How To Setup "3D" 

Very cool! Brushed motors are much better at starting and stopping than brushless. I use my arm switch to "kill" the motors. A switch for normal/3d? Can you do that in Beta Flight?

Hey samm, Im a huge fan of your projects and have been subscribed for a year, I don't use beta flight I use a software program to program quadcopter features in cheap brushed quad flight controllers that use cortex ARM M3 GD32F1 chips. U can simply program them to do all sorts of things and you can download finished builds from our wikipedia. So basically my Brushless quadwas made this way: bought a brushed quad for 9 dollar. I used the parts for other builds but used the board (integrated receiver flight controller) and some smart coding and a few hacks to make it into a custom flight controller. It's all written in C code and very easy to understand. The entire gyro mapping and basic settings have been programmed by silverXXX. Sir domsen has a wikipedia page that has a few builds. Maybe if you're interested you can do a youtube video on this? I don't know if you're a fulltime youtuber and looking for projects. Do you know the H8 mini from banggood? and the H101 Floureon from gearbest? These are the quads that come with the cortex processors. I'm one of a few 10 at most that have built brushless quads with these flight controllers. And even fewer have programmed the quad to be 3D capable. My transmitter is the Devo 7E, if you have a devo or the goebisch module for the taranis. If you have one of those this would be a very awesome project.

I fly 3D Helis and don't know what you mean by "switches to transition from 3D to normal flight"

I guess it sounds like it maybe entered a vortex ring state. Long story short, that means it started flying on it's own propwash. To avoid that happening, never fly straight down, always have a little horizontal motion when going down; and avoid sudden vertical punchouts as well. And to escape it once it starts happening, you need to move horizontally; don't try to just go up because that will just reinforce the vortex ring. As for the yaw jumps, maybe something is wrong with your pids, or maybe your motors? But maybe I don't have a clue what I'm talking about; there are many people that know more about this than me.

Well Tiago is right that they don't like to descend into their own propwash. For the yaw: look in receiver tab and see if your yaw value is reliably staying at 1500 or if it is erratic. If it is then this it is a problem with your transmitter, you can fix it by widening the yaw center deadband. Never done it but it's something like that

+TiagoTiago sounds like an interesring Theory but the motors just didn't start at all and i didnt have any problems like that before

+George241312 I bought a variable pitch propeller system to play with for that vary idea. But it was terrible and didn't even work. I've also thought of using helicopter tail rotors. Ultimately my restriction is my budget

i think there was already a product for that, S500 Stingray if im not mistaken. it was featured at Flite Test a long time ago

+EBro RC blheli_s has damped light only (active breaking is always on). The brake function is something else completely. It was a temporary desync? Or does it still not work? If it just dropped an arm then raise the minimum throttle for reverse (lower number)

i got it working now do u use 3D props? i had the most transition issues with the dal cyclones bit they arent quiet symmetrical

I do. At first I did not, but inverted is just way better with 3d props

+MrAngelIsland definitely. The precision motor control is incredible. So smooth and slow and the step resolutions is very high. You can lower your motor speeds so that you can almost see the props when doing flips LOS.

I'm building my first mini quad soon. Do you think the DYS XS 20 amp would be better than say a Little Bee 20 amp?

I haven't tried either, but I would go for the DYS XS20! What motors are you going for?

I will use Emax 2205 2300kv motors.

Those are awesome! The DYS Esc's say "High-current burst rating" but they don't have a number there. Those motors can pull up to 29.9 amps when using 5045 props. Definately go with a BLHeli_S ESC. I really love my akons, I also have high expectations for the DYS and Emax ones.

Good question! I only use right hand threaded motors. As long as you use lock nuts and tighten them down, they aren't going anywhere.

I do really love the Kabab 5 and I was able to get all my learning out of the way on it and it still works great! The challenge is fitting things in there, but it can be done!
