The best 12 minutes of my time. Direct and easy to follow. Been looking around for an invisible zip Tutorial and they all have been a sore to watch - but THIS one is it!!!!!!!
*Thank You, my stress levels have just dropped considerably. Wow, thank you. I'm off to insert the invisible zipper.... & thanks for confirming that you can't always use an invisible zip. This helped as well. xoxo
Omg - I love you ! As you said for some zips are a nemesis - that was me . So glad I found this - with you holding my Hans I bought new zipper foot and voila - best zip ever and no unpicking ! 😍😍😍😍
I did it! Woo hoo. Left side went in perfectly. Right side took 2 tries to get the cross seams to match up. I hadn't done an invisible zipper for probably 20 years when they had those plastic feet that you could buy for your machine. My Janome came with the foot that you showed - YAY for a well done video!
All of us in the sewing community wish you were by our side every time we sewed, not just for your expertise, but because you're our favorite virtual girlfriends! This really is a great tutorial!
Great tutorial! I am particularly grateful for the tip on how to fix the gap at the bottom of the zip. I’ve done this by hand before but this way is much neater
I am so glad I found this tutorial...it is the best one I've seen to help me with my dilemma with the invisible zipper. I see that I need to get that foot also. Thank you, ladies.
Crikey - this is one of the BEST "how to put a zipper in" videos that I have ever watched ..... thank you !!!!!!!! I might even have a go myself now and stop avoiding all things zippered - hoorah
I have been so avoiding zips! Thank you for this tutorial. I might have to pick up some cheap zips from the market and practise on scraps before I try this on a dress.
stitch sisters i am so glad you have a demonstration about how to sew in an invisable zip this is so useful. I always watch it time and time every time i am putting in an invisable zip. Thank you so much sewing Queens happy sewing always xx
Wow! Thank you! I feel like an idiot. I just finished a dress that took me four hours one day and three the next to get that invisible zip in!! I was doing it wrong! I subscribed! Can you talk about adjusting patterns to fit? How to down size and up size in various area's. Thanks again.
Brilliant tutorial ladies, I shall be referring to this each time I need to insert an invisible zip as they make me nervous!! I have real trouble finishing necklines whether they be faced or bias bound, they never sit flat even if I steam them or understitch grrr!! I had one success but that was because I lined the dress but I don't want to do that all of the time. Thank you Rachel and Nicky, I love your channel keep 'em coming!! x
I would like quick sewing tips and how to hem your my garments without a dress form. Very nice tutorial for the invisible zipper! Very clear and detailed instructions, thank you.
Fantastic Vlog ladies, thank you so much, it was wonderfully informative and easy to follow. I think you've just taken my nerves away with invisible zips - YAY You little miracle workers!!!!!
Thanks ladies, zips are still hit and miss with me but will use this video next time 👍. Love the thumb nail - I'm pretty sure that's what I look like when I try to get an invisible zip into a garment 😂😂
I can't begin to tell you how many invisible zipper videos I viewed over the past few days.....made me too nervous to try.....until I saw yours.... I'm pretty confident that I can do this. Thank you so much. One question: did you use a regular foot to finish sewing up the seam after you finished the zip? I saw you used the zipper foot....just want to be sure and again, thank you
This is a great video as you point out so many potential problems and the filming is nice and close. When I learned about invisible zippers, I was taught to press the zipper teeth 'up' before inserting (that is, unzip and use the point of the iron to press the teeth away from the edge of the tape; doing so keeps the teeth upright in the presser foot channel). Hope that helps.
I have volunteered to make flower girl dresses for our daughter in September. I think I'll have you on my iPad next to the machine! Have bought a zip to practice on before I hit the silk......gosh, this is stressful!!!
how timely, you must have seen my IG post - hahahahah! I just did an invisible zip the other day but it wasn't so "invisible". I love the idea of marking the seam line to mark how to lay the zip. I will give that a try next time. Great video ladies.
It looks like there is exposed fabric between the zipper and the cut side. I want to do this but wonder if I should do something. Newbie here. Just seeing your channel. Love it.
Hi ladies! Excellent tutorial! I love putting in invisible zippers, but your tutorial makes it look even easier, which I didn't think was possible, thank you!
Thanks for this ladies. I've saved it off to a new Zip playlist and will be using this every time I need to sew a zip. I do shy away from them! You're nails look great in the video Rachel and I love you're cheers of encouragement Nikki when Rachel finished it! Just fab. Thanks as always for sharing, really helpful. xx
This little series is sooo helpful!! I’ve done a few invisible zips and always have a nightmare - I’ve actually started to prefer making buttonholes!! 😂 I think I just need to get those feet and practise a bit more. Thanks for your fab videos! ♥️
Brilliant ladies 👍. I have that zipper foot and did my first invisible zip with it the other day when making a Betty dress for my niece and it worked perfectly..... fantastic foot and definitely worth buying everyone 👌. Such clear filming and instructions, thanks again for a fantastic video Rachel and Nicki 👍💞😘
Thank you so much for the tutorial. I am just about to insert an invisible zip in a dress I am making. I have used them a couple of times before but your video has given me more confidence. I am learning lots of sewing tips from you two. X
II’d really like to be able to do facings for lap and center zippers (stronger, don’t gap and appropriate for vintage patterns) that are as easy and look as good as this invisible zipper facing method. Have you done a facing tutorial for those zipper types? This is the best zipper with facing video I’ve seen!
I’ve been looking for a video like this to show how to close the bottom of the dress after the zipper has been sewed in. And you nailed it down. Thank you sisters!! One question, when you switch to zipper foot to close the small hole what did you do with the needle? I saw you move it to the right? I don’t get that. Please advice
Such a great tutorial thank you both! For the excellent sewing AND filming I meant ;) Please can you tell me how you dealt with the excess zip at the bottom? Maybe this one wasn’t much too long, but it’d be great to know in case I needed to use a longer zip. I’d also love a tutorial for full bust adjustments please. I really enjoy watching you both, sorry I don’t comment more often... Jo xx
