it worked! im using the Astro A50 for Xbox Series X i just switched to PC and it wok on my PS5 i broke my pulse 3d headset last night by accident and I remembered that I had my Astro from my Xbox Series X Thanks a lot!

This is a solid video had no idea I had to press that button while it was on the dock, I didn’t have instructions so this saved me from wasting a lot of time

Second the optical plug needs to be plug into the back of you tv to get the true sound and feeling of the built-in mix amp the Sony removed the optical port from the ps5 so if you tv or monitor has the optical port you want to plug it in there .

quick question with the audio output changing from linear to adolby i have 2 options? adolby audio and adolby astos?

Now the real question. Any way to adjust settings, such as sidetone level, without having a PC? Or how to get the dock to charge the headset when the PS5 is in rest mode? Despite all the settings for rest mode being correct to provide continuous USB power, the dock does not have any power unless my PS5 is actively on.

I got a ps5 and pc, but i'm using the astro a50 for my pc, do I HAVE to connect the base station directly to my pc? My desk does not have space to fit the base station and connect it near my pc. I wish it was USB like the astro a20s as that was the previous astro set I wore

My brother has the Xbox A50s but leaves the dock on PC mode, it works fine but I can hear all of his audio through his microphone some how? Even though it’s in his headphones and not the tv, game sounds menu sounds my own voice I can hear. Then we turn the input deduce to controller microphone and the problem goes away

I have an older generation Astro a40 headset, about 10 years old, I plugged the optical cord into my tv and I can hear the audio from the PS5 fine, but I can’t talk. Do I have to buy this adapter to talk or is there a cord I can buy that plugs into the mix amp & controller?

So question, is it charging when the lights are blinking white, and it’s white on the on button. Or does it have to be blinking red and orange on the on button? Also do you turn it on, by making the button be towards the electrical symbol or away?

This is fucking ridiculous why make it so difficult to hookup to a ps5 whenever every other headset has a dongle to connect with Bluetooth in like 2 mins

As someone else said you need the Astro audio extractor for ps5 from Astro to be on the safe side. Without going into the intricacies of the audio this will not work properly without the optical out (that the PS4 has) (thanks for cost cutting there Sony) That’s where the Astro audio extractor comes in. Astro have also put a video up showing how to accomplish this. I’d also recommend a usb hub for the back of your ps5 (because you will loose those ports otherwise) with at least 5 gig per second data transfer. The things we have to do to get round Sony’s blunders. Xbox series x however you don’t need this as it carry’s the audio differently

Ok but something I'm still confused is that if you get let's say the PS5 version of the A50s could you connect them to a PC, tablet, phone or anyother console? Or if you get a specific version of the A50s you can only connect them to the device they were made for...

Guys so this does work, if you want sound without being able to use the base station to edit game chat/regular chat then this is for you! BUT, If you want to use the a50’s to it’s full potential, use the Dolby surround sound setting and the actual presets on the headset you need an audio extractor. The sound, sounds way better when plugged in through optical cable/hdmi 2.1. Now the Astro adapter the company sells max’s out at 4K/60hz that’s an L for ps5 users. So you’d need to buy a $120 AVSTAR Audio extractor to achieve 4k/120hz while achieving the highest sound quality possible. Insane right?? I know it’s horrible these prices are crazy! I just wanted to spread some knowledge because I’m currently in this situation and just purchased the new extractor after wasting $50+ on the astro one after using this method shown in the video for some time now. Again, the method shown in the video isn’t bad and gives semi good results but for the price of $300+ for a headset your not achieving the sound quality you deserve by only using USB connectivity. The base station is useless with this method..

My voice/game chat buttons work opposite and dont work like my Xbox X50 gen 3 do, anyone else have this issue? Thanks 😊

I don’t get it. What are you connecting for audio if you aren’t using the HDMI adapter kit? You can’t just plug in the USB to the PS5 and get audio.. there’s more to it..
