I just love this bag, I managed to get a cheap remnant piece of lovely muted blue/grey and brown tartan wool blend, put in a dark blue speckled lining and used darker buckles, it really looks fantastic, it will be fab in the autumn and winter! Confession: I slightly miscut the main bag pieces somehow, I think when cutting the tapered sides, I need my glasses changing haha! So the body ended up a bit narrower and I had to remake the flap smaller because of that but I will use the original wider flap I had already made as a contrasting part to stand out on a plain bag (using this design again but cutting it right haha)! I also made a mistake with the fleece lining as I used a thicker foam one and this ended up being really very bulky to sew through all the layers with the smaller sized bag giving less room for manoeuvre but I got there in the end! However after rectifying the mistakes I made, I have gained valuable experience and learned a lot about bag making from this tutorial, thank you! :)
Lovely bag thank you for your expertise…you may not have read my suggestion on Saturday for a Manx quilt block…..no pattern, no measuring….so would be a perfect introduction into quilting….just a thought….kind regards and stay well ….Yvonne xx
I really like this bag and it looks like it goes together super easy. I'm not real crazy about the tabs on it for the closure what would be your suggestion for another closure that's going to look nice and not make the bag look inferior for lack of better words?
Hi Debbie I cut cut out the lovely bag ,what’s the seam allowance please . I’ve made a good few of your bags and I am going to a craft sale on Saturday.
I am pretty good following instructions but not sure what size the flap should be because when the flap is added to the outer bag fabric the video shows the flap much smaller than the outer bag fabric but mine outer bag is as wide as the flap
That is a lovely bag, very stylish and the fabric is perfect for the autumn and winter months. Please can you say whether the magnetic attachments were hand sewn and if embroidery thread would be suitable to use for that. Thank you.
Like the bag Debbie, hope you are feeling better now. I missed you saturday morning, you may hear from me this saturday morning. If not i wil speak Wednesday.
Meh. Ive made 5 of your bags form your videos and they've been great instructions. However, perhaps add the info as to which way up the main fabric of the bag should go. I ended out with a long bodied bag with a flap that was too wide. One 50yr old piece of tartan fabric wasted.
