To answer another FAQ: when using the Cardo intercom, we take the audio from the GoPro and sync it 👍🏼

Handy hints - for the angle of the camera, get the lens paralell with the angle of the visor when closed.

For anybody that wants especially high quality and pretty gopro footage, simply add an "ND Filter" for the lens. They're used my videographers and film makers. You can buy a set for not too much money. They greatly improve the video quality. Nice vid 👌🏻

Al I always use Sugru mouldable glue, I have an agv k3 and the pointed profile at thd chin is sorted with Sugru. It also comes off when you want to remove the mount. 👍👊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Bought a hero 9 black and wanted to start making review videos on all the bikes I can ride daily/weekly, thank you for this 👌🏾

Another top vid lads 👍🏻 I used Sugru to mount onto my AGV. It’s like putty so you can mould it and trim excess. Takes a few hours to cure then it’s solid. Comes in different colours too!

Happy to share my secret to good audio: i use an external recorder, bit of faff to sync in post but means I don't need the gopro adapter but... and here is the big one, massively recommend purple panda mic!! Is the best one for sure and have used many different ones! My audio recorder helps with further settings to reduce wind but the purple panda mic works great with the gopro settings too! Big fan of the session camera which makes my lid setup smaller but obviously the 7 with stabilisation is the best although the 9 is pretty good now too. Nice one!

A quick removable and solid solution I've found is the Dango Designs Gripper Mount.

You can use the mic adaptor you have for your Hero 7 in the Hero 8 and Hero 9, saves running the Media Mod. You do then need to get a Ulanzi door to secure the battery compartment.

Epic job with what you've got access to. Curious to see if designs like the Forcite helmet are going to cut it. I've got one and setup is: turn on, pair with phone/app, hit record.

Im still using the Drift HD from back in the BVG days, the rotational lens just makes sense and I mount right on top of my Helmet (which needs to be at correct angle) but its streamline I find.

Just a tip for the sticky mounts. You can get them custom made for a given helmet if you do some googling. I used "Ride Tech" for my shoei spirit x3 fits perfectly uses 3M tape

i have mounted with the Suru paste on the Helmet,it fits perfectlly and its posiblle to mounted on any position and Angle.And hold like nothing else,and you can dismantle without any scrach on the Helmet

I use Sugru to fix the mount onto the helmet and never had an issue, heat resistant and very strong. Can be removed fairly easily too

I used "Sugru" to mount mine on the chin of a Shoei GT Air 2. Worked a treat. Tricky to make it neat with the vent there, but managed eventually.Very hard to pull off but when I did I was able to rub the rest off back to a clean helmet finish, no marks, scuffs or discolouring. Recomend it, comes in different colours.....and no I don't work for sugru.

I found SUGRU mouldable glue is best, Can get it in few colors, I use black Nige, 2 packs is plenty for a gopro mount. Love the channel

That chin ball-mount from GoPro made me irrationally happy when I found it... SOOO much easier to mount compared to the other mounts.

For the AGV one you could 3D print a plate that match’s the shape then use 3m tape.

I use the GoPro hero 8 and media Mod with the 3.5mm mic input. No messing about with a microphone adapter then. Brucie Bonus!

Another stability mod you can do is you can get a rubber insert for the go pro mount clip to stop it shaking and also to stop the clip accidentally coming undone

Another thing is with the mic plugged in you record the audio directly with the video no need to syncing? Do you do any specific audio gains on the gopro for the mic? There's a £20 mount for the AGV Pista GP-RR, that's what I used and if you angle it right its fine (I have old PoV vids with a GoPro 8 Black).

On my AGV, I bought some 3M tape and put an extra thin strip down either side of the sticky pad so it ended up flush across the pointy bit

Have you ever tried the camera mount from Woodcraft that bolts to the mirror mtg holes. You can't really get a good mic connection unless you go wireless, but it's an interesting POV.

I still can't get over how good that Arai looks 😍

Sugru is great at filling the gaps.. you can ditch the sticky pad if you use it :)

I use a separate audio device an Olympus that cost about £30 (no need for the latest model), it means a wire into my Jacket but cheaper and very good audio (the mic adaptor got bad anyway and crackled a lot at speed), I also use a little sugru to neaten up the mount and even mask and paint it. Even on this helmet the way I do mine with sugru it will mount perfectly vertically, just about any Helmet will be ok. I'm using a four and a half y/o Sony stereo mic that is still great, not available here anymore but you can get them in Japan, which is a pain if I replaced it.

Chris’ just the tip. Anyway…. I’d also recommend the DJI osmo action camera. I have both go pro and the osmo and I have to say I prefer the video colouring and detail from the osmo. Mic adaptor is cheaper too.

How you frame what you want to film is extremely important. That's why studying how the pro's is worth the effort. I also agree that gopro is the way to go. However mine has taken to bricking SD cards at random.

whilst we're on the topic, any suggestions on where to stick go pro/drift on a track bike (for uk days - if we ever get them again) so as to get the best footage for reviewing things like your body positioning etc? one that doesn't involve asking your mate to ride behind you the whole time!

The new GoPro has an integrated mount thing which is amazing, no need to fiddle with the case anymore. "Unfortunately" I have a vent on the front of my Arai so need to have the sticky semi-side and have some finicky abomination mount to bring it in almost center. I also tried external sound recorder under the back seat - gives great audio of the bike and the surroundings but bit too much work to start and stop when it is under the seat and also an effort to sync in post (though I am noob at editing).

For Agv corsa and pista owner ridetech offers a mount designed for the shape of the helmet, for a sleeker solution 👌

I have an AGV and fiberglassed my base GoPro 'sticky' to the helmet after preparing that small area of the helmet of course. Very neatly I might add :) ..no temp worries and it will never come off. Where I'm surprised is your sound. I have the same setup, but a different mic around the same price. Your sound is way better and I thought you were using a separate recorder like a Sony/Zoom/Tascam/Roland or something like that which some RU-vid bike channels bike riders use.. Do you as well?

There’s a nice chin go pro mount that I use on my helmet where you can bend the arms with adhesive right onto the helmet. Feels more secure than their regular mounts. Also which picture mode do you use for your videos? Nice vid! I need to set up a mic like this

Just use a Drift action camera. Waterproof, very slim & streamlined, side of helmet ideal and no it will not pull your head due to torpedo shape. Rotating lens for perfect position, plug in mic & fit to inside helmet. And finally the remote wrist mounted control to start stop & change settings on the go. What's not to like? Superb quality.

What is a good camera recommendation (no mic needed).

I used Sugru on my AGV K3's mounts which have held up beautifully. When I had my Session 5, I also bought that 50 bloody dollar mic adapter and it was terrible.it'd lose its connection to the gopro, be partially in and give loads of static, and I ended up running my mic to a cheap audio recorder. Which is fine in post with Resolve syncing audio, but forget to press record on the audio and there's no audio... I have a hero 7 now, maybe I'll try that 50 bloody dollar adapter again.

A quick tip for the GoPro Hero9: If you use the Media Mod, in order to use the 3.5mm mic, the back screen protector won't simultaneously fit. The problem with this is you could chip your Hero 9 rear screen while the media mod is installed. This was a problem with the 8, but was fixed.

How do you make that set up waterproof? Seen you guys filming in the rain, and I know the gopro is waterproof, but not when you have the audio port open. Plus sticking the audio adapter to outside would be a problem in the wet right? Great content and plenty of innuendo to keep me focused on your helmet. Thank you

Is it just me that noticed that Nige's mic isn't working and his audio is boosted from the camera's internal? Chris' audio clarity is a clear giveaway.

The cage mount, is called a GoPro swivel mount, or ball joint mount.

Silly question gents, do you just start recording before you set off or is there an easy way to start and pause recording in the fly ? Would imagine trying to press the right buttons on the GoPro is tricky once yr moving, I wonder how you'd know if it's actually started recording ? Sorry for the dull question You guys are absolute legends 🏅🏅

Sugru is the dogs danglies for mounting a camera if your helmet is a bit "bumpy".
