Thank you wasn’t sure what I was going to do with just 20 strips of jelly roll then I came across your video. Thank you so much.❤

I'm glad to know that this video was helpful to you! For the additional sashing and edges I purchased about 2 metres (yards) of purple fabric. Have fun with your project! I wonder what colors you are using?

Thank you for your tutorial on "Violet" and what a cute name you chose, too! I also really loved the video of the trees and water, and even the rain! Likewise I just retired and am about finished with the business end of tgat and am on my way to get in some sewing time. Congrats on your retirement too and happy sewing and crafting! 🎉

Thank you, Lori! I'm glad you also enjoyed the scenes from my area of British Columbia. Congrats on your retirement! It think sashing can make all the difference to bring out the colours within a project! If you haven't done so already, I encourage you to try a jelly roll quilt. They don't take too long given that most of the fabric is already cut.

Iove this design i definately want to make this design. Jelly rolls are so much fun. I was wondering though if instead of cutting the extra backing, just cut the extra batting and use the backing folded over as binding. Ive done that tech6on several other quilts and it worked great.

I am working on my first big (twin size) quilt for my daughters birthday. She loves purple so this was great inspiration. Do you have any tips for how to make a twin size quilt on a very tight budget?
@craftingwithconfidence8996
@craftingwithconfidence8996 Год назад
Hi, Sarah. Thanks for watching my video! If your budget is tight, then your best bet would be to find a purple-tinted jelly roll on sale at a local fabric store. I always back my quilts in flannel, which is a very inexpensive fabric. For the joining solid color (edging, etc.), you should be able to find a nice solid color on sale as well. Quilt batting comes in different weights and qualities. I find that they often come on sale at about 50% off at different times, so make sure you wait for a deal before purchasing your batting. Good luck with your quilt! I'd love to see a picture when you're done!

Can you please explain because I'm a little bit lost? You said you sewed the 4 strips together. Then each strap you cut 8 and a 1/2 blocks. But you never said. How many blocks you got from each strip? And if you do the math, you can only get four with one 8 inch block left over And you did say about twenty 8 1/2 inch blocks But when you look at the video, it looks like you got. 24 blocks 4 blocks 1 way in 6 other way. I am just a little confused about that I would very much like to make this, but not until you can answer my question. Cause I am a little confused about it. And what is this lap blanket
@craftingwithconfidence8996
@craftingwithconfidence8996 3 месяца назад
Hi there. When I sewed together the strips, I created 5 sets of them. I was able to cut 5 x 8.5" blocks from each strip, as my strips were about 44" long. There was only a tiny skiff leftover from each set. I hope that helps!

I think you have a lot of interesting things to tell us, but if you listen back to your video yourself, I think you will realise that your accompanying music while you’re speaking is not at all helpful, and in places it is actually quite jarring. Maybe, Just to reduce the volume quite a bit may help, but generally speaking, it’s not really at all necessary while addressing us in person! Your quilt looks gorgeous though. Susan x
