I was just telling Chris at crosstalk how easy this is to do, takes like 30 seconds total to do both ends with rsyslog, but I really really like that greylog, I will be trying that out soon, great video.
I've been using Graylog for few months and it helps us to show all the blocked traffic handled by pfSense and firewall rules. We are still learning but with some automatication and sending alerts, Graylog will help with our security problems for sure.
Perfect timing, thanks! Hopefully you will do a video on the UniFi Network Application 7.2.91 update when it becomes an official release, lots of exciting new features in there.
Great video very helpful.. question, are you able to get syslogs from UniFi such as Source and Destination IP, location or country of log-in are happening. What websites are being accessed this is for security monitoring.
Hi Tom, this was a very useful video, thanks! Wanted to ask, are you sure that the controller is also sending messages to the syslog server in addition to the individual devices? I did set up "Remote logging" on the only Site on my controller, but I only get messages from the APs, not from the controller itself. Thanks!
did you ever figure this out too? I have a multi-site setup, and each sites devices are getting to their respective SysLog server... but ZERO from the controller ....
@lawrencesystems Can you create a video on how to set up software to monitor the wan usage? Trying to find a way to tell if I’m approaching my data cap, but it’s also useful to see the usage by app/client over a given period of time. Of course unifi can’t do that.
Good evening, is it possible to see the logs of users and sites visited. I'd like to set up a public wifi access but in France we have to have logs for one year. Thanks :)
I would use it if they would not lock "log view" behind a paypal. - "Log View is only available in Graylog Enterprise" What is log view? As the name suggests it shows you the log as if you would tail the file...... that is a feature you have to pay for in graylog. This is insane.
