Hi coach thanks for this, I've just been on what I call my hiit the hill session and bugger me what a difference its made, from start to finish up the hill if your interested is 12.66 km with an elevation gain of 451 meters which I have never made in 45 minutes however today I got to the top in less than 45 minutes, thank you so much.

Do you recommend setting SPD mtb cleats all the way back in the second set of holes? This would put the spindle 22mm behind my first metatarsal. That seems a lot to me. I ride with Shimano RX8 shoes on a road bike. Thanks!
@renegadeflyer2
@renegadeflyer2 Год назад
I usually take a multi tool along with me. For the first ride. ( or do it on the trainer) itsis more about getting the cleats set. I know I will be sitting on the side of the road fiddling with my shoes. But after about 30 to 40 kms, I will be happy with it. Just by stopping peddling and twisting my foot left or right, this will tell me if I'm centered or not. If the cleats are twisted to much, my joints will start complaining.

Hey Coach. I'm in pain on the left foot. It's always around the small toe metatarsal area. I did the jump test and I noticed that foot is way more turn on the outside than my right foot. I already setup the cleats to the maximum angle (without rubbing on the crank). When I ride I notice that I'm always at the max of that rotation on the cleats on the inside. Should I increase the Q Factor? Should I do that only on the left side? I tried a few shoes as well, all the same. My feet are narrow, I have plenty of space in the shoe. Wide shoe just create blister. Bit at a loss here. Any advice would be appreciated.

I did a 91 mile ride after a few weeks off. The outside of my knees are now hurting. You know that big round lumpy bone towards the back outside of the knee. I’m guessing my cleats need to move to the inside/inwards but I just need confirmation. Thanks.

Hi, thx for your video, just before i watch it i've tried to set back the cleats and i can only agree with you about it. The only issue is now i'm feeling i need to move the seat. In your opinion shoud i set it backward or forward? I still don't change the saddle height. Thx best regards.
@BulletproofCycling
@BulletproofCycling 10 месяцев назад
I would experiment first with 3-5mm saddle height upwards

Great video. My cleats are set all the way forward on my Shimano road shoes. If I move it all the way back do I adjust seat height? Lower seat by a few mm?

Hi Coach, normally do brevets and am planning to install cleats. Would these help with foot stability and reduce pressure point on the saddle to eliminate chaffing. Any tips would be helpful. Did get myself a basic bike fit done earlier. Thank you
@BulletproofCycling
@BulletproofCycling 8 месяцев назад
They should help you but you can do foot balance/stability drills as well to increase your foot nervous control 👍👍

How about a video for those of us who use SPD dual-platform pedals on our (gasp) road bikes? My right foot turns out and if I just place it on the pedal my heel would bang into the chain stay. What tips do you have for mutants like me?

Hey Coach , in my Sworks shoes , cleats bolts can be reversed , meaning that the "move the cleats far back " can mean 1 cm range , or more , I have big issue with set up my cleats
@BulletproofCycling
@BulletproofCycling 8 месяцев назад
Yeh they are great shoes but start with cleat centre mark just behind the widest part of your foot - I am going to share a video on how to this very easily at home - will aim to post this week and share on my Skool page as well

How does moving my cleats back effort saddle height and or saddle fore/aft. Thanks for another great video hope it will solve my numb toes after a bike fit I had a while back👍🙏
@BulletproofCycling

Moving back can shorten length a few mm’s and vice versa with forward.

Hello coach! thanks for the tips. I have a question, I did all this process and when I am pedaling at tempo zone, everything seems okay (no pain, and I feel very comfortable), but, when I try to jump to threshold zone for 20 minutes I started feeling that my knees want to move in, so I feel that the cleats are not well setup for this kind of efforts. Is there a way I can align my cleats under pressure or power load? I tried to move the cleats a little bit inward but if I do this, in the tempo zone I feel weird. so I am confused.....
@BulletproofCycling
@BulletproofCycling Год назад
Sorry to hear this. Your set up should work in all zones. Your knees can naturally fall inwards when increasing the power. Maybe you just need to rotate the cleats slightly rather than slide them inwards?

Hi coach. Is there a simple fix for ‘hotfoot’ in the sole of the foot above the cleat? I’ve suffered badly from this on longer rides and the only answer I've found to date is to remove the shoes and bathe in cold running water.
@BulletproofCycling
@BulletproofCycling Год назад
Have you tried moving the clear further back or move the cleat sideways towards your crank (if possible) Sometimes it can be an issue with some types of shoe sole and a shoe that could be too tight

Sorry to be out of step here, but I’m a little puzzled. For the first fifty years of cycling including clips and straps it’s always been stressed how important it is to have the ball of the foot central over the pedal axle. I can fully understand the way you describe adjusting the side to side float that’s very informative, however I don’t understand how it would help moving the cleats so that the ball of my foot is forward of the pedal axle. What am I missing here?
@BulletproofCycling
@BulletproofCycling Год назад
I am suggesting just behind the ball of foot. It can help transfer load without getting too technical. However, if your pedal stroke is not broken then don’t change it 👍👍👍
