I watched so many "Using Keynote on Zoom," and found nothing that really helped my jagged video playback. That is until I found your video. You did an amazing job! I will say though, that you do have to small up the screen selection a bit to get better animated smoothness. But not too small, because then it pixelates the screen that you're sharing. But again GREAT VIDEO - THANKS!

I share screen for my laptop that has 4k display in my zoom meeting, and the video output according to all participants is choppy (it seems like slideshow pictures) but the sound quality is good. I already check the optimize video before sharing screen but the same output (choppy) but it has lower resolution of the shared video. Most of the time i am the one who shared videos in our zoom meeting, so i can not use my laptop that has 4k display because whenever i shared a video the video output is choppy in all participants. I bring back my old laptop that has only 720p resolution display and the sharing screen is so smooth no stutter, no choppy no lag, just like they are watching the real video im sharing. thats the feedback of all the participants. so if you have a higher resolution display like 4k i think zoom is not optimize with that resolution when sharing screen. 720p display resolution is so good when sharing screen.

A thumbs down for three reasons. First: You claim that participants get a smoother video when the video is played in full screen. NO! DO NOT SHARE IN FULL SCREEN. That guarantees that you and the participants need the highest possible bandwidth to prevent a jerky video with the audio often not in sync. ALWAYS play the video sized to less than half of the display. I have experimented with this way too many times to know this is true. Second reason: NEVER PLAY A VIDEO DIRECTLY FROM THE INTERNET. First, you have to depend on it being downloaded smoothly to your computer, then uploaded smoothly to the participants. Second, you don't want to have to mess around with pop-up messages and ads. So always download the video to your computer and trim it to include just what you want to show, then play it with an appropriate video player (4KVideoDownloader works on all platforms, and it is free). Third reason: Zoom now has a Video option in the Advanced section, so use it instead of a video player. Zoom lets you select the video that is on your computer (not from the Internet) and then sets the size of the video window to something smaller than full screen (yes, even they know it is best), so keep it that way - or even smaller. The size on your display doesn't matter since it always fills the Zoom window of the participants.

Brilliant - and most helpful video I have seen on the subject. One quick question though - would you recommend having the video uploaded to RU-vid or Vimeo first (as they might be optimized for web playback?) or play from your hard drive (so the playback itself is not dependent on bandwidth?) if you have a choice? Grateful to know about any thoughts or experience on that.

When we click Optimize video, PC users display ugly grey boxes. Even on a Mac, clicking that option doesnt seem to help at all.

My problem with zoom is I got a new computer installed zoom when I share the RU-vid song it won't play the music just the words and they are shaky. When I opened zoom for the first time something popped up it was either antivirus or security I said yes. Don't know if that caused it. As long as I was on zoom it did it as soon as I got off they played correctly. Any idea how to fix this?

Intuitively, I thought it would be better to play a downloaded video off the hard drive rather than off RU-vid so the computer is not downloading the video and uploading to zoom at the same time. Does this not effect the internet reliability?

So so helpful, thank you! Had one question-I was trying to share a streaming app with a friend (a Broadway one) and the picture played on my end, but kept bumping her off. Does that happen to other people? Wanted to do a movie night with friends…I pay for Zoom pro and the app, but wanted to watch with others. Also-people complain about the “rectangles” when I share pictures. When I turn off the “optimize video” on Zoom, they go away.

Whenever I tried to play video from the desktop and clicked the optimisation box, the quality of the video was so low it really looked terrible. In addition, a weird black bar always appears at the top of the video and it's impossible to get rid of it, any tips?? thanks

How have I missed that check box for so long? So many choppy videos I've shared! Maybe I tried it but didn't go fullscreen. Kinda dumb it's not on by default and they don't tell you about the fullscreen thing, but at least I know now.

Sorry, but doesn't using an outside service like RU-vid or Google Drive SLOW THINGS DOWN EVEN MORE???? I mean the video is stored on a third party services, it has to be streamed FIRST to YOUR computer over YOUR "bad" internet connection, and then sent out to the Zoom server. You're adding an extra step of bandwidth because you're streaming down and up over YOUR bad internet connection rather than just up! Or is there some magic going on here that instead of getting the A/V data from your computer it is being delivered by RU-vid/Google to Zoom?

Pros and cons of playing from RU-vid and Google drive vs from your own desktop: Cons: Playing from RU-vid will run the risk/annoyance of having Ads interruptions; playing from Google drive requires compromising your Google drive info to Zoom. These are the tradeoffs with faster video playback. Just my two cents.

we have clients that have password only video content that they want to share and it has to come from their own weblink and the clips are HD. I hear zoom has a 'lag' of 135 milliseconds and wondered if you know of any proprietary services they could use?

Is there an integrated player or way to play all the videos, back to back, as live without having to see the controls from each video? Hello Thank you for the great video. Apologies however, I had a quick question about the share from G-drive. I've recently updated my zoom windows program to the newest version, however I can't locate a 'file' for the share screen. Did I miss an option to enable that?

no matter which method I use (VLC, Windows Media player or Quicktime player in Windows 10) my video and audio are slightly out of sync. When there is someone speaking on camera is is noticeable. The workaround seems to be using Dropbox to share videos. I also tried sharing my web browser with a RU-vid video in full screen with same negative result.

is there a way to smooth the play back when watching with a group on zoom when the playback source is vimeo?

I have a VERY and I mean VERY low end pc I mean it barely handles mc But coming back to zoom I use my phone as a webcam and because I have a VERY low end pc it can't do multi tasking or ope multiple tabs and just zoom it's self, GETS MY PROCESSOR TO 100% usage!
