Love this. There's a bit of an old fashioned idea of a rhythm pickup and lead pickup, especially in guitars. Nice to hear a pickup expert saying to balance the volume of pickups evenly
Bass players been doing the balancing act for decades! Some have separate volume knobs/pots, others have a balance pot and others it's with switches. But what's with those guitars with 4 pickups taking up ALL the room between the neck and the bridge/saddle? Like WTF?
Thanks for the great video. Basic and too the point. I have a Squier Jazz Bass that needs a good setup but I didn’t know the details. Now if you could do a pickup height adjustment on an Epiphone Viola Bass video
Hi, I’m installing a Fralin JP bass pickup set. The poles on the long bridge pickup stick up different heights from the plastic housing - the four poles in the middle stick up more than the end poles. Is this normal?
Yes, just measure the top(bass side) and bottom(treble side)poll pieces. I would check online to see if those particular pickups have adjustable poll pieces, if not then I wouldn’t worry too much about it being abnormal
Dear Radioshop, I own a japan jazzbass, just like the one in the video and I did what you did, but I find the E and the G string louder than the A and D, I think because of the fretboard radius the middle strings are further away from the pick-ups than the E and G string, is my assumption right? And what to do about it? Thanks✋🏼
