Do you want to make a customized dress form or mannequin? This is a fantastic way to check fittings with your body double, and it opens up the world of draping!
If you have your customized moulage that you made with the GRD Method, you can refer to this video for the sewing instructions.
If you haven't made your customized moulage yet and would like to, I teach a course showing you step-by-step how to measure and draft your own. The GRD Method is the only method that gives you customized dart depths and shoulder slopes based on your body measurements.
To find out more, there is a free mini-course that opens before the course enrollment: www.ginareneedesigns.com/free...
In the online course, Making a Moulage - the GRD Method, you will not only draft and fit a moulage, but you will also create a sloper from your moulage. The moulage and slopers are used as a solid foundation to create and design the clothes of your dreams.
You can sign up for the waitlist to join the course here: www.ginarenee.com/offers/Fo62...
I hope you love your new dress form!

Wow! You are meticulous. I’ve watched several videos of people sewing dress forms and only one other is even close to this. This looks like a professional piece that can be used for years. I absolutely love it!

I'm so happy to have just heard about you. I have watched and subscribe to a lot of RU-vid channels that focus on men's and women's fashion and sewing/tailoring. Your channel has never come up before. I only found out about you when some sewists mentioned you on Facebook! The quality and fit of your moulage, slopers, customized dress forms look excellent. Plus I like your patterns. Thank you Gina!

Is there a reason why you don’t topstitch (some of) your seams? I’m wondering the whole time how nice that would look.
@GinaRenee
@GinaRenee Год назад
I wanted a clean look without topstitching. You could definitely topstitch your seams though!
@gibraltabago

Can the extra layers in the seam allowances be trimmed off at the stitch line to reduce bulk in the seams?
@GinaRenee
@GinaRenee Год назад
As long as you are happy with how the moulage is measuring compared to your body measurements, then yes, you can cut the seam allowances down to reduce bulk. Do a measurement check to make sure before you cut any seam allowances off. You can even cut some layers shorter than others to create a more tiered effect on the seam allowances and not such a big bulk all cut off at once.

How much money in USD do you estimate you spent on your supplies? I think it would have been a few hundred dollars. You are highly skilled. You come across as so confident doing this.
@GinaRenee
@GinaRenee 11 месяцев назад
I think I spent less than $100 in total for the supplies. It really wasn't so much in my opinion to have something so accurate to help with fitting. Thanks for your nice feedback :)

Could u tell us all the fabrics you use for this dress form please. 😊
@GinaRenee
@GinaRenee Год назад
I go through all the layers around 6-8 min. I recommend a plain weave fabric for the main material. Not a twill or irregular weave. The weight of the main fabric should be something similar to that of a canvas, but plain weave.

How is it when you pin into the finished dress form ?
@GinaRenee

The pinning works just like any other dress form. You're able to pin directly into the form, and the pins stay in place well.

Hi Gina, can you put this on a dress form? And stuff it in areas to form an accurate body outline/shape of your own body. Would it work?

Sorry, one last question. What type of stabiliser did you use?
@GinaRenee

I go through all the layers around 6-8 min into the video. I used a crinoline and double sided fusible. But there are so many options out there that could work! @@nkwocha45

Please make video. ..how to dismantle mannequin... I'm moving and the long stick under the doll is stuck .. and I don't know how to get it out
@GinaRenee
@GinaRenee 6 месяцев назад
Hello, Since I've already finished my mannequin, I can't make any videos on how to dismantle it since mine is completed, and I don't want to backtrack. Can you feel for an area that is overly tight along the pole? Meaning, maybe if there is an area that is too tight, you could take out the stitches in that area only to get the pole out?
@christineryan1934
@christineryan1934 Год назад
How many layers and what layers would you recommend keeping?
@GinaRenee
@GinaRenee Год назад
If I were to redo it, I would try to have around 3 layers. I was really limited with the materials I could find in Switzerland, so I ended up using more than I would have liked. I would say for sure the crinoline layer fused to the outer shell layer and then a batting layer behind the crinoline.
