Milkmaid top/dress you can ACTUALLY make even if you’re new to sewing! Simplified milkmaid top sewing tutorial that can be easily modified to make a milkmaid dress. I designed this top so it’s super easy to draft and sew even for a beginner sewist. Also, this top checks all the boxes for my personal requirements for a top: it covers my bra straps, it’s easy to wear (no zippers or buttons), it’s fairly modest and can be worn in front of my parents.
Material used:
Cotton seersucker fabric 45”wide x 2 yards
1/4” elastic: 3 and 1/4 yards
My measurements for reference:
Bust: 36”
Waist: 29”
*This top will fit up to 40” bust comfortably when made in non-stretch woven fabric. It also looks cute on my 8-year-old daughter when neckline elastic is tightened enough.
