Thank you so much for the video. I'm not sure if I missed it, but for the part of the weight are you including the packaging as well. For example my package a lone is 0.04 oz. My stickers of course is less than that. I'm also trying to use first class mail and package. So instead of labels I'm using stamps. Any tips?

The weight would be the final packaged weight. Meaning after you package it. Hope this helps.

Hello, Edwin. I have been using pirate ship for my orders. Can I use pirate ship with Shopify. Can you please do a tutorial on how to incorporate those prices instead of Shopify. I also want to offer free shipping to my customers. I did free shipping on the shipping & delivery section. Is that enough? Maybe in your video you can how to do free shipping as well. Thank you, I find you tutorials very easy to follow along. Please don’t stop making tutorials for us people that are not computer savvy. I’m old school from back in the day when having a typewriter was a luxury lol

Thank you this video was super helpful! However, I do have one quick question. Can the labels be automatically purchased when fulfilling an order from Shopify after the customer completes their purchase or do I need to create an account directly with USPS or does Shopify Shipping handle that.

Depending on where youre located, you can buy the label from Shopify themselves or you can use a 3rd party app to purchase the label.

This was very helpful so when the “calculated price shows” how do I know if I will have to pay anything out of pocket when I go to ship at usps is there a guide in how to determine that? I just want to make sure I’m not blindsided when I get to usps and they are charging me a lot.

Calculated prices are prices directly from USPS servers. To prevent you not overpaying, I advise you use Shopify to buy and print your labels.

@@Edwintopdigital ahhhh perfect thank you this entire time I was confused this video helped tremendously so just to make sure if I am using Shopify to print labels I’m not paying the shipping it’s technically my customers if I’m using their carrier prices. For example, I set up shipping @ my product is $9 & shipping for the customer was $7.50 per usps. if I print out my labels from Shopify I’m not being charged out of my own pocket it, it is technically the customer. I would just make only the profit of $9 then?

You said it depends on the type of product your selling if USPS if right for you can you give an example? For instance majority of my product is in Poly mailers but i do have a few items with will be boxed.

Yes. Typically small weight items are good for USPS. Its cheaper. But lets say your item is very heavy, then USPS would be the most expensive for you. That you would need UPS instead. Its good to shop around.

Great video thank you so much! I still have a question though…Should i included the weight of my package on the products weight as well? I have the weight of the item, but what about the shipping supplies such as bubble mailer and tissue paper, does usps take those in consideration too? Because those will add a little more to the weight, so how does that work? Thank you so much!

Yes. Buy yourself a scale, pack the item up ready for ship, weigh the item, place that on the site for weight if your are selling shipping based on weight via First class mail. However, if you're shipping priority, none of that matters. The final packaged weight is what USPS will charge you for first class mail. Priority as long as it fits in the box, it doesnt matter.

thanks for video but i should have to have account with USPS ? please ready my scope ( have been dealing with two suppliers in the United States for the past five or six years to sell products in my country through traditional methods. Now, I have decided to open a Shopify account and have agreed with these two online stores to dropship their products. I have successfully integrated with one store using an Excel sheet and with the other store using the Syncee app. However, I am still struggling with how to calculate shipping prices to provide these stores with shipping labels and packing lists. When I checked with Shopify, they requested an upgrade to a Plus plan, and I need to have an account with a carrier company.) sorry i wrote full story

I totally understand. I cover this in my Academy course on different methods you can diversify shipping. You dont have to buy the Plus plan. You can instead invest in my Academy and find the cheaper solution there.

Thank you so much for. the video, it was very helpful! one question, I have the priority mail flat rate envelope from USPS. Can I still offer different options of. shipping such as ( USPS priority mail, priority mail express, USPS parcel select ground ) with those same envelopes? Also, I'd like to give the option for free shipping over 160$ how do I do it?? Thank you for your help!

From what I recall, Priority Mail can only be used for Priority Shipping and nothing more. But if I were you, I would ask your local post office just in case. As I recall there is a separate envelope for Express etc.

hey, guys is it possible to charge a custom shipping rate based on a set of conditions like: 5$ shipping fee for items between 0$ and 20$ and select one carrier for all orders? i would like shopify to route all orders to USPS.

Yes this can be programmed manually in the Shopify backend. You can create ranges for a shipping policy.

What do you do when you have products that need to go in different size boxes? Shopify requires you to select a default package size and what I am experiencing is that if the default box size is too small or too large, it displays inaccurate shipping rates on the customer checkout page that either over/under charges shipments depending on the actual size of the product and box it needs to be shipped in. For that I would advise you to perform shipping rates based on weight. Then Shopify should charge based on the weight of the product no matter how big the box is. I can dive deeper and look inside your account but for Academy Ecommerce members only. Click here to learn more: bit.ly/46f4byt

@@Edwintopdigital All of my products have correct weights specified. The actual issue is that Shopify forces you to select a default package, so let’s say I select 4x4x4. The shipping for all of my products will now be calculated based off of those dimensions and will display as such at checkout for the customer to pay. The issue then is that when I go to fulfill the order pay by entering in the actual box size the product needs to go into, let’s say 7x7x7, then the cost of shipping is actually more than what the customer paid due to the increase in dimensions and I end up having to either cover the increased cost or contact the customer to pay the difference. I appreciate your offer to look into my account, but it’s not necessary. I just can’t believe that stores on Shopify are having to operate this way, either coming out of pocket to cover shipping costs or overcharging customers to ship their products. There needs to be a better way to calculate live shipping rates at checkout that takes box dimensions into consideration.

Hi, I just opened my shopify store and got some orders, but first class shipping isn't coming up as an option for me when I go to print the label..it weighs 12oz only media mail and priority etc..

What program are you using to print the label? Are you using Shopify's internal system or are you using a 3rd party app for printing labels. Example: ShippingEasy, Pirateship, etc.

You can either buy a box yourself and package and pay first class shipping based on weight or purchase priority mail which is flat rate, they have the boxes in the post office.

I am still finishing up creating my online store, so this video was helpful, thanks! However, I think I still need a little more clarification. Even though the customer is seeing USPS rates (by Shopify Shipping), can I still print my shipping labels from a different broker such as Pirate Ship if the rates are lower, or do I have to use Shopify Shipping shipping labels? Also, do you know how to add Pirate Ship to reflect those rates in the checkout instead of Shopify Shipping rates?

Very good question. So one thing is what you charge your clients for shipping and another separate thing is how much you, the merchant, pay for shipping out to your clients. Essentially you can earn a small profit by your savings in Shipping.

Thank you so much for the information. I actually am starting a cookie company online and I am trying to figure out how they do the pricing. I see other companies prices and I am trying to figure out how to calculate mine. How do I figure out how much I have to pay, and how much I should charge? I am also confused or just unaware about how to physically send the packages as a business. Do I call USPS? Do I have to set up a business account? Do I just go there with 50 boxes and say "I need to send these"? Thank you so much for the help ! Paul. All of these questions are SPOT ON. When it comes to pricing, I have a special class on this in my academy. Please sign up so you can take advantage upon release. Its very detailed. When it comes to shipping, go to USPS website and determine what box you need and how much does that box cost to ship. Then Grab priority boxes if needed or buy boxes on other retail stores. In order to use the "Use carrier or app to calculate rate", Do I need to purchase the Shopify third-party calculated shipping rates?

By Default you have USPS as a Calculated Rate. But lets say if you want UPS or FEDEX, then yes, you need to pay either an additional $20/month on top of your plan, or prepurchase your active account for the entire year at a discount. Then they include it. But the secret is that they dont tell you this. You need to first do the above, then you need to contact support for them to activate it for you. The dumbest thing i know but thats what you have to do.

@@murshed12 Those are automatically calculated rates on those UPS, DHL and USPS. If you dont use any of these, then you cannot use the calc rate. You need to add them manually.

I primarily use UPS for shipping in Shopify. Yesterday, out of the blue, I started getting an error message stating “The address you’re shipping from could not be verified.” Nothing has changed in my shipping address (location) in my Shopping settings. I can still ship via USPS. Ever heard of this error or a resolution to it? Thanks

Pirate ship is just an app to help you with Shipping. Private supplier means youre not using Dropshipping apps like Aliexpress....Youre instead bulk purchasing from a manufacturer to your warehouse or your office.
