I've been a diamond setter and designer for 40 years, never, never broke a diamond using this quick setting technique. They will chip 'if' they TOUCH each other while tightening the diamond next to it. Thank you for your concern, DON
question, if my eternity band prongs are slightly smaller than size of my stones, could they still be set? prongs were supposed to be 3.0mm but shrunk a bit to 2.9mm. stones are 3.0mm calibrated. i haven’t had a “seat” made for the prongs yet with a burr. just wondering your input on this.
does sifting plate and the diamond burr come in the sizes that matches your diamond size or do they only come in standard sizes? what are using to hold the ring while setting diamonds? Also what tool are you using to pick up the diamond to set it in the ring (it looks magnetic)? What is the difference between diamond shape burr and seat burr? is there a standard that one needs to be x mm smaller than the other?
