Loop turners are a great option but I recently found tube turners at my local fabric store. They are sold in packs of 3 or 4 tubes and each tube is a different width...narrow to wide. You push the tube up into the inside of the strap until it sticks out of the other end. Then push the fabric back thru the inside of the tube. Easy peasy and works great!

Stitch the thread at one end when it's through the length of the Rouleau, ready to pull and turn and then that end is hemmed!

Works better if you just use a safety pin instead of the complex gathering thing at the end with the needle

I cut mine on the bias but I actually wanted to use it for a little corset-esque lacing detail on the back of a dress - would it be better if I didn’t do this on the bias? Because I want it to be firm, not stretching so it pulls me in a little

Does the bias cutting apply to stretch fabrics as well?
@ProfessorPincushion
@ProfessorPincushion 9 лет назад
***** you don't need to do it on the bias if it's already stretchy :)

could you say why you cut the fabric at a bias ?
@ProfessorPincushion
@ProfessorPincushion 8 лет назад
by cutting it on the bias, the fabric, even non-stretchy fabric, will have a little bit of stretch to it.

If you don't have sealant, is there another way to finish off the edge? Thanks :)
@ProfessorPincushion
@ProfessorPincushion 7 лет назад
You can stitch the end. It may still fray a little but the fraying shouldn't go past the stitching

probably a silly question, but at the end are you gathering the material? What exactly is happening?
@ProfessorPincushion
@ProfessorPincushion 10 лет назад
goodomens not silly at all. I'm pulling it so the end will eventually go to the inside and turn itself right side out
@dafunk666

At the end, when you were pulling the string? x

Do you have to do it on the bias?
@ProfessorPincushion
@ProfessorPincushion 5 лет назад
no, but it does give it a bit of stretch if it's cut on the bias.

Plz don't cut your fabric like this 😓 You will have so much wastage, so stupid! Please fold it in half, corner to corner not diagonally!

I admire these videos and the instructor but her use of “gonna” in place of “ going to” irritates me. It takes away from the professionalism of an otherwise excellent tutorial.
