This is one of the few channels where I find it difficult to keep up with the sheer amount of good quality content that’s put out. Appreciate all the hard work.

My biggest buck was taken while sitting on the ground (where I now have a climber) because we only hunted over plots in the afternoons but I didn't want to sleep in. Went off behind the house about midways between a neighbor's food plot and where I suspected the trophy buck usually bedded based on trail cams. Didn't see him that morning but saw the 9 point I ended up taking. Only had one picture of him ever and it was from 11PM the night before I killed him. All that being said, spot on about got to be able to sneak in and get on those travel paths while keeping that scent blowing where you've already been/where the deer aren't expected. I've debated adding a second stand in some picturesque mature pines but I just don't know how to get in to it without scattering the whole parcel with scent. Best to leave it alone or spend the night up the tree I guess!

I love hunting mornings. Nothing like watching the woods wake up. Hearing crashing from a buck chasing a doe. I no several people that dont hunt mornings they said they spook to many deer in the mornings
@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 2 месяца назад
It is an awesome time! One way to look at it is that a lack of quality morning stand is directly due to poor deer parcel habitat setups. A good design always has just as many morning specific stands as there are afternoon specific stand locations. A good test anyways...

90% of my big bucks were between 11am-3pm. Usually hundreds of yards from any woods. Out in a low spot in ag or along a creek or ditch. I guess I've had good luck on their travel routs. Especially when they've been pressured a little from every direction.
@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751

I used to only shoot deer away from the woods. Small woodlots...but in ditches, small crossings, inside corners, creek bottoms. So hard to hunt most of those in the morning! In mixed ag tho, man I love mornings 😊

Great tips on morning sets!! Do you pull your tracks off your UTV in spring and put tires on, or is that a different one?

Thanks a lot Jason! That's a different model. Polaris gave us a Kinetic to use for a few months...it is amazing! We take the tracks off the RTV for spraying, but leave the tracks on the Ranger...

Jeff - Do you ever do waterhole maintenance? Do you clean them out? Drain and re-fill? Thanks!

Hi Kurt! The most I ever do is take them out in the Spring and then add water when needed. That seems to keep them being used very well!

Great video jeff, I have a quick question about 2-4D. if it is going to rain within 24 hours of me spraying it. Is it worth it to mix with my gly? or should I spray gly then follow up with 2-4D by itself during a few dry days in the future to kill broadleaf's, I know that is twice the spraying and I like mixing them in my tank together to get one pass and kill everything, what are your thoughts?

This past week I planted Jeff's extreme switch. Then sprayed 24D & glyso one pass 3 hrs before the rain came in. Looking like a nice kill and hoping for a great catch. Need the forecasted rain today. Love the stuff I'm learning from JeffS. Thanks so much.

What do you say to those hunters out there that say morning stand hunts are too risky due to the fact that often times mature buck come back to their bedding area well before daylight? You end up spooking the buck when you walk in because he is alreayd in that area.
@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 2 месяца назад
Hi Duane! When you don't have adequate morning stands, it's a sure sign of a poor hunt or habitat management plan. Separation of food and bedding is critical. It not only allows you to actually hold and hunt mature bucks on a parcel, but to be able to then have morning stands or afternoon stands. It takes a higher level of expertise to develop morning stands, but that's why I talk about it so much on this channel. Out of roughly 40 target bucks of mine in several states over several decades, nearly 30 have been shot in the morning...public and private lands. Many more non target bucks I've shot in the morning too. Just takes some extra attention to strategy tho...but it can easily be done. Now if you throw in sitting over a bait pile...that is a different story unless you are a few hundred yards away from the bait pile. Or even a food plot. But sitting on the food in the morning is a bad strategy for morning hunting in general...

Going out into the dark woods gives me some of the most anxiety I've ever had. It's not that I'm scared. I just don't want to ruin anything with noise and scent plus I use little Itty bitty light and so on. Just slow and steady up the tree. Once up the sigh of relief is real until the anxiety filled shot on a buck lol

After hunting this spring for bears I can agree with this to a point. Usually hunting for deer Im not so worried about traveling in the dark. Now getting to the stand 20 yards away from bear food is a bit different.

@@mikemellon80I used to use a flashlight and get set 30 min before legal light when I was younger, but swapped to getting set at sunrise or 90 min after depending on the set, and it has been a different ball game since. Less intrusiveness, less bumping deer, more legal time on stand on the back end of mornings when our extreme hugh pressure bucks move, etc...
