Great video Brian! I love these longer tutorial style videos. This one will be a slow grower but I'll bet it'll make money for years ! I have the station bit I'm hesitant to start parking automations on it at the minute . I just did a whole mini series on smart things security. Free security ! What an invention that not even smart things advertises
Excellent coverage on the SAMSUNG STATION. Im using a version 2 Samsung hub and waswondering if it would advantageous to add this hub or should i trh to.upgrade to.the vesion 3 hub. Also i have alot of devices thatarent working.off edge drivers, can you show how move them over to an available edge driver? Thanks, enjoying you channel!
Hopefully not a dumb question but why would I add this hub or switch to this hub if I have a smartthings hub by Aeotec already is it good to have 2 hubs?
Hey, it seems I can’t add the station from smart things app on iPhone, is this normal? I am trying to test out the compatibility issue with smart things but is it mandatory to have a Samsung mobile phone? Please let me know, thanks!
Does smart thing station exposes Samsung tv functions to matter ? Like can I control my TV function like volume,HDMI input etc with Apple home app ? (Because the station is matter enabled )
Hi, I just got this device. How many devices can it support Also, if I have the old 2nd gen Samsung Smartthings Hub. Do I need to keep my old One too? Please let me know thanks
I don't know how many it can support, but the app has limits of 200. I wouldn't keep your old hub, but understand that there's no z-wave...so that might give you a reason. :)
Hey, so I have had my ST for about 2 years now. Is there any thing I can do to cleanup all the junk/ensure all the devices are setup properly? I always struggle with adding devices and it takes a while and never seems to be the same way... If I did want to wipe it and reinstall EVERYTHING, A REAL PAIN, what steps would I take to get everything done right the easiest way? I have about 60 devices... The reason I am asking is I have some devices fairly far away and they don't seem to update status very fast and sometimes not at all. They frequently say offline then come back on sometime later... It's a real pain... It can take 10 to 30 seconds to do it's thing... Or not at all... Thanks,
This video will explain the differences - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VETtNXYuCx8.htmlsi=t-haMC7hus0JYzSs It's in the middle of that video that we compare 3 hubs
If you have Z-Wave devices, you need to remove those through a proper Z-Wave removal process. You have to set the hub into that mode. It's in the settings for your hub in smartthings to start that process. For Zigbee devices, you can just reset the device and it'll disappear. Same for WiFi stuff usually, though those are usually coming from another service. So you just disconnect that service
There is a setting to disable the blue status light, however when your phone is charging it displays a red light that you can't disable. Frustrating for something meant to charge your phone next to your bed presumably!
Hi Brian. I'm looking for a simple "button" to trigger home/away routines I have created in Google Home (two of which via the Script Editor) because Google's presence sensing is absolutory awful. Will this work?! I literally just want a button at my front door that my wife and I can press when we get home and when we leave the house to trigger my Nest Cameras on (Indoor and Outdoor) and Hue lights off then vice versa - Nest Cams off/hue lights on. My voice commands work for this but it's not always a good time to use voice commands. Presence sensing routine for this works 40% of the time at best. My goal is so simple, yet so hampered by being an early adopter of Google's Ecosystem but I'm invested. I was also a Gen1 adopter of Philips Hue so I don't even have to tell you THAT is an investment. Any guidance is much appreciated.
Yes, but if you want to start routines in Google, you may need to use Virtual Switches. I have a video on my main channel that will help you with that. Look up the Best Edge Drivers for SmartThings and you'll find it here on YT. Otherwise, yes, it'll work. Press the button, turn on nest cams. Double press, turn off. And yes, Hue will work too :)
@@TechYourLife1 Thanks so much, Brian. I watched that video before(I watch all of your vids) but didn't really see it as something I would need but now I'll definitely watch it again!
Sometimes cases get in the way if they're very thick, otherwise it just happens. 1 thing to check, make sure your adapter can provide enough power to enable the charging component. If you bought the Samsung with the hub it will definitely do it.
So the new SmartThings Station from Samsung is not compatible with zwave then. Thats a pity cause i find zwave battery devices to be far more reliable than zig bee battery devices. Zig bee devices work fine in my house once they are electricly powered ie zig bee plugs and zig bee light bulb. I'll stick with my older samsung smartthings hub the one without wifi.
I just got one a few days ago it came with the charger, and the station itself runs hot when charging my samsung s21+ And also if you know I have a galaxy smarttag2 and it keeps beeping .. Any idea as to why
That's weird. I've used my Station with both an iPhone and an Android and have managed Matter connection. Lots of times Matter fails, but that's not a phone thing
@@TechYourLife1 It just doesn't do it. Like to the point I have to return it. It just does not work for me. I have absolutely no idea why. Everything is up to date, Samsung app, iOS, Firmware, etc. It always fails on adding to iCloud. Only twice did it connect but then failed to connect to Smartthings Station. It's been two days of me looking up information, trying to figure out what the problem is. My Matter devices connect immediately to my Echo Dot. So there's a problem there somewhere.
