With the cost of living rising, stay warm this winter with Corinne Bradd’s budget-friendly DIY hand warmers. Made from cotton fabric and filled with rice, these easy-to-make warmers can be microwaved for pennies and will keep you toasty for hours on end - paired with our matching stitched wrist warmers ( • Stitched Wrist Warmers... ), you’ll be snug all winter long!
The perfect stashbuster, you can craft these homemade hand warmers with any cotton scraps you have on hand. Opt for coordinating fabrics or mix and match patterns for maximum impact - just be sure to avoid synthetic fabrics and anything with metallic fibres, as they can melt/spark in the microwave.
Not only are these hand warmers a cost-effective solution for cold hands, but they also make great homemade gifts. Why not whip up some matching ones to give to friends and family?

Wow great idea. Thanks for all the tips. I have made circle & heart shape hand warmers using flaxseeds. But I sewed 2 pcs wrong sides together half inch seam. left a little opening for the flaxseeds then finished closing it up. Then used my pinking shears and went all the way around the shape. They came out cute and just a little different look. Nothing to turn inside out. Just a different way to make these. I love your shape & idea of having this fit in your hand. I’m going to try this shape next. 😊

A little trick I learnt for helping you to thread a needle, is put a piece of white paper like a little hexagon , then put the eye of the needle in front of it, it works a treat. I find it really helps me. Xx like your hand washers.

Yes, a lot of the time I try and thread in poor light, you'd think I'd know better by now 😄c x

The link is in the description but the website is currently undergoing maintenance. The shape is a simple egg, about 10cm tall by 7cm wide, and with a concave 'dent' in the side of it! c x

Sorry, I can't currently log in either but it's a simple egg shape with a concave bit at the side. It's no bigger than 7cm wide and 10cm tall if this helps, c x
