I have been searching for this for the last 3 months not even sqaure explained the full process when I called. THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO. I subscribed immediately
LADY LADY LADY-------YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! I've been trying to do this for the freaking longest!!!!!! You literally made homework for me to do, changing all my services. But, it's needed. Awesome tutorial.
Omg, thank you so much. I have been spending hours trying to figure all this stuff out. I probably never would have figured all that out. Thank you!!!!!! Probably will be watching this several times. lol
Wow you helped saved my a**! The Square doesn't have the "Deposit $" feature yet & after chatting with 2 of their reps. last night that were clueless about this, your instructions were awesome & especially about this work-around!" Plus your tutorial helped me to set up my sub-categories as well. Thanks so much!! & thank you Jesus as I prayed for the Lord to help me get this figured out & used you as a blessing to me & our business! pride-heart-rainbow-philly :) Unlike your preference though; I wanted the extra deposit to be very visible & noticeable as it's added onto the full price of the rentals.
That was AMAZING! Thank you so very much. You answered all my questions and then some and straight to the point. I really appreciate your time and putting this video out there.
OMG! You're a life saver! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge ♥ I just came here to figure out how to set up deposits & I ended up learning how to actually set up my site the way I want it to look.
You’re literally a lifesaver! Omg! Wow! Thank you soooo much! I too just switched from Acuity to Square for the same reasons as you stated it just makes sense & to me square is a lot more user friendly & easier to navigate than Acuity. Thank you again so much! The exact answer to my only issue with this system, accepting deposits!😩🙏🏾🙌🏾♥️
@@natalyaofpisceantouch How do I charge them the remainder? Sorry and Thank you! Such a novice at this. smh I looked in a previous comment that you connect it with your terminal? Do you manually type in an amount or how does that work? I've never done that before.
Square appointments connects with my square stand and terminal so i charge the remainder balance on there. You can do it as a custom amount or however you want it.
OMG girl this was so helpful!! I had my services listed individually with a prepay option. I had to re-ring them up when it was time to check out. This saves me so much time and confusion.
I wish I could hug you through this phone screen. You just helped me solve my BIGGGGGEST business issue since converting to my square site. Whew. God was good when he sent you ❤
This is so amazing! You are the best ! Been looking for how to add deposit payment to my square and your video showed it all . Thanks so much . Keep it up !
Hello fellow Natalia, i swore that i was the only black woman with that name until this video lol. Great video with valid information and great detail it really helped me setup my new site! God Bless :)
Hey beautiful! Mine spelled with a y Natalya. There is another one of us in Texas also. A lady yelled “Hey Natalya!” as she walked up to me just to be disappointed and apologized because she thought she knew me, she said I looked like a friend of hers. I said “but my name IS Natalya lol” it was so weird.
Thank you for this helpful video! I hope square implements a deposit feature in the future, but this is a great method to use until then. Thanks again!
i was so happy to find this so clear... but they updated their site and now it allows for full payment only sadly and were it says price describtion for you it now pricing describtion so now it not quite the same but i will see if it still works.. thanks for this video !
Absolutely amazing this helped me a lot thank you for this video. I have one more issue im trying to also figure and its how you get your categories to drop down on your website. When i go on my square appointments it shows my different categories but when i go to my website my services are all together as one and its a very long list to scroll through. Thank you in advance
This was so helpful! Thank you so much for posting this video. I am working on transitioning from Acuity to Square for the same reason. Thank you again. 💜
Thanks for this video helped me so much don’t ever delete it pls! Your voice is easy to follow. Can you make more square tips and tutorials, I have it but I still can’t figure it out 😶🥰🤍
Are you able to do a video on the check box where they have to agree on your cancellation policy and like your terms and conditions? I’m having trouble adding that I’ve looked in the community search internet and no luck. The exact way you have it set up is perfect that they must check the box to agree before continuing to pay deposit and book. Thank you 😊
Since the prices are now different to reflect the deposit, how do you charge the actual price when it comes to checking the customer out? Do you have separate services with the remaining balances to use during checkout? Thanks for the informative video. It was super helpful
@@ashleyhaith6890 Yes i use my square reader to take the remaining balance at the time of service but I’ve switched to acuity because that got old fast.
Your video was so helpful, the only issue that I’m having is when booking multiple services it’s charging a deposit for each service instead of just a flat rate
Thank you SO much! This is super helpful!! You have a calm teaching voice too ☺️ You mentioned if we want to know about anything else so you can make more videos to ask in the comments … I noticed you have a “squeeze in/stay late” fee? How do you enforce that? Or word it? Do you say “It’s this much more if I stay late? “ I feel I am always staying late for clients but never charge more even though I’ve always thought they should pay more if they don’t prebook!? And the late arrival fee? I’ve never heard of this and have a hard time cause I often run late so I feel silly charging a late fee. How long do you give them before they are charged?
Aww thank you 😊 So I now call it an after hours fee. For anything before or after my set schedule. I don’t do squeeze ins anymore but i will send a notification to my clients through my app for any appointment cancellations that need to be filled in. That’s the only time I don’t charge an extra fee.
Hello there! Thank you for your video! How did you get to add the CC on file notice agreement and your policy agreement at check out at the same time? For me it only allows me to add one item only
This was the MOST helpful and BEST video I came across after researching for weeks! I tried to look through comments to see if anybody asked but I'm not sure if anybody did, since I couldn't find it. So, I followed the same exact steps as you! Although, I do not have the option when my clients book for them to authorize to store the card on file. Neither is their card saved. So whenever I have last-minute cancellations, for example, I can't charge their card because it isn't saved. But they do put their card on file for the deposits! How do I have the clients save their card on file in case I need to charge the remaining balance?
@@natalyaofpisceantouch Free Subscription I assume? The only thing I paid for on Square was my website domain, if you are referring to that subscription
this video was the most helpful I've seen thus far!!! thanks so much for the easy to follow step by step, I'm an independent nail tech struggling on how to get my site set up. question is there anyway to set up square so that it only shows certain times I have available for booking? I have a set routine such as 10am, 2pm & 6pm and I can't figure out how to make my booking availability like so? pleaseeeee respond :(
Hey beauty! Yes I know how but its a bit of a process 😂 1. Go to update your Business hours so that you open at 10am. That means that's the 1st appt your clients see. Press Save. 2. Go click Appointments > Calendar > Small Clock on the right 3. Update your Availability there and press Save 4. Then click Appointments > Services > Select your service 5. Set the duration (length) of service and BLOCK EXTRA TIME so this way the next opening is 2pm🥰 WHEW! had to learn on my own. Hope this helps 🎉
Thank you for this! Super helpful! How do you take it out of their total at checkout? Do you just apply discount manually or does it automatically do it for you from the total?
Hi! Thank you for this video. It was VERY helpful and I was able to set up my website with a deposit. But how do we check out clients with the remaining balance? It now only shows the deposit so I'm having to manually enter transactions into my Square app, but I would like to check out in the appointments app to make it easier.
@@LWrightProductionsLLC i had it as a service on my square reader since it connects to square appointments but I also just create custom amounts on square at checkout
I have a question after we add the deposits. When for example I want to check out a client for a full set it only pulls up the deposit amount not the full price, am I missing something? This video was also very helpful on setting up my deposits :)
@@romiesbeautyplace1203 I am still having trouble trying to figure this part out- all my services look as if I am charging way less since its only showing the deposit amounts
@@julia9506 so now mine shows the full amount when they wanna book but makes them pay just my $$20 deposit. So when they come in I just checkout and charge whatever the balance is. I’m done playing around with it. I can’t seem to figure out how to fix it
This was a very helpful video. I wish there were more videos like this because I am currently having trouble displaying my availability on my square website so clients can book. 😩😩😩
hey love i love this process but when the clients are in person and the service is done what is your check out process with out your prices charging them deposit prices at check out when you click on the service
@@natalyaofpisceantouch ok so if they paid their deposit how to charge them for the difference of their service? I need a video lol. I’m a makeup artist
@@Baby203Phat i use the square terminal and they can swipe their card or they pay cash and I document it to my square. However you’d like to take the final payment. I’ll do a video on it.
@@natalyaofpisceantouch please. Like for an example if my service is $90 I require a $30 deposit and they will owe $60. But When you try to cash them out you can see no option to charge the difference and it also don’t allow you to add anything for you to charge.
I'm trying to do it right now. I no longer see a prepay option other than FULL prepayment and they want you to have Square Plus to hold a card on file at booking. :/
So sorry to come back to you but I just had my first client setting this up the way that you did and I can’t figure out how to manually and put their card. Once I accept the appointment and charge the client is showing the service as complete
This is excellent, thank you. Like me you have multiple services they can schedule, does it total everything like in a shopping cart and give you a total deposit?
This helped me so much! Is there a way to require pre-payment for certain services, but not for others? Example: I want to require pre-payment for my lash full sets but not fills.
Thanks for the video!! Very helpful!! One issue I am having after setting up my Square this way is that a person with a gift card cannot use it to secure an appointment. I sent Square an email 2 days ago and I'm awaiting a response. If Square just took deposits these workarounds and problems would disappear. Does anyone know why Square won't take deposits on appointments? Ever other appointment software does, thinking of switching to Squarespace (Acquity).
Life saver!! I've been looking forever trying to figure out how to take deposits only!! Now after they pay a deposit is an invoice created on its own with the balance?
@@natalyaofpisceantouch I’ve been wondering this cos I can’t see the balance on their appointments anymore it just says the deposit is prepaid. So does the balance amount come up on their appointment day?
Hi! Thank you for this video and for explaining how to set up a deposit, however; for some reason for the day of the appointment, the remaining balance is not updating. It only shows the pre payment (deposit) that was made at the time of booking the appointment. Has anything changed? Am I missing a step? Thank you in advance.
Amazing video so easy to follow. I have an issue with the square appointments app. I have figured out the online part and all working perfectly however when trying to book a client in manually myself on the square appointments app, the total price it is showing under the service is the deposit amount that Iv set for online payment and there’s no option to charge them the remaining amount when I check them out at their appointment. Some of my clients book multiple appointments in one go so I override the need for them to pay the deposits as that adds up if booking several in one go. Could anyone help?
You can make the deposit for appointment add ons cheap. Like maybe $1. If they are usually scheduled with a primary service. For example a lash fill can have a deposit amount of $25 and a lash bath can be a $1 deposit. Then you will have to take the remaining payment at the time of service. I use the square stand. It connects to square appointments. Some may use zelle or take cash only. But you can’t charge the remainder through square appointments.
@@natalyaofpisceantouch Thankyou for replying sorry I don’t think Iv explained myself very well! So I have got the deposit function working perfectly for bookings done online it’s when i want to book a client in myself. The amount showing when booking a client in is the deposit amount not the full treatment amount. I’m assuming because my prices for online bookings are set at the deposit amounts as per your video. The clients I am booking manually - would I just need to ignore the price showing in the square appointments app and just use my square card reader to charge them the full amount at time of their appointment?
It will ask if you want to collect a fee after you mark them as a no show. But I never use it. I block them from booking and if they reach out to book I let them know the fee has to be paid first plus the full cost of service before I let them schedule. They usually know how to remove their card before you charge it so charging after the fact is a hit and miss.
Thank you so much! It seems that square updates often because I can never find a RU-vid video that looks exactly alike. Is there a way to customize the message in the confirmation email/reminder texts?
Yep, just go to the desktop version, click appointments, click settings then click communications. Scroll down and you can edit from there. I’ll do a video on it soon.
I really appreciate you making this video. I have been up for hours trying to figure things out. My question if you are willing to answer it for me and maybe others. When and how do you get the balance of the service fee? My soft opening is a week away and the balance is due, how do they pay it?
