You're by far my favorite sewing tutorial person on all of RU-vid. It's hard to find anyone else that's as easy to follow and unintimidating. 💗

Great video again! I would love to see a video about how to choose fabric for a pattern or project. Everything from types to exactly how to go in to Joann fabric and get the right stuff and not feel so lost and confused in there. I love how you explain things so well. Thank you so much for getting so many people started on their sewing journeys!

I love your videos! I started learning 18 months ago and your tutorials are the best by far. It’s the little things like “double pins so you know then to stop”. Absolute gold 😊

Hi Tock, grate video as always, I learn a lot and by watching you I dare to try myself. Say do you think you could do a basic video on the different types of stitches that are usually in the patterns, like easestich, finish stich, gather stich, reinforce stich, slipstich, staystich, understich. How to do each, and what are they used for? Thanks

Awesome work dude! Always glad to see some gender equity! I'd love to see one on work out tanks. There are a ton of patterns, but I don't know where to start. I can't figure out how deep and far back I want armholes for lifting, and that's what I need to decide before picking up a pattern because that's where they all seem to differ. I'm also curious whether linen knit would make it better at absorbing sweat than cotton, since I pretty much soak the bench and every machine I touch.

I had confusion for this video, partly because the fabric was so dark, but mostly because you felt the need to talk over each other some. I have a question: When you sewed that new seam for the alteration, I could no longer see your marks on your machine. How do you sew straight when you can't see the marked lines to use as reference? Could I fold over the edge, toward the needle, so I can see the marks to keep the 1/2" seam straight?
@TockCustom
@TockCustom 8 месяцев назад
Oh, I just kind of guessed where my seam allowance is based on the amount I needed to take it in. Mostly just intuition since I've done some alterations. Sorry I can't be more specific, maybe I just got lucky. I know this wasn't the best video ever, but we had a ton of fun! Thanks for watching

What is a stretch stitch?
@TockCustom
@TockCustom Год назад
Great question, simply put - it's a type of stitch (or seam) that will be able to stretch with a stretchy fabric. There are many different types of stretch stitches, but the most common is a "Zig-Zag" stitch. Using a standard "Straight Stitch" will not stretch at all with the fabric, so it can snap with little force and your projects can fall apart. Hopefully that all makes sense! Thanks for watching :)

Can we get videos for pattern adjustments to fit real women body types? FBA FRA, etc.? the majority of us fit don't the generic pattern sizes. looking forward to them. thanks in advance.
@TockCustom
@TockCustom Год назад
I kind of covered that a little bit in this video. You always take the largest measurment for the size, then tailor the smaller measurements during the fitting process. I suppose I could do more alterations videos for women though, good call :)

For sure, most of my videos are more beginner friendly, but colab shoots are a bit harder to be thorough. Hopefully you can work your way into projects like this soon :)
