Hello sir This was very useful In my small office they want all employees 8nos want to connect during wfh can u pls help me in guiding in office we have fortigate d60 firewall
Hi thanks for commenting. No it doesn’t work like that. Home wifi (or internet) connection is used by your home modem (router) to connect to the outside world (internet). By setting up a VPN (virtual private network) you can connect to your home network from anywhere in the world securely. This is because the VPN encrypts all the communication between your laptop/pc and your home network. For example you can store all your files in a desktop computer at home and remotely access that computer via VPN from anywhere in the world. For this you need a seperate internet connection for your other device. So basically you cannot use your home wifi connection from anywhere.
I have the same router, but i don't get that TP-Link home page. I get a different one with green and white. And it does not have a section for VPN. Anyone else have this problem?
Are you using a standalone modem or a modem router combo? If latter than using default gateway might open the modem router's gui, instead of your TP link router
Sir We configured dynamic dns no-ip in tiplink router and certificate open vpn but not connecting vpm in client system how to do pls help I am using mr200
@@a2t322 I can do everything once connected to the home network. It just won’t connect when I change the internet connection from something other than the home network.
I am logging into the router through the web browser. After powering up the router connect your laptop to the wifi network using the default SSID and password as mentioned at the back of the router. Then type 192.168.1.1 IP address on your web browser. Type in the default username and password as mentioned at the back of the router. Now you can change all the necessary settings like the passwords and create the VPN.
this may be a silly question, but where is this vpn server? how is it hosted? is it managed by tp link in a different country? does jt have no logs etc? or is it us creating our own server within the router but it is all coming from this router? how are speeds, traffic, logs all managed if this is the case compared to vpn providers like nord, cyberghost and express vpn? really confused as to how the vpn server on tp link works. i have got my head around the vpn client feature but not server.
In the case of Open SSL, VPN server would be the router itself. As i show in the video, i use the open SSl VON client and the public WAN IP to establish a VPN connection
