You definitely should not do this on a new wig. It's okay to do it on an older wig but Downey will leave a buildup in the hair so after a few times it will make the wig look dirty and greasy. In the beginning we highly suggest sticking to wig products only.

Yes, you spray the synthetic conditioning spray with the wig upside down and sprays the base. This is only to be done with the Jon Renau synthetic conditioning spray. If you are using any other conditioner we can't give advice as we only like to use the Jon Renau products because they work so much better. NEVER spray the detangler at the base. Only the conditioning spray. Also, when washing human hair this does not apply. The rule of spraying the conditioner at the base is only for synthetic fiber.

Hi Carol! Friction from the hair rubbing against clothes and skin causes synthetic fiber to frizz. This means it's going to happen at the nape since this area constantly rubs the skin. Also, longer wigs will do this at the bottom. Unfortunately, we can't keep it from happening but the best thing to do is to spray the wig with Jon Renau HD Smooth Detangler each time you take the wig off. Spray both the top and underside. Once it gets pretty bad you can also add steam. A handheld steamer is a synthetic wigs best friend. We suggest spraying with Jon Renau's HD Smooth Detangler and then comb it out. Do this each day when you take it off for the day.

You definitely do not want to do this. Synthetic hair is a fiber so it's more like a fabric than hair. Using human hair shampoo on it is like washing your cashmere sweater in shampoo. You only need to wash your synthetic wigs with synthetic shampoo and synthetic conditioner. This will keep them looking there best for a longer time.
