This was clearly explained and visualized. Definitely bookmarking this video. Nice job. I feel like this system could be very practical for my house. Well done. This video must have taken quite a while to think through/film/install/edit. VO -= nice job. CG
Thank you so much! I always appreciate when someone recognizes the work that went into a video. This one particularly spanned 4-5 different days of filming, and then took me quite a while to edit as well due to all the footage I had!
I think I already have told you that some time back in the past, but as a non native english speaker you have a really awesome voice and pronunciation so that everything is clearly to understand. Although ain’t have trouble to understand people talking English quite fast, I find your voice / video / atmosphere very calming and unique. Keep it up and stay healthy:)
Thank you very much! I’m glad that my videos are still helpful to those who don’t speak English as their first language! Stay awesome and healthy yourself!
Excellent video! I especially liked how you explained how to terminate the Ethernet cable, and setting up the DVR system. Thanks for taking the time to explain everything so well!
17:44 - CAT6 you want to push it in as far as possible. You really want to maintain the twist all the way to the connection point. When I terminate cat6 the casing is basically all the way up to the pins.
Thank you! I saw your vid on the Reolink wireless wiring process, I definitely prefer CCTV along with a PTZ system. Very useful knowledge for home security and safety. Thank you.
Thanks! We bought a restaurant the ex owner all ready had a Reolink system set up. my concern is … should I reset everything and reuse it or should I buy everything again.. plus I don’t want to be observed by someone else that I not even know. And your video help me a lot I don’t have any idea about how this work but you explained so well and help me . Thanks 🙏🏻
Excellent job and very well explained. Thank you so much! I just need four cameras on a remote garage that does not have internet, so these look as though they're just what a I need. Thanks again!
Thanks so much Carson for helping me to make my decision of getting security camera for my home. I've been thinking and looking for a while but I was not sure which to get. Your video is very helpful. Thank you. God bless.
Great video Carson. It's probably made me realise that I would need someone professional to install the system, however I really appreciate the review of the RLK.
Very good video. Thanks for sharing. I specifically like the round plate, with the blue old work electrical box you used in the ceiling. THAT really looked factory designed. The rectangular install looks sub-par. Going to look for some your previous videos.
Lollll - luckily, like I said, this install was for a ‘client’ (actually a distant family member), SO the install won’t impact me, but it surely will their kids in that aspect! They’ll be caught red handed in 4k ultra resolution haha
You look like Brandon Miller from the fishing channel and his family. You share last names but you must be cousins or close relation. Great videos keep up the good work!
If anything you do favorites but it's another individuals and show a science friend Bill Ny. The troubles a lot from Seattle to Hawaii to the Bahamas at least you should invest it
As I see this is about a year old, have you been faced with lightening nearby causing the system to crash and reboot. I am near the capital of lightening here in the US and experienced originally lightening knocking out the cameras so that they needed to be replaced. I replaced the electrical box with a plastic one and that eliminated that issue. Now I have a 16 unit NVR that lightening knocking the whole unit even though it's on UPS. boxes for this are connected to metal eve's and I think this is providing a ground that may be feeding back through the system to have it trip.
Ugh... 18:30 - you didn't use the connection protector Reolink provided you with. May not seem necessary, but it does help keep it dry when water gets into the box (and it will)
Is it possible to turn off the IR on one of the cameras? I'm gonna mount one of the cameras inside pointing outside through the window glass and am afraid there will be a glare because of the IR. Please answer if you know) Thank you.
None really it’s purely a style thing and which you prefer. Bullet cameras are generally slightly cheaper so if you need to save money, you might by going with them over domes. The downsides of bullet cameras is it’s easier to tell where the camera is pointing at so if you don’t someone to tell that, then a dome may be the better option. Otherwise the Reolink domes and bullets are the exact same!
Normally bullet cameras were for outdoor use due to their long range capabilities while domes are for wide angle and Normally installed Indoors. Either of them can be use and it's your preference.
Great video!! Have a question, im assuming you may use one a poe switch downstream to avoid having to install a cable per camera. I want to install several camaras that are all near each other and also quite far away from the nvr.
@Sergio Nunez You must have one RJ45 cable routed from each camera to the NVR so an audio/video feed is supplied. An alternative with ReoLink is to use wireless cameras for locations you don't want to run ethernet cable.
De verdad, muy buen trabajo amigo. Por favor, ¿podrías averiguar si se pueden hacer backups de las grabaciones en Google Drive del NVR del Reolink? Espero puedas ayudarme con esa duda. Muchas gracias y saludos desde Chile.
So helpful video! Thanks for sharing with us. I just have a question, did you use any switch to connect the cameras to the router? Any specific ip or internet config you made?
Please stay safe And thats all that i am going to be saying to you guys about that much Sir because of course that i really do mean that And thats The Truth of The matter of fact Sir.!'
My most recent video answers this question! Go check it out: How To Connect PoE Cameras Miles Away To A NVR! || Reolink NVR || Ubiquiti PTP Wireless Bridge Setup ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iUM2RiVBHAo.html
Thank you for the great video tutorial. I have a question regarding the connection from the switch to the NVR or vice versa. I will be setting up a full wired ethernet system in my house. Do i need to run the NVR through the switch ?
All of the additional holes in the front of Reolinks mounting box / plate look awful, plus when it pisses down with rain it appears like that box will become a water catcher as a result of the additional holes. Are those holes drilled all the way through ?
How to save on cables? Are the following variants possible?: Variant 1: If I want to cover several remote yards/zones, can I use ethernet hubs to save on cables? Can each zone have 3-4 cameras connected to a hub and then use a single cable to connect each hub to a centralized NVR in my home? And also use 4-port NVR to connect 4 hubs with 7-8 cameras connected to each hub? Variant 2: Do cameras have two ethernet ports - IN/OUT in order to chain a long line of cameras with one cable? A cable gets OUT of one camera and gets IN another camera and then all these cameras are connected to hub/NVR with a single cable. Leading a dedicated cable to each camera sounds ridiculously overwhelming.
Hello, The biggest concern for me is the availability to retrieve footage easily and possibly download to a file to give to authorities. In that regard, how does the Reolink handle? Thank you!
Hi, I ordered this just there. I live next door to my parents and want to put 4 cams around their house and 4 on my house. Can I do it so that I only need to run one cable between the two houses using a poe switch in their house and running a single cable to the NVR box in my house. I know a few things about networking and this should be at least theoretically possible.
Yes! You could also do it wirelessly without even needing to run a wire too, check out this video I made last month that shows your exact scenario: How To Connect PoE Cameras Miles Away To A NVR! || Reolink NVR || Ubiquiti PTP Wireless Bridge Setup ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iUM2RiVBHAo.html
So I have a question I just brought one for my girlfriend I got the 4 camera pack, she wants one camera facing back, one camera facing side of the house, one camera facing front of house,an one camera on the garage facing out towards the street. but the thing is the garage not connected to the house it’s few feet away from house how can I get that camera connected to the box in the house if it’s weird?
Great video! But let’s say I want to install 4 cameras on one side of my house and another 4 on the opposite side. Is there a smart switch for Poe that I can connect all 8 to in my attic space but only one wire to my nvr below ?
How do you get clients? Do they buy the nvr packages on their own and call you to install? Or do you buy the nvr packages and go to them? Can you explain how you charge the customer?
The “client” in this video is actually a family member, haha! They had seen my prior video and asked for my help on installing a new system and I told them that I would do it for free if I could film the endeavor and post it to RU-vid
Hi there I have a few questions if I may Which is better dome cameras or the bullet cameras Does the systems have a app for your phone especially iPhone Also can you change out the hard drives are they just standard internal hard drives as I do not like Seagate drives I would prefer to have western digital installed inside is that possible thanks
Brilliant video! I am just in my search for a system and never heard of this brand. Is there a newer model since this video you would recommend. Whats your thoughts on lorex?
I’m a little unclear on the connection to a network system. I assume since this can operate without an internet connection the cameras are getting POE power from being plugged into the NVR. Does the network system require a powered switch? I’m planning a network setup in addition to the security system. Just don’t understand if I need to purchase a POE switch for my network cabinet. I’m new and just learning about network setup.
Nope! Here is how it goes: - Cameras plug into POE NVR ethernet ports - NVR itself can plug into your network via any ethernet port on your network. i.e., it does not need a POE connection to your network since it is powered by its own external power supply and does not require power over an ethernet line TL;DR: You can plug the NVR into a regular non-POE switch, but you cannot plug the cameras themselves into regular switch.
Hey mate, great video by the way. I have a question if I may, I need to install some cameras that will be relatively low to the ground 2.3m to be exact. My understanding is dome cameras are ment to be more vandle proof ( harder to pull off the wall ect) but it looked like someone could just walk up and unscrew it? is this the case? does something lock it in and I missed it?
I mean I suppose you could but usually you wouldn’t want to because that’s a point of failure should the coupler go bad or the connection get loose or corrosion occurs on the pins within there
Backup to step 1. Does the kit come with a mouse and keyboard, or does that software setup require a PC? If so, what about setup for customers with Mac/iPad hardware?
thank you for the discount code. almost covered the taxes. I didn't go with this model but 8 camera system 4k. Just wondering if you can change the resolution to get higher FPS? I would love to hit 60fps but 30 would be fine too. 4k at 20fps really doesn't look great to me.
No, that’s unfortunately not possible. I thought that 20fps was crazy as a video creator myself until you realize how much more data a 30fps stream over a 1 hour timeframe at 4K resolution can add to the hard drive. I really don’t think you’ll be disappointed with the 20fps. I wasn’t! I’m still not. It gives you enough that you can surely capture a frame of a license plate or a person’s face when necessary.
Awesome work in making this video thanks for your time and patience. Keep up the great work. One question the way the cam locks into the mount seems too easy for someone to take off to me. Does it go on an off that easy?
