Detailed instructions on how to service the new Zebco Bullet ZB3. How to disassemble and reassemble, clean and lube every part of the reel. For parts see: Contact Customer Service at Zebco.com Thanks for watching
You are by far the best that I've seen of step by step, on zebco reels, if it weren't, for you, I would be out so much money, buying new zebco reels? So Thank you 🙏🏿
You and me both! This is a well built reel. There are some weak points though. For example, the metal shield on the button can slip to one side and get stuck in the gear. Also, with a lot of use the rubber button will start to wear down and the plastic hinge can break. Other than that is is nice!
Shout out to Matthew hope you are doing well and enjoying life! Hey what's your best web site for buying Zebco part's? Remember your always welcome here in East Tennessee ! God bless !
The best place to get reel parts for a Zebco is Zebco.com. They will carry all the new parts you need. For older parts? That is a callenge. You can try www.mikesreelrepair.com/, however, they are in Canada and you'll pay high shipping costs and they may not have the part you need. Ebay is a good place to try as well. I wish TackleServices were still up, but it got canceled. :(
Great video Matthew! Question: Do any of the Bullet parts interchange with the 33? I have a 33 Platinum and it's the best reel I've ever had, but this Bullet really looks like quite a reel.
Do you have a Bullet? The AR is called a roller clutch and has 6 little roller roller bearing (they look like little round rods). Inspect that. It is possible those roller bearings are either missing or so gummed up they are not working. The part number is AN112-02. Call Zebco.com and order a new one and replace it and your reel will be back in business. Ask them to email you a Schematic for the ZB3.
I can't get my top to pop right off like you did. I'm holding my handle and turning the top in the intended direction the top is only popping. I think I damaged the reel....
I have see this happen twice before. Make sure the reel is not cocked and try again. If you cannot get the spinner cone off you will need to contact Zebco customer support and return the reel. It cannot be serviced when the cap cannot come off. They will replace the reel.
Unfortunately due to a company change, tackleservice.com and parts ordering online will no longer be supported. For parts, call Zebco at 1-800-588-9030 and they will be happy to help you. I have the part number you need. Do you have the original schematics and part number? Here it is: Part number: AN109-01 27B Thumb Button. See my other video on how to replace the rubber thumb button ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nBoUmEb6E14.html
Good afternoon Sir, I've watched your video a couple of times. I have an issue with my Zebco Bullet, the drag, even when set up to the max still allows line to come out. Is there a way to get the drag to tight dead the line? I noticed that since I purchased the reel new, i don't know if it is defective or is just the way the reel is, i own several Zebcos and all of them give the option to get the drag tight enough to the point where no line would come out. I've lost decent size fish due to this issue, even when the fish are tired, I cannot get them close enough to the kayak. Thank you in advance for your assistance!! Cesar
Brand new to your channel. My bullet is from early 90’s and doesn’t look like yours. Mine says 38 bullet and it’s all black. Is it the same type of reel? Also what is the red grease?
No, It isn't the same type of reel. There was a line of sleek reels that Zebco made call "Bullets". back in the 1990's. Zebco made a 357, 38 and a 22. Just a new design and about the same as a 33. The new Bullet that Zebco now makes is a very high end reel. All metal, 8 ball bearings, high speed and over $100 retail price tag.
hi there, my zebco bullet is brand new but not releasing the line efficiently when i press the rubber release button. i would not be competent enough to take it a apart like you did so well ;-)
It may have a problem with the push button. There is a metal piece that protects the plastic part. It may be bent out of the way. See if you can find a reel service center that can help you.
Just bought one, caught a fish gears started slipping the little brass screw was loose so backlash is out, ? How do you set the backlash on the gears.one other thing would white lithium grease be ok
See this video. That little brass adjuster on the right side should be screwed in until you feel the gear getting tight and then back off a little. Watch this video to see if this helps. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JVqKaF0XATY.html
Hey! Great video! I wonder if you have any tips on how to clean the drag system? On my bullet it is very uneven and I can not find what is wrong with it.
Unfortunately the drag on a bullet cannot be taken apart . About the best thing you can do is get some oil down into the washers. Or replace the draft assembly
Forgot to mention this reel was sold by bass pro and has my daughters name on the reel and is about 25 years old and trying to restore it for my grand daughter
Generally that means that something is gummed up on the pinion shaft. Either the shaft itself is gummed up in the frame or the pinion gear that slides on the pinion shaft.
L love your videos, but I do have a question. I have a bullet and it works great until I put the center head on, at that point the center head seems to be hitting on the spool, do you know how I can fix it!
Let me make sure I understand. Are you saying the Spinner Cone Assembly (center head) is rubbing against the spool when you use it? Or is something rubbing against the front cover?
@@brianhartmuller600 It sounds like the spinner cone assembly has gotten bent and is not turning perfect true and centered. You can order a new one but they are about $40 each. I suggest you take off the front cover and the spinner cone and then the spool. Then put the spinner cone back on. Turn your reel very slowly and see if you can figure out where is it out of balance. Perhaps have someone hold a pencil up close to the spinner cone lip and see what side touches the pencil as you slowly turn it. Then tweak it to one side (away from where it touched the pencil) and see if you can get it centered again. That would solve the issue.
The drag system on those is all one part. So I am a little puzzled where something went wrong. My only recommendation is to take the front apart again and make sure everything is put back together right. Something is missing. Is the spool locked in place correctly?
@@OutFishing13Matthew just took it apart again nothing is missing spool was locked but the drag reel still spins and never tightens or loosens the line 😕
Hey Mr. Matt! Just ordered a Zebco Bullet on Amazon! They were on sale for $75. There was several models to order and mine had the specific connotation “2017”. Could you shed some light on what that means? The newer models were $99
The ones on sale are were introduced around 2017. They are made with an aluminum body and front cone and rear cover. The new ones for 2022 are made from manganese and are just slightly lighter. It is called the Bullet MG. 10.9 oz vs 13.9 oz. Looks like the Bullet MG is a $140.
there's no way i can diassemble my bullet or omega , do you service and repair reels for people ? how much does it cost to service one reel and how does one pay you
@@toddedwards7909 I can do that, but it is generally a custom quote since it just depends on the reels. Contact me at MarbleGems@gmail.com You pay for shipping and return shipping.
Thank you. I did contact Zebco. They didn't have the bearing so they told me to send in my reel and they will send me a new one. She said the reel is so new that they would like to keep mine for studies.thank you.
So…. I own a Bullet and an Omega Pro zo3. When the drag engages and line "drags out” on the Omega, it makes a satisfying "clicking" sound. The Bullet drag is silent. What’s up with that?
There is a clicker on the spool drag system, check that it isn't bent down to far or gummed up with grease. Also, make sure you don't have any grease on the back of your spool. See the video at about 3:45 to 4:30 for a clear picture of the drag assembly. You can hear the clicker working on mine at around 24:10.
Thanks for responding so quickly! I checked the clicker and found it was broken. Since it was an Amazon purchase, I have initiated a return for replacement. By the way, I really enjoy your videos…. Keep up the good work!
@@billwendry that is good you can do that. The drag assembly is just one part on that reel. It isn't to expensive on tackle service. Glad you like the videos. I am trying to do weekly videos now. And also more modern reels as often as I can buy them.
They are two different reels and both very nice. Do you want a faster retrieve? If so, get the Bullet. If you are okay with a moderate retrieve the Omega is perfect
@@OutFishing13Matthew If you can't afford the Bullet or Omega Pro the Zebco 33 is a excellent reel the drag on this reel is just as good as the other two reels actually I like the sound of the drag better than the other two and all fisherman worth their weight in lures knows the sound of a drag screaming is like sex to us, I got lucky and Walmart had this reel marked down to 5 dollars so I bought the last two, but if you have the money the bullet is fine piece of machinery if not the 33 will serve you well
True. A lot more than your regular Zebco 33. But not as many as others. It can still be a little intimidating at first. I started videoing taking reels apart just so I knew how to put them back together.
Broke my bullet mg by turning the spinner head the wrong way now it wont come out just clicks when I turn it left so i guess is broken inside sucks Really liked this reel
@@OutFishing13Matthew thank you was thinking on contacting them hasn't been a year yet since i purchased it from bass pro shop when they came out so i hope i get a response from them thanks
