@@SazonMoto yeah man, that’s the truth. When I first got it Jan 2020 the sales girl couldn’t even begin to tell me how launch control worked, which was fine, but after doing my own research I couldn’t find out either, and I just kind of forgot about it. Not like you can’t rip the bike without launch control. Anyway, really looking forward to trying it out later today. 🤘

@@SazonMoto bro I ask this girl “is there anything you can tell me about it I should know?” AFTER I had already signed papers, got tags, right off the showroom floor. She starts by showing me how to lock the forks. I couldn’t help but laugh. I knew what I was getting into right but there’s a whole lot to unpack with these late model R1’s. I’ll have to check out Brentuning, as I’m sure you’re well aware those ECU tunes just weren’t available for the longest, now they’ve finally got them I guess. I hear it’s close to 50+Hp with just a flash. That’s wild considering how fast they are out of the box.
@@BikesNThings 😂 lock the fork! That must have been hard for her. Poor thing! I’m telling you. The bike scared the Sh^t out of me after that tune. I had to keep her in B mode. I felt like I could not control her in A mode. Of course this was after the tune was available. I do miss that bike. Strongly considering getting an R1M at some point but for now I’m tryin to trade in my civic Si for a Tundra so I can haul the bike to different states

Also good to mention if lift control is off, it wont allow you to select launch control 1 or 2. So lift control needs to be selected, then you can selct launch control.

I could not find it for my life so I took matters in my own hands. It was loud because for starters…. I was in a garage and to add to the loud exhaust you know Austin Raving Exhaust is naturally super loud 😂 thank you for check out the video. The only reason I didn’t do it was because there are a ton of videos of people performing the launch control and NO videos explaining on how to set it up on the menu. So I said let me do a quick video on this
Agreed and yes I’ve seen videos of ppl doing Launch Control but not explaining what they are actually doing. Are they just dumping the clutch, slowly letting it our while pinned, etc…
@@keithorlando6652 They key to luanch control is to let the cluthc out slowly and the bike figures out what RPM's it needs to be so you can launch. This is from personal experiance. If you do the launch control manually without the use of launch control, you could be 2 high up on the rev range and risk popping a power wheelie launching the bike in the air if wheelie control is turned off. Launch control helps you to me at the "correct" rev range to launch at a dead stop. These are my personal experience with launch control.

Yes it does. Just pull the throttle and don’t let go and go through your gears. She will do the rest to get you to the next gear. If it doesn’t work, you’ll need to activate it in your settings under QS for Quick Shifter

Thank you. I know I haven’t seen many videos like this to deep dive into the settings. I don’t know if it did have a tire pressure sensor. I actually traded this bike in for a 2021 BMW S1000RR in November and this bike has it all. Like heated grips and cruise control like what!?!?!? 🤯

Absolutely! I didn’t see anything explaining how to go into the settings because it’s turned off from factory. So I took it upon myself to teach it! Glad this helped because there are a ton of videos of people launching the bike using launch control But no one explained how to activate or turn on that setting
That’s odd you should be able to. Make sure your not in gear. You possibly might need some sort of software. Look me up on Instagram and you can DM me there to trouble shoot
same with my 2021. I bought it 2nd hand, but the scroller still functions, I wonder if the ECU had been flashed and may not allow me to access the settings. I guess I could always get the bluetooth logger and change the setting via bluetooth.
Bro I finally found a red 20 s1000rr and it’s LOCAL!!! Is it to soon to tell if the bmw is more powerful/faster then the r1 yet? I need more power. I’m getting my r1 flashed ecu back next week so I’m sure that will help my cause but not sure how much faster the bmw could be?
OHHHHH I WANNA SEE THIS 🙌🏽. The R1 doesn’t have as much power as the S1000RR from what I understand because watching a video from Motonocity he needed to change the sprocket size to match that power and the Dyno states that the S1K delivers 185 stock and the R1 is around 160 with no flash tune
Yo nice Video, but do you know how to change the rpm limit? Default on mine (2018 model) is at 10.000 rpm, but thats too much for me. Would prefer like 8000 rpm. Would be nice if you know!
I don’t think you can in the settings. That’s all via mapping and tuning. Unless your talking about the rev limiter light and not the actual engine RPM
What I'm seeing is guys doing launch control but NOT keeping the throttle pinned the whole time instead of modulating their acceleration with the clutch. Which defeats the whole purpose
Thank you for this. Do you know if we should be letting the clutch out quickly but in a controlled manner to launch it like this, or are we just popping the clutch and letting the anti wheelie do it’s thing?
No problem. Never dump the clutch. Always let the clutch go just like you would when your at a complete stop and your about to take off. Still slowly until you completely let the clutch go. Wheelie control will just control the wheelie itself. Give yourself some practice runs in a controlled environment so you can feel how the bike acts under you. It’s a little nerve racking at first but after your first time you’ll understand the power delivery and the full functionality of the launch control from a “feel” standpoint. I think the electronics are the same from 2015-2020 and up. I had to look up at the interface and they seem to be the same. Use the video as a guid and it should work for you. Please let me know if this works and I’ll update the title 🙌🏽 I appreciate it
