yo ive been here since the reason videos and never got myself into ableton really i stuck to reason and i still loooove your videos man this is pure genius
The devices aren't dropping because your cursor is slightly over the Max4Live device. I think Live assumes it's another Max4Live device, and tries replacing it. It's been like that forever.
Right, it is 10:17am here, and I have already shit myself. I turned my Yamaha HS7 + HS8S Speaker and Sub system up to a catastrophically high level - the volume knob on my Tascam US2x2 audio interface was at about 4'o'clock, and there was a worrying hiss coming from the speakers. I then loaded Operator and hit D0 on my Midiman Keystation49 Mk3 keyboard. I don't know what happened after that, but I have just regained consciousness, to find myself laying on the carpeted floor of the quite obviously undersized for the speaker system I have housed in it, box room that I call my "lab", with my pants all smeared in poo. I am going to have a shower, throw my pants in the bin, and get on with the rest of the tutorial. Will report back with further results later. Thanks, Ned.
@Ned Rush - Crackin' tutty business as always, mate! I have one question.... When you apply the Glitch 2 looper effect, you end up with a steppy 3 beat rhythm to the loop rather than a straight 4/4 even though visually the plug-in settings suggest the G2 sequencer is running at 4/4 and the effect 'transition' is set to 4 beats.... Is there something more to the settings that I'm not seeing as I'm trying to emulate this with an alternative looper device and the 1 bar loops I'm getting are a comparatively boring rigid 4/4. Any suggestions much appreciated! \m/
Just dug into the G2 manual: "Dotted Timing - In dotted mode, the time is quantized to powers of two as with even timing, but the duration is extended to 3/2nds of its even counterpart." I guess that's my answer. As someone that already owns Effectrix (and a couple of more basic plug-ins of the same style) that the 'Dotted Timing' is one of the few features exclusive to Glitch 2 is very frustrating it's a nicely musical effect..... Tempted to purchase, but ngggghhhh........ Dollar Dollar bill y'all.
I'm using a Bose Soundlink II right now, and I assumed that since I could feel decent vibrations and a punchy kick, the sub bass was going. I play 1:58 and I hear this guy say "Yup, there it is." after a few seconds of SILENCE.
interesting, but wont it be easier/quicker to set 2 different bass synths, and cross-modulate their volume on external lfo for that cross-fade wobbling? or such sort of thing could be done only in bitwig, not in ableton?
I orded a scratched 4000 max power Pyle 8 Chanel ,, not in a row of flats here , building a max amp with old speakers, already went threw the noise ordinance hoop jump years ago , so max volume my side job , best way to handle 8 channels in max to individual speakers out mc. mix down 8 ?
i get the resampling and slice to bar method but why not just record in loop mode with track lanes set to one bar? too new? you’re dropping em into sampler so i guess you’d lose envelope control and midi if they were track lanes. but track lanes let you play with comping. idk. apples and oranges maybe. i’m actually playing with a similar idea but using pedals instead of vst plugs… i’ll try both methods p.s: wavetable idea is brilliant
Hey Ned, would you still suggest throwing an EQ to roll off the low end after approx 32 Hz? Actually, it would be good to see what EQ you put on your master chain.
I find I have the same issue when trying to drop effects next to a Max For Live device, or dropping a Max For Live device I THINK at the end of a group? Maybe? I'm not sure but I've had that same issue a million times and find myself just cutting and pasting the effect into the proper spot to get around it.
