Here’s a concise guide on how to link a Google Business Profile to Google Ads and optimize for top placement in Google Maps results:
Verify Your Google Business Profile: Ensure your business is verified on Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business). This is crucial as only verified businesses can be linked to Google Ads.
Link Google Business Profile to Google Ads: Log into your Google Ads account, and go to the “Tools & Settings” menu. Under “Setup”, find and click on “Linked accounts”. From there, find Google My Business and click on “Details”. Follow the prompts to link your accounts by selecting the appropriate Google Business Profile.
Create a Location-Based Campaign: When setting up a new campaign in Google Ads, choose the “Local store visits and promotions” goal to focus on local traffic. This type of campaign specifically helps in promoting your business location to nearby customers.

Hey i think there is a correction, smart ad -Call ads focused on all paramater like engagements, get direction as well as. So these conversion also comes from search, search partner sites, display ads, map is just like 30%

Yes, Good point, @clicktrackmarketing can you elaborate on this. I've always been looking for a way to only show ads 100% of the time in the Google Maps or Google Business Profile placement. I know you can use the location extension and set your bid % increase higher to increase the likelyhood but it still often shows in search placements. Also if there is a way to remove the "engagements" & "get directions" conversion actions ?

Can you add a phone number to this campaign that then replaces the GBP phone number when the ad shows? And not the default GBP number?

Thanks, just what I was looking for! I started this campaign 2 days ago and I added 6-7 keywords, but in the Search Terms report there are lots of non relevant keywords where my ads showed up and people click on it :( Is it normal now? I added those keywords to the negativ keyw list

Well I was all excited, I have google business profile added to my account, but not the way all the tutorials showed me, google tech support actually set it up. Problem is *Smart Campaign type is not an option? I'm a roofing contractor, and wanted to try out map ads, but not sure how to set it up without smart bidding option?

You can add some keywords but the goal is to show up more often on the maps results. Like “restaurant near me” for the keyword and maybe Best Restaurant San Diego as the headline of the ad.

there is no smart campaigns anymore. they removed it. we have to use pmax but i've never tried before

Google forces us to move to PMAX which causes another problem now. You can exclude 7,000 wasteful domains, but you’ll need to email me for the list.

You can use the PMax campaign but you’ll need to add a ton of URLs to exclude and watch the search terms closely to add negatives. Select Directions (Get more visitors) as the goal and make sure you link the profile.

If my Google business profile has no address but instead I service an area such as my city, will this still be placed on maps? It seems like I can't add it as an asset location because the profile has no location.

You can add actual locations to target once you connect your profile. It’s fairly hidden though. You can always schedule a paid call and we can help you build it.

You have to use PMax campaign now and put the goal as GET MORE PHYSICAL VISITORS or GET MORE CALLS If you have an older Google Assistant account, you can still use the Smart campaign. Make sure the keywords are something people will search for in the maps. “Restaurant near me” “realtor near me” and so on.

Did this, and I got charged for multiple clicks from 3rd party sites. Then I was told u can't edit that in smart campaign??

There’s a list 7500 websites to exclude since Google moved everything to PMAX. Make sure to add tons of negatives and email me for the list of negatives.

Tried this for our medical clinic and got disapproved. They responded with “Speculative and experimental medical treatment”. Not sure if it’s the headlines or descriptions. Any fix for this?

Medical field is tricky and if you get disapproved, you can appeal but might need to create a new account with new card on file and different email associated with the new account. What type of medical business? You can also check the policies page.
