These videos on fabric types are so incredibly helpful! These should be a series on your channel. Would love one on plant based fibers like viscose, tencel. I’m still trying to learn how to identify the right fabric for my project. Pattern fabric recommendations are helpful, but identifying if the fabric I’ve found will have the right about of drape, structure, etc is still elusive to me at times!
I enjoyed your presentation and appreciated your sewing & cutting tips! Having not worked with alot of stretchy fabrics, the tip to use a walking foot would be one I would strongly recommend. It was a game changer for me as sewing knits was very frustrating until I used the walking foot. Also using stabilizers as you mentioned for the shoulder seams. And of course if putting in a zipper, some iron-on interfacing on each side of the opening will keep the seam from stretching out also. Thank you and I see you have other videos dealing with other fabrics that I look forward to viewing.
Finding good fabric is difficult. I only have Joanne and Hobby Lobby. I’m reluctant to buy online because I can’t handle the fabric or be sure of the color.
There is a great explanation along with visuals on the Schmetz site: www.schmetzneedles.com/blogs/blog/what-are-the-differences-between-stretch-and-jersey-needles?srsltid=AfmBOopc1aBn6QIjOIbpS9FbeyDm0XxthzpjYSr-4gzNk331C8ldLpKP
