The RO hose goes through a solenoid that controls the flow of water. I also forgot to mention you need a drain under the tank for the RO waste. Cam

We do the same at the shop, I actually forgot this RO system was the old brand, the new brand we sell comes with the clear cartridge as standard. Cam

I usually change the resin, carbon and sediment trap 4 to 5 times as often as the RO membrane. We generally customise the RODI system to the water it needs to filter. Cam

I had planned to do the RO membrane, I just decided against it last minute. We’ll do it in another video at some point. Cam

@@GalleryAquaticaTV You can measure the TDS in the output water and change filters, but is there something likewise for an RO membrane that needs to be changed?

in other words: when do you know you have to change your RO membrane?

To get the best possible lifespan out of the resin technically yes, but the difference is minimal. Cam

@@GalleryAquaticaTV flushing has a minimal difference in between uses. But when you install a new carbon block it makes a significant impact to the resin.

I’ve always assumed the resin exhausts quickly on this system due to the stop-start nature of the auto topup system. Next time I might install a resin saver so I can easily flush the carbon without the resin copping the dust. Thanks for the tip. Cam

​@@GalleryAquaticaTV A tank that size should be stop starting frequently enough that the creep will not be significant. especially if main is only around 160tds. if its a lot higher than that creep would also be hurting it. but the sediment that comes off carbon is very intense and resin is only there to polish 5-10tsd its not designed to be smashed with carbon and other impurities. at the right tds level you can kill a resin within 3 hours. Give it a shot im sure it will help significantly. I have had long conversations with sentry water about this I am no expert but they have over 50 years experience and this is what they tell me. kind regards
