I’ve had my lazy spa just a few days and was looking for a video that helped to tell me how to maintain the water temperature and not having running constantly as it’s cost me a lot so far just to get the temperature to 33 and I’m hoping your way will help a lot so I’ve turn it of and wait and see what it will be on tomorrow morning fingers crossed. This is the best video I’ve found and seen on this lazy spa well done guys brilliant 🤩 👍👍👍🥰
Hi Claire that’s excellent, it does take a while to sort out a routine that fits with your free time, but really glad it helped, and glad RU-vid has pushed the video so lots of people get to see it. Have a great weekend 😃
Great video, I’ve got a tip also, if the black rubber bits on the filter housing start curling up it can make it tricky to put the filter casing on without it catching and them not sitting on the filter correctly, my tip is to put the filter into the piece with the rubber bits first rather than the other way around, as it is easier not to trap the rubber bits and for them to sit correctly, hope this makes sense
@@thedrivebygg no problem it will take a while before it happens, I’m getting my Helsinki on Thursday got it on offer for £560, I couldn’t turn down that saving, was checking out your video which was great 👍
Another tip I have is during the week I only use the Spa after work so after 4pm, when I’m finished using the spa I turn it off completely and turn it on first thing in the morning around 7am, cuts electricity costs by half and it’s fully heated for use when I finish work again
@@yoshi5089 Yeah great tip, I noticed this starting to happen, so I now do this when I’m in the hot tub and I make sure the cap with the rubber section is completely wet so the rubber bits stick to the outside, making it easier to put the filter it.
Just got mine today but still waiting on the floor mats Excellent video! You and Paula did a great job 🥰 I’m feeling pretty confident, even tho I will need to do it alone 😅 thank you! 💜🦋💜
Awesome! Thank you! Best of luck and I hope our video helps you set it up nice and quickly without any regrets. Make sure when you inflate it when your not near any brick walls, as some have commented on getting punctures. Also the main pump unit does not inflate the hot tub fully, you will need to use the hand pump to finish off the inflation.
appreciate the time taken to make the video - mine is arriving soon! I'm going from a large 12ft above ground pool to a hot tub, based on the amount of faff it takes to keep a large pool going and the amount of use it (doesn't) get now my kids are older, despite the fact that I can now make one fill last the entire season, it's a lot of daily cleaning and maintaining . I'm intending to use my pool heater (it's a large efficient compressor type) and filter (sand based filter) that will hopefully reduce the costs of running the hot tub versus the inbuilt unit - will see what is involved to convert it - great tips & tricks!
@@thedrivebygg Enjoy! 💦 Unfortunately, mine scraped the wall for a millisecond whilst I was inflating it and has a puncture! I haven’t even filled it with water yet! So I have some sealant on it and will patch it tomorrow. I hope this is just beginners (bad) luck!
Thank you both so much! I'm still waiting for mine to be delivered, but wanted to get an idea of set up, usage etc beforehand. Your video is fantastic! Very clear and you mention all the little stuff that I know I'd get stressed about. As soon as you showed us the bubbles when you were in it, I could see that it would overflow if you'd filled it any higher.....there will often be 3 of us using it, so we'll probably need to fiddle with the level....I agree, they should change the indicators! Anyway, thanks so much, I'll be using this video for reminders when I'm setting it up 😁
Thankyou that’s very kind, we can’t believe how many comments and views it’s had in such a short time, it’s going to turn out to be my most successful video to date. We’ve already had a dip this morning when the temp of the tub was at 33 deg, was really nice. I’m going to purchase a cheap water pump to help with emptying the water, so that will be the next video. Thanks again and enjoy your hot tub.
Thanks Larry, we’ve decided not to run the hot tub this winter due to the rise in energy prices here in the UK. The next video will be about deflating and storing away and anything else we’ve learned in the first year of ownership. We’ve been testing how long you can keep water in the hot tub before it needs changing and we’re up to 14 weeks now quite successfully. Thanks again, keep watching and subscribing for more videos.
That’s awesome, really please to hear that. I’m going to post another video on the cleaning, as I’ve come up of a better way of removing the grit from around the edges, that builds up over time. Thanks again for taking the time to comment, much appreciated.
@@thedrivebygg big thanks Graham. You and Paula both made a great video, so informative-big thanks to you both, mine slowly heating up, should be ready by mid day tomorrow. Thank you 👍👍
thank you for this video! I am still in the inflating process and I still have kinks in the sides even after using the hand pump- I'm a little terrified of over inflating- is that possible?
Hi Tracie thanks for your comment. I think we used our hands to help ease the last remaining kinks out, and then put a bit more air in until it was nice and firm all around.
Finally just used mine for the first time and omg I've been so blessed having this. I will probably use it weather permitting nightly. But my question is why didn't you use the drain in the bottom instead of syphoning it out? I'm just going to pull the plug.. I also made the mistake of putting it too close to the house where I can't get around it. But as long as it took to get the temp to 99 even I will wait until I empty it to move it and I also learned maybe to put the water in between those level lines. Mine bubble over the top when I got in. I love this poor mans spa. It rocks. I can say that because I'm poor lol..
Enjoy my friend, they are soooo good. Mine is on our patio, and pulling the plug would flood it and damage nearby furniture. I would recommend emptying down a drain otherwise you might harm nature.
@@thedrivebygg yeah, waited a month for the first one to arrive, then another month for the Santorini. I had one before but it got damaged. 2 months without a hot tub is not good! 🤣
I’m so mad I bought one a few years ago and kept it in its box so it would have NO chance of getting holes (This was my theory anyways since I didn’t have a place to put it at that particular moment) then I went to set it up and holes EVERYWHERE couldn’t return due to it being past a certain amount of time… tried to fix it gave up… I am try to patch the holes again.. but I’m very sad about this 😢
Loved the video. There was a few tips that you used which helped me. I worry that the noise of the pump which I have left on during the night might be noisy and annoy neighbours lol next doors bedroom is where my hot tub it next to the fence. I’m In a bungalow. Have you ever had any issues with neighbours I.e problems with pump noise during the night ? Unfortunately I’m in that type of neighbourhood where the slightest noise will be awaiting a warning lol😂😂😂😂many thanks xx
Hi Lynn always great to get comments and glad we helped. The pump, now there’s a good question. I have to admit, if there is one thing I would like is for the manufactures to make the pump quieter. We did have to move our own hot tub because our neighbour complained about the noise the pump/bubbles makes when you have the bubbles on. If you can we would advise to place the hot tub as far away as possible from a neighbours property, appreciate that might not be possible. If anyone has any great ideas to help make the pump quieter, apart from turning it off 😂 please comment. Enjoy the hot tub experience.
Excellent video. I live in Malta and just ordered one at a good price, delivered to Italy from Germany then to this small rock in the med. We have 4 cats that cannot exit our small garden and the like to scratch as cats do. Are they likely to attempt at scratching the Spa? Does you cat try to scratch it?
Just noticed if you turn the hot tub off for long periods the water gets cloudy, 6 days we had it turned off completely. A dose of chlorine and 24 hours later it was nice and clear again.
Hi just come across ur video. I'm having issues with the value when I try to inflate the hot tub. As soon as I try and take the tube out the valve inside let's the air out. I've closed it up but air still seems to escape. Any ideas thk u
You might have a faulty hot tub, from memory the valve closes when you remove either the main pump or the hand pump, you don’t actually have to do anything to close the valve. Once fully inflated you do have to put the valve cap back in place which is like a plug that twists shut.
Thk u for your reply, I've looked on line and have ordered a new valve. It looks like there's a little tool which releases it. I'm hoping this works as only used it about 5 or 6 times since buying it in June 2020. Didn't even put it up last year. Thk u for ur reply much appreciated. 😊
Do you think it will fit in a single suitcase (or maybe 2 suitcases) to take on a plane. I saw the box it comes in, pretty big imo. If you take out all the stuff inside the box, do you think it will fit in a suitcase. Pump and everything. Planning to buy one in the Netherlands and take it to Thailand. I havent found a seller there, there's just cheap stuff. This specific model is on my wishlist for a long time.
Hi Jason we've never had water get into the inflatable lid section as the valve should stop this, but water does get trapped under the folds in the lid. As you might expect the only way to drain this would be to deflate the inflatable lid section and remove it from the lid, and then tip the lid upside down and drain the water out. If it really annoys use I would advise to lower the water level in the hot tub slightly, so the lid does not touch the water, or inflate the lid more so its nice and ensure the lid is strapped firmly to the hot tub straps. Thanks for commenting and hope this helps.
Hi Graham. just about to purchase one of these hot tubs. Can you tell me me the exact diametre when inflated please? I am limited on space and want to make sure it will fit. Cheers. Very informative video by the way! GB.
Hi Elaine, the diameter of the hot tub inflated is 180 centimetres, but remember the pump is external so you will need to have room for this as well. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for the video! Can you explain what is the best way to quickly unplug the air pump and then cap the tub when you have it inflated to appropriate pressure?? I noticed that you did not show how you performed this step. Anyone have an idea about how to best do this? I lose a lot of air pressure while trying to get it capped after inflation. Thanks much!
Hi Heather well it probably could fit in 7, but it wouldn’t be that comfortable and you definitely couldn’t stretch your legs out. I’ve had 4 people in ours which is fine. The other thing that people forget is that the you fill the hot tub accordingly to the amount of people in your household, if you suddenly add more people the water level will rise and likely overflow unless you empty the water before hand. Lots of fun though.
Hi Graham.Enjoyed your video.Have you not tried using a Katsu water pump to empty your tub..I bought one for £30 and its fantastic..it will empty your tub in about 7 minutes.
Hi Paul, glad you enjoyed it. I’ve not even thought about a pump to be honest, but loving the idea and the speed of it, should have purchased it instead of the hose pipe. Hopefully others will watch the video and read your comment, much appreciated.
Hi, it looks like we have a faulty pump on our brand new Helsinki. Does anyone know if when replacing the pump, if you have to empty the water out or if you can just put caps on it to stop the water coming out?
Hi Lulu, apologies for the slow reply. Yes and no. Might be best to drain the water below the pump water inlet prior to disconnecting, otherwise the power of the water might make it hard to screw the caps on. No need to drain the hot tub fully. Hope this helps
I can’t find 1 inch chlorine tablets for my tub do you suppose crushing up a 3inch chlorine tablet and placing that inside the dispenser would work? Or be safe??
Hi Les, I would crush it up and dissolve it in warm water, then add it to the water. we use chlorine granules, we dissolve them in a little bit of hot water and add directly to the hot tub.
Hi Eric, sounds like you might have a faulty hot tub, the only bladder on the Helsinki is the area where the bubbles come through. I can’t see why there would be another area that would have water in it. Maybe the bottom of the hot tub has become unglued, and your getting some air pockets in it. I did have this happen on mine and it seamed to sort its, elf out after a few weeks
Have you had an experience of any damage yet? I’m thinking about setting up a small hot tub hire business, so doing abit of research. How easily damaged they can get is putting me off a little.
@@sharpy1695 This particular model is built very well, I’ve had my cat jump up on the side and it didn’t deflate. Time will tell but I would expect it would be durable.
Great video. I had issues with both my lid, liner and then pump. It was just after 2 years but to be fair we wrote to lazy spa and they replaced the liner and the pump (on separate occasions). I've had a plumber add a hot outside tap to speed up the initial heating process and also top up the heat a touch in the winter/cold nights (whilst in it) I never get whether you can over inflate the lid or liner. I can only assume the air comes straight out of the pump if there is enough air in there.
@@daviddavidge204 Thanks David for the kind comments about the video, makes a big difference knowing people want to comment. Your correct the main pump unit is designed to not overflate that’s why it kicks out a lot of air at the connection point, although I do use the hand pump for the lid, much quicker and easier. Love your outside hot tap, reminds me of an old boss who had a gas pipe running from inside his house to his gas bbq outside, so funny. All the best enjoy the summer and hot tub.
HI Daniel, 7 days after turning off the hot tub the water will be green. I’m not sure if your be able to rescue the water in this state, could try shocking it and treating it and see what happens.
About how long does it take to heat up first time? I probably wouldn't leave it on when it is not in use, to conserve power (gotta keep the power bill down and my wallet happy after dropping a few notes short of a thousand bucks on one of these) but when I do use it how long would I have to wait for it to be at 40°C?
Hi Andrew, when we fill ours with tap water it's typically at 11 degrees, to get it to 40 degrees will take just over 24 hours. If you do turn it off when not in use, make sure every couple of days you turn the filter on for at least 24 hours, and check the PH level, it's not pleasant getting in green water. Make sure when you inflate the hot tub, it's away from any walls, one viewer commented she got a puncture this way. Best of luck and enjoy, its a great hot and cold tub.
Hi. We have one of these and I was wondering what temp do you keep it at between uses? Do you turn it down and up again in time for use or keep it around the same temp? It cost us quite a lot in electric last year so looking for ideas. Thank you
Hi Carly it’s a great question and one I’m sure will be on many peoples minds this year as energy prices rise. Don’t be afraid to turn the hot tub off completely in the summer in between uses, just make sure that every couple of days you put the filter on for a few hours and check chlorine levels. We turned the hot tub off at the wall once for 7 days without doing anything to it and the water was a green colour, and was a little slimy at the bottom so I wouldn’t recommend it. In the UK at the moment it’s close to 30 degrees, and the hot tub when switched off doesn’t drop below 33, which is a pleasant temperature to cool off in. In cooler weather it reaches 21 degrees when off. On average the water will take 1 hour to heat 1 degrees, but will be quicker in the summer. To answer your question we turn it off between uses and decide if we’re going to use it the following day. If we’re on holiday and at home we might keep it at 39 degrees and not turn it off.
@@thedrivebygg great answer. Thank you. I kept mine at 35C all the time and turned it up to 40C for when we were going to use it. No wonder it cost us lol
Hi Adrian, full price was £870, it was on offer so paid £652. We’re really happy with it and enjoy it about 3 times a week. It’s well made, bubbles are magic and really relax the body. You will need to by a mat of some sort, chlorine, anti foaming, ph minus, and filters, but you can buy these kits online at Amazon etc. Cleaning is pretty straight forward although next time I would actually climb in the tub and celetap around the edges to get all the dirt and grit that collects over time. Your love it, don’t hesitate.
I don’t understand how to drain water out?? You just put a hose in it how does the water get sucked up?? The instructions in the manual make it seem like you unscrew the whole system and attach hose to the middle screw ..
The quickest and simplest way is to buy a pump, about £50 from memory. Alternatively you will need a hose and siphon the water out, it does work but can take along time to get the water moving.
