Same angela, I even went to forums and they told me "research" when I went there because I couldn't find any good articles that answered my precise questions.. Thank god for this guy!
The head/control portion of the heater in not submerged, which is fine, what is important is to respect the min. water line indicated at the top of the glass heater tube.
What kind of life can the light on this thing generally support? Lps, sps, maxima clam, anemone? I would really appreciate a response I'm new to saltwater and I find lighting the most complex part of it. I'm sure this would help anyone wanting to buy this. Also would a cheap small little powerhead be beneficial to add in, or too much flow and only for the very most demanding additions and generally to stay away from? I see people saying light, circulation, and water quality are biggest factors for saltwater success and this guy only touched on water quality. Thank you so much I really hope you find the time to respond
I just bought a Fluval Evo 13.5 gallon aquarium. I'm thrilled to have it, but I can't find a PS2 Protein Skimmer anywhere for sale! It's impossible to find even online! Is there another protein skimmer I can use that is actually available for purchase?
I love the idea, but I'm about to go another direction because what is required for the tank didn't come with the tank. I didn't know this, and now I'm pretty pissed. I got taken bro!
Sorry that you feel that way, we do make it clear on the packaging that some devices like the protein skimmer are sold separately. The point is to inform our customers of the item while it is still possible to run your aquarium without one given that attention is paid to regular partial water changes. Here is the link to the dealer finder on our Fluval Aquatics USA website: www.fluvalaquatics.com/us/fluval-retailer/
I just ordered my Evo but I had a quick question. So I can use dechlorinated tap water or should I just buy a $50 AQUATICLIFE Aquatic Life RO Buddie Plus DI Four Stage Reverse Osmosis Deionization Unit 50 GPD?
If your tapwater is suspect then a R/O unit is a good idea, if it is free of nitrates, phosphate and other impurities then the tap water conditioner should be sufficient.
I have 2 questions regarding the Fluval EVO 13.5. 1. How well does the LED light hood support Coral growth? LPS? SPS? Mushrooms? Zoas? 2. Does the carbon sponge and bio filter stack come with the EVO?
Lexie, thanks for asking. When keeping SPS in particular it is important to understand what light levels the coral you purchased was grown under, some species of SPS would do well for sure. The others you mention with proper placement in the tank would be supported. It is important to remember that not only light supports a corals ability to flourish, water quality, composition and feeding for some species iis key and again, when considering SPS that will oblige the keeper to maintain a good selection of quality test kits, use a good source of water along with a quality marine mix and employ an aggressive partial water change frequency...remember that growing SPS in particular rapidly deplete the water of highly important carbonate content and calcium. Yes it comes with a filter foam insert and carbon, the protein skimmer and heater are not included.
Just checking : any reason why you are placing the skimmer in the 1st chamber and not in the middle chamber? The 1st chamber is where the tank water get "sucked out" right? Thank You....
The skimmer is located in the 1st chamber where the inlet grill is as is the cutout in that segment of the canopy. The foam filtration block in the second compartment consequently becomes a very effective bubble trap.
Thanks Buddy for your quick reply. Good point... I will do likewise for my setup... the filter media in the next chamber will be a good way to removes any micro-bubbles generated by the skimmer itself too.... that is your idea right?
fluval can you please find a single store in UK or Ireland that sells this 13.5 gallon evo, I've been on your website and the store locator won't find me a distributor, can you tell me is this aquarium available in Europe ????
anyone who has or had this tank. How do you feel about the light? Also How does it look without the lid having that black checkered effect across the rim? I cant tell if its a cool addition or gives it a less clean look.
Hi I like video am setting up my eco 13.5 I need more help I need more details for the skimmer and pump there’s claps ? And other little parts please thank you 🙏 😊joey
It is perfect for a nano reef tank. An added circulation pump may benefit some inverts and fish. Small nano tanks need to be lightly stocked with the right livestock, and there are many resources online to help guide you in making the right choices.
Please send an inquiry through fluvalaquatics.com, select the desired country and the contact page on that website. Germany in your case, here is the link for your convenience: www.fluvalaquatics.com/de/hilfe-fluval/
Yes it is however we do recommend using cured live rock in a marine tank for biological establishment, it is so effective we see no reason not to use it. A good protein skimmer is also something we always recommend in a marine aquarium.
Ok I bought some live rocks, they're on the way, the protein skimmer im gonna hold off on, but eventually might get one, just because I see good amount of ppl doing well without it
Hi Julius, some stockists are already carrying the EVO 13.5 gallon unit. Please refer to our dealer locator tool and contact the ones nearest you for more information: www.fluvalaquatics.com/uk/fluval-retailer/
Hi Brian, if by RBTA you mean red bubble tip anemone, we have kept them under this lighting. It would be important to ensure the animal has been exposed to a light level that is similar, the results might not be positive if moving it from a very high light environment.
Please reach out to the fluvalaquatics.com support page, start by selecting your country on the home page. If you are in continental Europe please contact our Hagen Germany option.
Hi, thanks for asking! Both the 5-gallon and 13.5-gallon versions are currently available in the US. Check with your local retailer, or use our Store Locator tool to find a retailer nearest you. We always recommend calling fist before heading out to make sure there is in-store stock. fluvalaquatics.com/us/fluval-retailer/
For corals that require a lot of movement around themselves, like soft coral that benefits from water current pulling waste away from themselves, directing the output in their general direction is better. For general oxygenation pointing at the surface is a good idea.
Noah, please use this link to the instruction manual posted on fluvalaquatics.com , we are sure you will find it very helpful: www.fluvalaquatics.com/media/bluemill/products-manuals/fluval-10531-evo-aquarium13.5g-manual-eng-na.pdf
You can add bioballs in the empty chamber, best would be from an established healthy aquarium to help a new aquarium or simply to add some additional media for nitrifying bacteria to colonize.
Dave, we disagree not because we are employed by Fluval but because of the skimmate we collect with these skimmers that clearly demonstrate they are stripping organic waste out of saltwater. If you provide your email address we will gladly email you some images that we took of what the Fluval Sea PS2 skimmer was taking out of one of our Evo tanks.
I am concerned about the base on the bottom not supporting all 4 corners of the tank do you think that might have caused it? did they give a reason why they wouldnt honor the warranty? I just looked and it says 2 year warranty. thanks for the heads up
Is the sand sharp? It might help to put it in one of those gemstone tumblers to smooth them, like natural sand, because it's safer for the fish or any application where somebody drinks water, you don't want pool filter sand due to the sharp edges.
