into your game and you are done. Probably a more friendly approach for people using Smartphone emulators or with few computer knowledge.
you can save time by just opening your sav for whatever you want to transfer to and opening the sav for the destination game in 2 different pkhx window then drag the pokemon across pkhex will convert it to a higher version automatically, and in the case with the gangar it was a false flag clicking the icon doesn't automatically make it vaild. you can also use ftp to transfer your save back and forth without removing the sd card.
I recently found a reddit post that shows how to do this and its possible without a hacked or custom firmware 3DS, it takes a couple extra steps but it does work
bro please don't point people to video's for how to jailbreak systems. the method for 3ds wont change anytime soon likely so it should be fine in this specific case, but most of the time you try to jailbreak a system. You shouldn't use videos due to them becoming out of date fairly quickly leading to steps that you can easily mess up, and potentially brick the system you're attempting to jailbreak. not saying this to be mean, apologies if it came off that way. otherwise I found this to be a very informative video. You were also very straight to the point, overall this is some good shit.
Thank you.I would like to STRESS that I am not advocating In any shape or form piracy of the Nintendo 3ds system,or any other Nintendo systems. I am also not responsible for whatever happens to your System. This video is for educational purposes Only.
alternatively, if you wanna avoid controversy, i just backed up all my important pokemon to their native gens by simply backing up my save file (witch checkpoint) and using the intended "official" ways to transport them to the newer games that of course requires actual cartridges, but now i can keep my gen 4 shinies in gen 4 via save file backup even after i transfered them all to home (it was a tedious 1 hour tho x'D) if you play on an emulator you can put your file on the checkpoint folder and then load it up to your cartridge
15:00 "Let's go battle a random Pokémon real quick." Gyarados: "Yeah that's gonna be a no from me, chief" Also might get my old 3ds out for this. Thanks for the vid :D
That would be easy too, but when making this video, I had in mind the people who wanted to bring Pokemon they had from older generation games,( Emulation or from the actual games) to the current generations.
i had tried to finish my playthrough but i lost track of what i was doing going back to it and am lost on the story so i gave up on it and assumed it was too late to try to move my pokemon. when does pokemon bank end again?
@@hedreamt9455 “Nintendo 3DS online services will be discontinued in April 2024. While Pokémon Bank can be used beyond that date, we encourage players to transfer their Pokémon to Pokémon HOME at their earliest convenience” I would say try to do this as soon as possible but I’m sure people will find ways to keep it going after online services are down
@@hedreamt9455 Nintendo said on Twitter that the server shutdowns this March wouldn't affect Pokemon Bank. But, GameFreak and/or The Pokemon Company said to move your mons to Home as soon as you can.
You can also load a .sav into PKSM on the CFW 3DS, move pokemon to PKSM's bank, then load a cart save, and move them to that save. It will convert generations. I move my cute charm shiny SS pokemon from a .sav to ORAS, then to bank. I play SS with NDS redirect on my 3ds cause I'm not taking that expensive cart out of the house!
@@todayidraw I think there are DNS servers you can connect to that should work with any copy of the game, real or fake. just look up "pokemon gen 5 wifi dns server" and someone should have instructions, me and my friend did it a few years ago to get mystery gifts and stuff. I think I still have the shiny giratina I got from it but I lost my 3ds so i cant play :[
Wouldn't it be more easier if you have pksm on your 3ds, you can install all the older gen on your 3ds and through pksm transfer to gen 6 or 7 and then to bank and then finally home!
You can do that as well, this method worked for me, and it didn’t involve diving into another program you had to know how to use.I had trouble using it on my 3ds and my IP address was not picking up while using pksm. So I figured a way to bypass pksm altogether
It would be great with a disclaimer that even if you make them “legal” the Pokemon Company will still ban you for life if you ever go to a tournament and have Pokémon from this method on your home or game, worst case scenario you could ruins someone’s dream on a technicality :)
I briefly mentioned in the video that using PKhex is Controversial 2:35, I DIDN’T know that using this or “genning” your Pokemon Could get you “banned” at VCG. That being said, My intention was not to have people make overpowered Pokemon, but a way to send your favorite Pokemon from emulators to The physical games you own. I haven’t played Pokemon in years before I made this video so I wasn’t caught up to a lot of things implemented, nor was I paying attention on how The VCG community was/is recently. If you are using this Method and get upset that you went to a VGC world tournament and got “Banned for Life” I think you should hold yourself accountable that “I used an third party application to manipulate these Pokémon”. I apologize for the confusion but for the ones using this for VGC play, be careful, Thanks.
There's nuanced info to that. A lot of cases (even way before the whole recent VGC worlds incident) where people were found to have genned Pokémon, either didn't know how to use PKHex correctly or had their pokemon traded in from someone that didn't know what they were doing either (I had seen someone kicked out in person from a Gen5 regional in Long Beach for this reason cause of a badly genned Garchomp way back then, my game was checked randomly and I had pokemon I modified and I was pretty much clean in the judge's eyes). There are methods to having legal mons and make it appear legit, but that varies from various pokemon to pokemon and how they are supposed to be obtained and it's easy to screw up in PKHex if you don't know what information you're supposed to punch in. That info isn't readily accessible which is why people get caught so easily if PKHex was involved. In the context of this video, you technically can get away with using pokemon transferred with this method in official tournaments as long as the pokemon from these ROMs they originated from are obtained as intended and editing as very little as possible(e.g. don't mess with any trainer or location data that doesn't need to be messed with) in PKHex. Any redundant checks in Bank and Home would ensure the Pokemon is all good to go assuming you also did a legal check with PKHex before sending the mon on it's way.
So I get all the way up until I need to export the save file on PKHex and its grayed out and it won't let me export the save file. For reference the pokemon I am trying to transfer is legal and is a pk7 file and I set PKHex's Blank Save version to Ultra Moon.
I have a Pokémon White Version 2 save from an emulator back in the days. I tried to convert it to be legal but it doesn't let me. PkHex keeps saying "Unable to match an encounter in origin game". Those Pokémon weren't encountered in game but rather through cheat encounter. Is there a way to legalize them? It seems every selection will not go through.
i do have a mon from blaze black that i went to master ball rank with it, it isnt hacked but i have 2 3DS and simply traded it to a normal game and did the normal tranfers XD
Maybe stupid question, would this work properly with something like radical red that has pokemon from the 3d gens in 2d sprite style? Ive got a shiny obstagoon in RR is love to transfer to my switch, but im curious if it would still work the way it does here
I noticed that sometime between gen 5 and 9 Gyrados experience group changed because it went from needing 400 some odd exp to level up to almost 1500 exp.
Hey, so In the process of making this video, editing, etc I was roaming around with My gyrados in Pokemon Violet. Its the Same Gyrados from Gen 5, I just unintentionally leveled it up in game in Violet.
@@FATSUMI Ahhh ok. I didn't pay attention closely enough then 💀. I thought there was some shenanigans going on with the game mechanics because I had never heard of a mons experience group changing like that.
I really hate to tell you this, but that isnt possible. You physically cannot transfer pokemon from a generation higher than the one youre transferring it to. Even if its a pokemon that exists in both games, theres coding that make it completely incompatible with older games Theres a reason why people always try so hard to bring their older pokemon to newer gens, rather than the other way around
hello dude finally i found this great video and this is what im looking for. i wanna ask something, what if i try to transfer it to HeartGold (Gen IV and its nds game) ? so i use custom frimware 3dsxL rn and im playing Poke HeartGold which is a NDS game in 3DS XL console. ofc there's "checkpoint" app on my 3dsXL. but it only show 3ds game only not nds game that i play currently. so what should i do rn ? thank you
I think you should get pksm since you have a 3ds.You can insert your heartgold Cartiage and use pmsm To send you pokemon from you respective Pokemon game save file.Hope this helps
idk how save works on emulators but for ds games you probably could put the rom with the save on a r4 card and trade what you want to pass to yourself on another ds, no jailbreak required
if you can transfer pokemon to the bank then nothing is stopping you from moving the pokemon to home. all the steps taken in this video SHOULD work on any DS game. maybe even GBA. probably an easy way to test would be firing up a GBA emulator and a nDS emulator to see if they transfer nicely then you should be able to tell if you can move it to a 3DS file and attempt to move it if it doesn't show up as illegal in pkhex.
I don’t think its possible to do directly, but there are people who have hacked switches running Custom Firmware trade bots that will accept pokemon files, so you could send it your .pk9 (whatever the pkhex extension for scarlet and violet is) and then go catch a bunch of trash mons to trade with the bot
I haven't tested it yet, but you may be able to if you have a moddable switch and a rom backup of the game and save file on an SD card that you can boot on there. Then, you can hopefully local trade it to a legit copy, and BOOM, emulated team on a physical cartridge. That's my goal at least, I'm hoping to use this method pretty much just to circumvent my lack of a gen 5 game, to inject my real gen 4 Pokemon into this SD card save file to just skip the incremental transfers altogether if I have to turn to roms anyway. Hopefully, I'll remember to update this comment with confirmation on if it works once I get time to try
It should, so a little back story, I Played Pokemon Scarlet on the ryujink emulator before I purchased violet. I didn’t get too far in the game and transitioned to violet on my switch. Fast forward, I wanted to hack my switch but my model unfortunately cant be soft modded, so I brought a used older model switch and got to hack that. There is checkpoint for Switch, so I took my emulated save and sent it to scarlet that I had downloaded to my hacked switch. Luckily I was able to trade Pokemon with my self and get my Pokemon from my emulated game on the hacked Switch to my regular switch I think it might be easier to have a CFW switch and take your save file from your emulator and send it to your game. I KNOW this was a long explanation but I hope it helped.
@@Papooya To get the Pokebank app now you would have to get a Hombrew app to be able to download eshop applications after it being discontinued.I recommend installing Custom Firmware on the 3ds so you could access those Applications
I was wondering could u do this with emulated gen 3 games too? Like can I take my Pokemon from emerald on visual boy advance to desmume using the palpark?
Yes, you can. Most NDS emulators have Pal Park support. Just transfer them from your GBA save file and move them to HGSS using Pal Park by following the instructions depending on your emulator. Then transport them from HGSS to BW using the transporter once you unlocked the National Pokedex in BW by following the instructions depending on your emulator. Then follow this video from there.
@@justaguy6133 Or use PkHeX to move the mons straight to Gen 6 or 7. Then follow the video from there. You used to be able to move from Gen 5 to Gen 6 using Pokémon Bank (that's the way I lost all my Pokémon from Gen 5 and now they sit in my Gen 6 save...). Since you can't really do that anymore, this video just uses PkHeX to export Gen 5 to Gen 6. As you can see from the dropdown menu, you can export to and from pretty much any generation you want. You just need the mons to be in Gen 6 or 7 and be legal to transfer them to Pokémon HOME.
Simplest way is to just use PKHex to drag them from one save to another. Open up PKHex twice, drag each save into one of the open windows of the program, then find your Pokemon in your Emerald save, drag it to the DS game save's window and then save the DS file. Then when you play the DS game it'll be in your box or party or wherever you put it and PKHex will apply all of the necessary migration information for you (so if the met location is removed from Gen 3 to 4 via Pal Park, then PKHex will remove that for you and put the new filler information in the box).
Years ago I didn’t have one (back in 2011) so I would play the Pokemon games on my moms computer through emulators.i found the hardrive of that computer and used a adapter to do plug to my Pc now, and sure enough the files were there! I was excited, that was one of the key things that made me want to make this type of video.
@@TheAllMightyDestoroyah there is another method believe for newer gens(Look up PKSM on RU-vid). In terms of other methods beside using a computer PKSM might also help.
