Always good stuff, sensei. I would also add the reminder to do this on second serves as well. I see tons of folks (self included) have a routine on the first serve that collapses into chaos rushing into the second serve.

@@PerformancePlusTennis doing it again on the second serve is great advice. After watching this video I put it to practice and my first serve percentage went up amazingly including one game with not a single first serve missing and not a single double fault in 3 sets. I didn't win, it was against a much better player, but I won a set, and it was much much closer than usual because of the consistency. Thanks for the advice.

This is awesome! I’m a former 12 utr hoping to get to futures once I’m fully back from injury(fingers crossed in the next couple months) and you’re absolutely right about the holding the racket behind you and bouncing the ball in that certain way. It isn’t anything I ever practiced I just started feeling it. I’ve also started turning the racket three times in my hand while I’m bouncing the ball before I get in the preparation phase. All mental. I’m not sure it’s something you can manufacture but it’s definitely a checkpoint that you’re starting to develop a killer serve!

The kids need a routine purely to slow them down, otherwise they nearly always rush through their serve. Its a good habit to imbue in your players as early as possible.
