I'm a bit confused... Cloudfare appears to be what I'm looking for to manage my domains for email aliases, but curious... You're setting up a domain that ALREADY points to a website by copy/pasting the DNS settings; so if the domain is ALREADY pointing to your website, from the service it's parked at, what's the point of directing it from that location to Cloudflare and routing it to the website??
If you use Cloudflare this much, why not use them as a registrar? Porkbun is great, but Cloudflare is less expensive, and you can consolidate? Just my logic, please say why you don't. Thanks for great content!
Think related to best practice separating registrar and DNS hosting. There have been a few horror stories in past. We actually consolidated recently, but we a pro users.

Thanks Craylor I have one simple question: If we change the nameserver then wouldn't the website completely hosted on Cloudflare? Then do we really need hosting provider? Isnt the cloudflare enough on itsown?
Not quite. Cloudflare technically *can* host pages, but only static ones that use HTML and JavaScript. It cannot run executable code like PHP, so you cannot run WordPress or other dynamic platforms. Cloudflare is designed to be a DNS service and CDN, not a primary web host. By changing your nameservers, it just means that all of your traffic runs through the Cloudflare network first before being routed to its final destination.
Great video. I discovered that MX records cannot be proxied, and are to be set to DNS only, but then I see the warning that the origin server is exposed.

@@loreauvillephil not specifically, but it’s very simple. cPanel lists the server’s IP address in that main right sidebar you see in the dashboard. That’s the IP Address for your A record. You could also search for the DNS Zone Editor within cPanel and copy the A record IP address from there.
@@Craylor Tried that it just isn't that simple. The DNS records at Cloudflare state that I must manage everything at my Host's Cpanel and it's like I can't change the A record.
@@loreauvillephil Hmm.. that's odd. Cloudflare shouldn't tell you that you have to manage stuff at cPanel. You already pointed your domain's nameservers to Cloudflare?
I got the SSL origin certificate from Cloudflare, but when uploading the certificate in my cPanel it's not accepting and saying it's of Cloudflare origin.
02:35 I am not clear on these "assignments" of the pair of Cloudflare server names to a particular Cloudflare account. As far as I know, no other name server providers do this. In this video, are faye and nikon assigned to this particular RU-vidr's Cloudflare account exclusively?

If you’re using WordPress, I would still recommend a security plugin like WordFence. Cloudflare helps keep the malicious traffic from reaching your site, but in the event they do reach your site, a security plugin kicks in and helps fight brute force attempts and also patches vulnerabilities in plugins in real time.

No such thing as a dumb question! Cloudflare works in conjunction with your hosting provider but is not web hosting (so not an alternative to Hostinger). Cloudflare acts as a middle man between your domain and web host to offer speed and security enhancements to your website for free. Your domain points to Cloudflare, then Cloudflare points the traffic to your web hosting. I'm so lost. I've purchased a domain through cloudflare and the website is through them but I haven't a clue how to actually enter any kind of build mode... I'm working from scratch with these guide. any idea?
My website files are on Amazon and my domain name is registered at Cloudflare. What kind of entry do I need to marry the two? I tried "A" but if requires a IP address and the Amazon link is a long URL.
I have some questions: I added the name server and my website went offline.. The customers service told me I had a 301 redirecting error. I contacted the hosting and they couldn't help me out and at the end Cloudflare customers service told me that the issue was probably at my coding that was redirecting to itself. What do I have to do? :((( Anyway, I decided to delete the name servers of Cloudflare and went back to my old name servers and now I am having huge problems. My admin page of my WordPress website doesn't show anymore. I am so sad :(((
Very off-topic question for this sort of video, however, I am asking as it is your most recent video, and would be very grateful if you could respond. I am running two pretty simple WordPress blogs on DreamHost using a VPS. On WordPress, I am stuck on what theme to use for both as well as the page builder. Through watching your videos I thought I had decided on Salient and WPBakery however another one of your videos and other comments has me second guessing about maybe instead using Divi or Elementor. I am 100% new to WordPress and website development. What do you recommend for a young new blogger in 2022 who may also want to be a freelance developer in the distant future? Thanks for this tutorial. I wonder I already have an SSL certificate configured on my web host so should I also chose the Full option in CloudFlare? Not sure if it is necessary? will it break anything if I have both?
It wont hurt to select the Full option. Just beware that you will have to renew the certificate on your web server appropriately, or the site will break if the certificate on the server expires. Alternatively, you can choose “flexible” even if you have a cert installed on your server, but that’s technically the less secure option. I don’t think it really matters unless your site involves ecommerce or user logins.

When setting up new domain on cloudflare that has never been added to a cpanel how do you then go back and add an email to a cpanel webmail account? Do you just add an account to your hosting but then delete all the DNS records from the cpanel account. So confusing.
Question guyz. What about if my website I built form scratch is associated with MySQL database and my website is dynamic, can I upload it while managing my database for that?
I'm lost it didnt do the scan for me but its telling me do fill out "[name] points to [IPv4 address] and has its traffic proxied through Cloudflare." to do the scan but nothing on the internet shows how to do this everything from the first 3 steps (where i stopped) isnt matching up. please help

Cloudflare used to be so easy to setup, now its a nightmare. Just wasted 2 hours of my life trying to setup on a new website and gave up. Site didn't load. Zero support. Zero documentation. Its a joke.
This is absolutelty absurd. You are putting in your sponsor and doing things with that provider. Understand the level of confusion that can create in a beginner's mind??
Nothing about the Cloudflare setup changes with a different host, you just need the IP address of the server (which would be different for you even if you did use the sponsor). It’s usually available in the dashboard of your hosting provider, but if not, you can always reach out to customer support and ask for the IP.
