You don’t explain where to stop once sewing zipper at the ends. I had an idea where, but for the new sewers step by step helps. I love your tutorials ❤️
I’ve been sewing (or really just playing with this sewing machine lol) for two years and you’ve just made me feel much more confident about trying my first zipper insertion! I’m so glad I found this channel. Your teaching style is easy to follow.
Best tutorial for this I've come across yet as I wanted to see the whole process including the use of the machine (and not everyone shows that bit.) Very informative and simple to follow for a total novice like me..thank you!
This was the first time I wanted to make something using a zipper without a pattern. I had only done a dress before, and had no idea when the right time to add the zipper would be! I learned so much more from this than I expected to. Thank you so much
I’ve been sewing since I was a kid, but never messed with zippers. This tutorial is far superior to any other I’ve found! Can be used to make zippered pouches as well, which I’m excited for. Thank you!!
Love your tutorial and your calm voice explaining in detail (which made it so easy) the zipper part. This was my first time sewing a zipper. Thank you 🙏 I wish I could show you my end result of a cushion cover I made. I love it! I also learnt that I could stitch on the outer and inner side of the zipper foot (for my next project ).
I have been searching all over RU-vid for zipper tutorials because I have been trying to make scrunchies with zippers and your video was the best I have found! Thank you!! It has the same concept for what I needed.
This is the easiest and best tutorial I have seen on how to insert a zipper! I will be trying it in the next few days as I sew a pillow cover for a birthday gift. Thank you so much!
I have watched several videos to make a pillow cover with a zipper and yours is the best and easiest. My home ec teacher (1963-1967) would be amazed. I don't remember zippers were this easy back then. We only made clothing, but crafting is much more fun and not nearly as stressful.
Oh my gosh! I know this is an old video but this is the most genius way for a novice to do a zipper. My confidence just shot through the roof. Doh! BASTE IT. 😂
Want to add my thanks -- a great tutorial. Instructive. Demonstrative. Clear. Complete. And you have a lovely calm manner. I have now made 5 pillowcases with this. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Hey Jann! I just love your videos. You explain a complicated process very simply, and you break it down so it's easy to follow. I am making a dog bed with a washable cover using this video (I was going to throw away my son's old egg-crate mattress topper but our dog claimed it). Also, I was thrilled to finally see a RU-vid sewing tutorial person using the same machine I have...and not some $$$$ machine I can't afford. You are a lovely person. Thank you for teaching us!
You just made me feel like I can do all those pillows I've been longing to make, only that attaching the zipper is so intimidating for me. Thank you so much!
very easy to follow and clearly explained, this is a huge help. even if someone has no experience sewing you explained it well enough for a beginner but not so much that it's frustrating for someone more experienced
Wonderful video! Last summer I brought home a little pillow project for camp. Now I have 2 weeks before I go back. This won't be difficult at all. YAY!
Thanks for explaining each step so carefully. I made a case today and made a couple of minor errors that I was able to correct. Can’t wait to make some new cases for all my pillows!
This video was perfect. I tried 2 others before coming across your tutorial and I am thrilled about how my pillow came out. I just started sewing and plan on watching all your videos. Thanks!
I just completed 2 pillow covers to match the furniture. I’m still a novice learning how to use my sewing machine. This was an awesome video! Very easy to follow!
Thank you so much for this. Your instructions were extremely easy to follow. I especially appreciated the info on the zipper foot. My pillows look amazing!
Thank you very much for teaching new techniques, while motivating me to start again sewing home decor accessories. Your detailed instructions and suggestions for tools for cutting and sewing are the best.
Nicely done video, very clear instructions and clear videotaping, that’s not always easy and it’s much appreciated! I just needed a refresher for adding a zipper. My husband has a channel, it’s a lot of work.
Just saw this video. Love the simple, direct and easy instruction. I also love the idea of closing the seam before sewing the zipper. Looking foward to doing this and to seeing more of your videos, thank you Mrs Jann.
Thank you for a very imformstive and beautifully skilled sewing process. Ive never sew a zipper and you made it so easy for a begiinner like me. Im not afraid anymore for tackling it head on....Much love all the way from South Africa Western Cape.
Thank you! That was an excellent tutorial! You explained each and every step perfectly. Now I’m ready to sew my zippered pillow covers with confidence. 🌺
Great tutorial! The visuals and verbal directions were easy to understand. I’m going to be sewing a zippered cover for a body pillow as a Christmas gift. Wish me luck!
That's the best pillow tutorial that I've watched so far. It's so easier to understand when you are explaining it! That's going to be my first sewing project and I am so excited! Thank you so much! :D
This is a great tutorial! I absolutely love that you are so detailed and you SAY everything you're doing. It makes it so much easier to follow along. Keep doing what you're doing because it's really working. I appreciate that I don't have to read text over the video. And giving tips on what to avoid and why is so helpful! You are amazing. Thank you for all you share.
Thank you for sharing this video. I sew as well. So I can confirm that is beautifully done. Blessings Viewing from the French island St Martin in the Caribbean.
Oh my goodness! This was exactly the video I needed, I was soooo scared to even attempt a zipper, I've been hand sewing my pillows closed because I'm self taught and could never get sewing it closed on the machine to look good. I watched you and now I feel like I can do a zipper, this is a game changer for me. Thanks so much.
You're great in what you are doing. The universe will reward you for propagating so much creativity into the world. But for now...back to my first zipper. :-)
This was exceptionally clear and helpful! I was working with a faux fur fabric...I wonder if anyone else that has done so had difficulty moving the zipper pull as instructed? I am sure I'd've been able to manage with fabric with a shorter pile. Any suggestions welcome!
Thank you Jann! What a great tutorial. I think I am finally ready to sew my first zipper. One question: it wasn’t quite clear to me exactly where you are sewing the zipper. Do you have the foot sewing right down the middle of the zipper or on one edge? I want to be sure before I get started. Thank you! Love your calm way of instructing.
I started sewing again a few months ago inspired by the Great British Sewing Bee. I got a Simplicity quilt cushion cover/quilt pattern that is easy enough. Rather than slip stitching the cushion shut as directed, I wanted to put a zipper in so the cover could be washed. So far I've done two zippers, and both times I've completed the sewing around the edges only to find the zipper jammed shut so I've had to unpick everything to free it... I still can't work out why it jams. Maybe I shouldn't fully close it next time so I literally have some wiggle room. Aside from that issue, your video was fantastic -- I just wish I had the confidence to sew it straight on without having to pin it first. Straight lines are never as straight as they might first appear! Hopefully the third time's the charm.
