Cheers mate , just ordered sky ultra fast 145mb fibre, as my broadband was the same 38 and 18 up ps5 was only 1.6 up, really looking forward to getting thus installed thanks😊
You pay for the Broadband connection to the hub anything internal and extended is not within Sky's penetrating control - great that they have these boosters and Boost service to help customer who have internal or material factors effecting the Wifi range makes life easier :)
I want to get internet in an external building which I've put a CAT7 ethernet lead which runs from the house to the shed - would the booster give me internet there if I plug in the etherenet lead?
We've just changed to sky from Vodafone and the booster has just been sent. We haven't got a sky router yet so I'm assuming we are just waiting on that...? Hopefully 🤣 do they only send you the one booster or can they send you more depending on the connection speed etc?
A booster is for range not speed. This confirms my trust issues on online speed tests. From sky direct “A Sky WiFi booster can extend your hub's WiFi signal to cover those harder to reach areas in your home. It will improve your WiFi coverage but won't improve the speed you get to your hub.”
tbh, ive got the old router and it seems ok for me. our speeds are not great for our area anyway, so i cant see it really doing much. but i do feel that these sort of things should be included in your package for the price you pay. rather than saying you need to pay £5 more per month to help.
I am having a similar issue, but only because the hub if further away from my xbox than I would like. I am still getting 70mbs upstairs, but have been thinking about getting a booster to help with this. However I think you may have an issue with your main hub if your only getting 31mbs 8 meters away? Is your booster set up next to your hub? I contacted sky about the booster and they mentioned it would be an extra £5 a month for the booster with £10 admin charges with the possibility of the prices rising throughout the contract. At that point I thought I would do so further research. Have you came to any conclusion that the booster may just better than your orginal hub or is it really worth it? Any info would be greatly appreciated, cheers.
Hi, Thanks for comment. They already sent me a replacement Hub last year but still the same, I think it's because my home is old and has solid walls unlike many houses built today where a lot of internal walls are non-load-bearing walls. Definitely get the booster, it's been almost a month and it's honestly great, downloads are super fast, would definitely be great for online gaming etc to prevent lagging. I was getting around 30mbps in another room but when I took my laptop to the front where my hub is I was getting 70 - 80mbps, so I reckon my main problem is signal issues due to solid walls.
@@sjp1285 Do you keep your booster near your hub? I watched a sky booster set up vid onile and it shows the booster need to be placed away from the hub to extend the signal. However certain people advise against getting one and say sky boosters were only issued as engineers could not get out to customers homes over lockdown. At this point I still don't know what to do. I would love to try the booster to see if it could up my signal and speed upstairs. But the hassle of increasing my contract and then cancelling it if it doesn't work out is holding me back. I can still game fine atm, but was used to high speeds from virgin but unfortunately my area doesn't cover their fibre optic option.
@@tek8537 No, I keep the booster half distance away, so my booster is 4 meters away from my hub and my laptop is 4 meters away from the booster and my laptop is 8 meters away from hub. So connect booster half way. It will work and it is worth it, you'll get the speed that you pay for. I was shocked to get the full speed. BTW I pay around £70 a month but that includes Internet, telephone and Sky TV as a package.
Thank you for the info. I have pressed the wps button on the booster box & the main one in the hall. However, the green power light & wifi lights appear, but never the 'connected' light in the middle! Any ideas why please?
You’re getting Megabits (Mb) not Megabytes (MB), divide it by 8. Poor guy was actually only getting 18MBps. I get 900Mb (112MB) for less what he pays up here in Scotland and we’ve only just discovered electricity. 😮
I need this as I’m supposed to have super fast broadband and I’m getting max download speed max 15 mbsp min 8.38 mgbs it’s a joke I’m a gamer/streamer and it took over 24 hours to download a game a cable help a bit 😫😫😫
My connected light doesn't come on, i have exactly the same hub as you, Sky sent me a new booster hub, but the connected light is still off, any ideas???
Keep trying, also try to move direction of the booster hub towards your computer/ laptop or try moving it to a different location but eventually should work.
@@Erehzzz the sky booster is free from sky they only charge you to deliver it&charge you for not returning it after you end your contract&there are no extra charges for using it
