Really great job showing how to dial in the Plex. I will add that putting stick and/or pole under the foot and head end guy out lines is critical for me to fit in this tent without hitting the walls with my quilt . Helps push the ends up and out for a little more headroom.

Good point! That's something I'll have to mess around with the next time I'm out.

Awesome. I have this one also. Depending on weather I can angle my trekking pole top towards the tent for more space against the back wall. I use I stick or something to put between the tent and the steak on the head and at times foot for more, or different room I should say. Thanks dude you rock in today’s very saturated constant brand pushing by some of the others. Keep it up.

I have zero interest in buying this tent but watched this purely for the videography of the video. Extremely well done with great voice inflections and obviously something in my brain for no reason decided to watch this so great video.

Thank you so much for the kind words! That really means a lot - I try to make the videos enjoyable to watch, even if someone doesn't own the tent. I appreciate you watching!

Thanks. This was interesting and useful info if I am ever able to afford a Plex Solo - maybe next year.

Thanks so much for watching! It is admittedly a pretty big investment, but you can check out the Lanshan 1 if you want something similar at a more reasonable price point.

I bought a Plex Solo recently on Ebay. "Used Once" and it was brand new and the right price with a Zpacks carbon pole and ten stakes. Been watching Zpacks mods and purchased some loops and magnetic ties to dial the tent in. Looking forward to 2024 season. Planning a Laurel Highlands hike east of Pittsburgh.

Nice. I find the supplied front line too short. A good retrofit is to replace with a longer version, also gives more flexibility concerning peg positions.

Really good tip! I too find myself wishing it were a bit longer.

Any recommendation to get a better footing for the trekking pole on hard (rock face) or very loose (pine needles) surfaces? Different feet for the pole, perhaps?

I've watched some of your other videos. I've considered subscribing. I've unsubscribed from other RU-vid channels when they start pushing there're tents nearing $1000.00 mark. Through hiker chic is nice i suppose, when some company gives there products to a content creator. ATB

Thanks for watching, Edward! For what it's worth, I have (to this date) purchased all my own gear. I'm an affiliate for Garage Grown Gear (among others), meaning that if someone makes a purchase through my link to the tent I get a portion of that sale, but as far as the channel goes I really just try to be helpful and talk about things that I like - people are free to make up their own minds if they want to look into things any further. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Thinking about this or the Durston Xmid Pro 1. I am definitely concerned about condensation going to a single wall tent. I'm going to make a sub 6lb big 4 for my summer setup. The lightest quilt I could find was the Enlightened Equipment 50 degree. Under 10 oz 😮.

Thanks for the comment! For what its worth, I haven't found condensation to be a huge issue, as long as you take care not to bump the walls. The only other time I ever have an issue is during massive, all night rain storms and the rain hitting the tent will cause the condensed water to mist on my sleeping bag. In most cases its really a nuisance more than a huge problem, and most of us aren't out regularly in those kinds of conditions anyway.

Definitely get the Xmid. It is superior in every way to Zpaks.

135 degrees. I know I’m being pedantic, but if you look at the angle of the line to the tent it ain’t anywhere near a 45deg angle to the tent material. It’s 135deg. Now that you have looked at it critically, you won’t look at it the same way.
@timbschwartz
@timbschwartz 3 месяца назад
Hey! You're totally right (not pedantic) and it's something I think about often when putting these videos - the seam runs at 45 degrees to the shelter fabric, the line 135. The problem is if I say 135 degrees lots of folks have no idea what I'm saying since we don't often use that angle to describe things in daily life. Thanks for the comment!
