HOW TO SETUP CONSOLE PORT on ROG ALLY in World of Warcraft

You need to use macro target friendly. You have about 40 key bindings to use. But I don’t think you can PvP with controller, you just can’t turn the camera quick enough. The same as hunters, you can’t kite with a controller….

I would just try to remap them to M and B key using your mouse software or try to use the blizzard in game keybinds changing them from those keys

Yeah you have the right idea switching to desktop and then right stick downpress, I think there may be an option to bind it in console port keybindings but I’d have to check. One of those tiny annoyances that requires the upmost configuration from the user 😞

@@Rhoody I was looking but couldn't find anything that worked.

If you select character specific and set up everything with the mod turned off it will mirror the global settings, but sometimes there is usually a button or two that ends up moving places. I would recommend to set it up on your ally first after a SS of your computer layout and figure out the best solution that doesn’t mess up your PC setup. It’s a confusing process because there are like 3 binding systems at work here. With careful details and a custom selection you can prevent any changes it’s just going to require a lot of custom skill bindings. I ended up playing a lot more on ALLY so I just moved buttons to the key bind on PC even though I didn’t like there position on the bar. I hope this helps.

You can open the console port menu with the three line button on the ally and scroll over to character tab and there’s inventory in the catagory. The retail version has the mini bar so you can screen tap your bags or I like to set up the back button on the ally to be the B keyboard key. You can do that in the rog ally command center and bind and of the buttons. I like the back ones for common shortcuts. Hope that helps

I use a macro to open ui like bag, spells talent skills, you can keybind them or make an U ring. And for bags maps, you do have default keybindings in consoleport setups

I think you click in the thumbsticks?

You can switch over to desktop control mode and then use your thumb sticks with a double click mouse bind. I just forgo opening anything till I use my wireless mouse usually and do all that business in one shot.

On a Xbox controller it’s A B Y buttons for items in the bag. But it has some bugs with level 2 items for example a junk box, clam, which you need to right click to open. You need to finger tap them

I think you might be in desktop mode, switch it over to game pad and see if that works

It actually my control interface haha.. manage to solve it! But i have another question.. is it possible to set different profile or something between console and keyboard for skill placement? example if i set crusader strike for console setting at B and when i switch to keyboard i set crusader strike at keyboard 1. However when i switch back to console setting, crusader strike no longer at B it will jump to Y. any advice on this? thank you

Hey thanks for watching! This is weird because it’s supposed to be able to move the camera as a default. If this is still a big issue I would go into the console port menu in game and in the first section where you chose controller, reselect the Xbox controller and load default bindings. This should clear it up with some minor nuisances you might have to fix. Let me know if it helps!

Thanks for reply :) sadly I already tried it without success :( hoped there is any specific way to fix it. But after seeing your video my whole "control" tab after selecting the device is missing, dunno how to fix it

I dunno if the latest version will work with a custom client and server, you may have to download an older version of consoleport that matches with your client. That may be hard to figure out.

@@Rhoody I tried few old versions and none of them worked. I will try few more but I’m not sure why they not work if they are visible on addons list.

Try going into the console port settings and reloading the controller and accepting the default keybinds. Sometimes this will fix your buttons, let me know if it works.

@@Rhoody Yeah nothing works. It still says to hold the button down to bound it but it doesnt? Even after uninstalling the consoleport and reinstalling it.

Do you have latest version? If you can reload controller selection from console port settings and load default when it asks you to. I haven’t logged in since the patch so there might be some bugs right now till it gets updated.

Yeah my last stream I’ve been lagging quite a bit too. Do you know what your ping on server and world is? This will show if it’s network or not. If not long try to lower graphics settings and try that.

Hello! At the start you will need the client to download the folder. After that you can directly go to the folder and launch the .exe file to launch the game without the client. The pain is that you will have to enter your account password each login and it is a bit more risky even on your own machine. Also when there is an update to the game the client is how blizzard feeds in a new patch so you would have to get the launcher each time there is an update. I am a day 1 wow player so I know these launchers seems ridiculous but the blizzard one isnt bad at all and there’s even an option to exit the launcher once wow starts if your concerned about cpu usage. Hi rabbit, I recently got a ROG ALLY back again and can help you! I believe your issue would be that the addon is not in your wow folder, or not loading proper. Make sure you have the latest update and you can also log into your character and go to the addon options inside of wows settings. The new addons box at the login screen is at the very top under menu. I could prob show you in my next live stream if you want.

@@Rhoody no retail but I’ve got it working now had to change direct 12 to direct 11 but my mini map isn’t showing

@@teamXxSNIPERXx yeah dx11 if back screen problem but I don’t know about mini map. Maybe look at the version of console port. If it got updated or maybe you can go to an older version. Around patch time now is when issues appear so it is normal but they fix it fast

The ALLY has built in keyboard in command center you can select it and it will pop up

On the ROG ally you can change it over to desktop mode and then press down on the right stick and the cursor you will be able to move around with the stick. Just don’t forget to go back to controller mode after you’re done with cursor stuff. Hope this helps!

Yes, I’m getting this in wow classic. It’s very scary on hardcore and I haven’t seemed to find what’s causing it. It happened at the end of my last live stream. For now we can only compare maybe? What addons are you running if any???

@@Rhoody when I first got it, I only had console port and it still did that. My work around on logging into another character first works like a charm

Run it in Direct X 11

Does it tell you disconnected and go back to server menu or does your screen just go black?. If it’s just the black and somewhat of a crash then try changing the directX to 11 in video settings.

@@c-onebadmintoncourts oh yeah that’s in armory crate for the controls, I use the gamepad so you would go to the bindings for gamepad, then when you select a button there’s a little gear cog where setting will pop up and you can select turbo. Hope this helps!!!!

Hi hawk! Yes the way I found is to go into armory crate > settings > control mode > configuration and then select the proper back button and bind that to a keyboard key. In wow I like to use the escape key for menu and bags so ESC and B keyboard letter, but whatever you chose is up to you. Then that Gamepad profile will follow you in game. At which point you can use console port to bind those keys you selected to the action you would like, but if they are keys that wow has already assigned in config like the button I chose they will normally already work. @@Rhoody just to understand this right. So if I bind them to whatever on keyboard I could then put them on my ui and use them as spells. Let’s say blink and frost nova ;) Cause I played the mage. Cause the whole thing seems a bit to much. I was a heavy wow player from vanilla till legion high rated pvp. And now I got the ally and everyone says try it out man. But all this press RT to change spells and LT for other spells etc. to much to have fun. Maybe not will definitely try it. Great video will sub. 👍🏻

Hey! You can go into the armory crate settings and access the control layout, from there you can select the back buttons and bind them to any function in that mode.

@@Rhoody i tried binding one to alt and the other to cntrl but it wouldn’t register in the game.

Say I start wow and close out of the menu is there a command to bring up the console port menu?

You can change it in the options but on the ally it’s the button with the three horizontal lines or escape as defaults

Hey Ryan thanks for watching! Well you get used to it in those scenarios and it’s becomes quite fluid, the hardest part without a mouse is really inventory stuff. You can watch some of my live streams where I do raid finder and see it isn’t a bother at all. It depends on the class but for the most part it is very playable!

@@Rhoody okay sweet, cuz I can’t even stayed logged in long enuf to open the settings anymore, keeps saying gamepad disconnected then it’ll reload then disconnect and freeze again and reload over and over lol

For 60 FPS you could go up to preset 5 and maybe adjust shadows or water lower depending on what you would like. I turn mine down lower just because on the smaller screen I have a hard time noticing some of the quality changes and just like max FPS. Your temp will be fine no matter how much you push it, I’ve been streaming from the ALLY and playing wow since release and haven’t had any issues. Just use DX 11 if you play classic otherwise it will crash. Thank you for watching and let me know if you have any issues.

@@Rhoody if I press it in nothing happens. When I go onto a menu the cursor is there but doesn't move but my character is moving in game

In wow go to your settings and then graphics option. Scroll down to Graphics API and change DirectX12 to DirectX11. This has to be DirectX11 on the ALLY

You can use the action targeting, cross hair select, bind a button to target nearest enemy, or touch on the touch screen.

Yes it will, but in the action bar config in console port you can set up your Ally binds to mirror those exact abilities on each separate action bar, it’s a little complex to explain, but you can do it. I might have to make a video on this, but it’s in there it’s just clunky to get it perfect but possible.

I just use a Bluetooth mouse but when I do t have that I switch the game mode on the ally to desktop and push down on the right stick, it then lets you move a mouse cursor around and you can bind click functions to any key you like in that mode.

Yeah that’s a good point @lordetorment I have been adding additional modules to compliment the initial video where there are a lot of questions so perhaps that could be one.

I made some tips on combat and looting couple of weeks ago. You can search for it. Back than I was using a backbone Xbox controller. I have no problem of bring the game menu up, just the controller menu button. But now I just got my rog ally, how should I map the menu button on the rog ally?

It might if using the same build sequence. Throw it into your addons folder and try it, there’s a bunch of versions to try

Hello and thanks for watching. The first step is to make sure the rog ally is up to date on all patches. So all the updates in the MyASUS app and also all the updates in armory crate. Then make sure your graphics api is DX11 and your in game pad mode. Let me know if this solved your problem.

Hello you can go into console port menu and then on the first part of controller set up re select the Xbox controller and load the defaults. This should fix it.
