This time I show you how to set up a very simple Cage Feeder Rig which will help you to put more fish on the bank. Just to prove the point, I spent about half an hour fishing with the rig to show you how well it perorms. In the end I caught 2 carp and lost one which was foulhooked. (I came back with just a scale on the hook).
I now wish I had spent a little more time using the rig as it definitely seemed that it would out perform the Pole Line on the day.

Instead of using a split shot above the feeder, which if crimped on too tight creates a death rig try using small bead and float stop. Much safer!

Yep. If you need to get a bite, do something like having a cup of tea. Works every time. Lol.

Your homemade bait cages seem a lot better that the plastic ones for sale online. 👍 Great location and nice weather for the shoot. Maurice's mullet was a beaudy! 😁

Thanks John. Yes it was a lovely fish. There are plenty of big Mullet in that lake. I just haven't manged to catch one as big as Maurice's yet. I may just have to have a campaign to see if I can do it.

Glad I could help Ross. If you are in Australia, you probably won't have access to the Hook Links and Feeder Links i showed, but you can easily simplify the rig by having a loop where the twisled link ends and just using a snap link swivel to connect the feeder.

Good one Den. It's still too cold for me here in Sweden and the arthritis and remnants of a stroke don't like anything too cold. I fish wild waters and I don't think the fish have ever seen pellets or boilies. In your opinion do fish take to such baits straight away or should I continue with worm alternating with the boily or pellet? I do like the look of Den's lake.

Hi William. Sorry I haven't replied before. For some reason your comment was Held for Review by RU-vid. Not to worry though, I have found it now. To answer your questions, the wild fish here do seem to take the pellets quickly. I don't fish with Boilies, so I can't answer that one. I think you are right to continue with the worms, but keep trying the other baits until you have more confidence in them.

How do you find the drennan carp feeder rod Den? I’ve recently bought one and used it a few times. Seems to be a good rod for a decent price too.

Hi De292 289, I do think its a good rod, especially for the price. My only minor complaint is that they put the hook keeper on the left hand side of the rod, which is fine if you are right handed, but a real pain if your left handed. They could have just done what others do and put it underneath the rod. In all other respects, it is fine for my needs.
