WILL PROBABLY NOT WORK WITH NINTENDO DS AND WII. There are exceptions, but dont ask me why some work and some dont.
I have promissed this Tutorial for some time now, so here it is. For all the Newcomers and I would suggest to watch the Windows XP Version also since it contains way more information for starters.
Windows XP tutorial: • How to: Share your int...
Important: DONT SKIP THE IP CONFIGURATIONS SINCE WINDOWS IS TO STUPID TO DO IT PROPERLY AUTOMATICALY! (SAME GOES FOR MOST DEVICES)
Important parts:
Ip configuration of the computers:
Comp1:
IP: 192.168.0.1 (means that the computer is first in the network and in charge)
Subnetmask: Appears automaticly and has to be same on both comps
!THE OTHER FIELDS LEAVE BLANK!
Comp2:
IP: 192.168.0.2 (means that this Computer is secound in network)
Subnetmask: Got to be the same as on Comp1
Standardgateway: 192.168.0.1 ( Tells the computer to connect to the internet throug Comp1 IP)
DNS Server: The DNS Server is the adress server of your Internetprovider.
To get the DNS Server you got to connect with the Intenet on Comp1. Then go Start - All Programm - Accesoirs- Command Prompt
In the black window that appears you enter: ipconfig /all
That gives you all the current network configurations including the ones of your internet connection.Search there for the DNS Server adresses (It should be 2, but 1 should also work)
!!!DONT FORGET TO OPEN UP THE IP´S IN YOUR FIREWALL SETTINGS!!!!!
(If you dont know how, look in the manual)

@WhimVlogs Just 1 DNS Slot is fine, the secound one is just in case that the first fails. At "router" you need to enter your Computers IP, so the Ipod knows where to search. And at "IP Adress" you have to give the Ipod its own IP, also the "subnet mask" should be the same as on your computer. I know I explained it a bit chaotic, but I hope you understood.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 11 лет назад
No, but this was the easiest way to explain the basics on how to do this. You can use these Informations in many Ways. For Example my Android Phone cannot connect directly to my Computers Wifi, so I put these configurations into my phone and connect to my Wireless router instead which then lets me access the Internet of my main Computer that is also connected to the router. I am giving you what you need to get a Internet connection between devices working, the rest is up to your imagination.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 11 лет назад
I am actually using my own Prepaid usb Broadband connection in this example. Its not different then any other situation, you just need to be able to identify which connection has the Internet you want to share.
@maximumrisk2004

Thats a hard one, there is no way for me to say why Windows gives this error. However there is a way around it if you want to try. When you watch the Video you see how I configure the Network cards. When selecting the Wireless card there is a additional Tab that says "Networks" or something like that. There is a list where you can manually add your new Network. You just need to make sure to look for the "make Ad-Hoc" box in the Window when creating the Network that it is checked. Very important.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 11 лет назад
If you cannot find them maybe you put in the -all wrong into the command prompt. That is important for the DNS servers to be shown. Also you need to be sure to put in "ipconfig -all" into the Computer that has the internet. Also make sure your Internet connection is working at that time.
@maximumrisk2004

@Thecoolnitro 192.168.0.1 is the one of the Computer with the Internet and if neccessary you may need to configure your PSP with 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.1 as Gateway. Some wrote that simply putting up the Internet Computer was enough for the PSP, but usually other Computers need those Infos in order to find the Internet connection.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 11 лет назад
Also, there is the possibility that you have a Wirelesscard that has its own Software for connecting to the Network and thats why Windows gives you the Error, since it has no Permission. In that case you have 2 additional options. Either trying to find the "Ad-Hoc" option in that Wificard Software or when you select the Network Tab in the Windows Configuration you can select to have Windows in charge by simply checking the Top box. Hope I could be of help.
@maximumrisk2004

Normally the configurations should be safed for the next time when you boot up your Computer. In Case of a USB Modem the connection gets sometimes deleted when you unplug the Modem. In that Case you can go to the Network configurations while you are connected to the Internet and from there you should be able to Copy your Internet-connection and the Copy wont dissapear if you take out the USB Modem.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 13 лет назад
@chetan3125 The Gateway adress for your Android is the IP of your Computer which you should set to 192.168.0.1 for the Wifi card. After that you need to put the DNS Server adresses into your Android also. That should actually be all you need.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 12 лет назад
Just make sure not to get confused with the IPs. Every device needs its own, so the Computer that has Internet is 192.168.0.1 and your Laptop then would be 192.168.0.2 and the PS3 192.168.0.3. The Gateway IP doesnt change though, so when setting the Gateway on the PS3 it will still be 192.168.0.1. I hope that wasnt all to confusing.
@maximumrisk2004

Google is usually your best friend in these Cases. With Home it probably means the Homegroup which is used more in Windows 7. I cant really say why your Windows gives you that message. It should have nothing to do with creating a Adhoc network. If anything the first time something like that should pop up is when you connect for the first time.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 12 лет назад
Thats a problem. There are some solutions to make a hybrid connection. Meaning you plug in the Network cable from your Computer in the corresponding Box and then send it through your Homes electric system or wireless to the room where your PS3 is and then connect another cable from there to your PS3. I know this is not a easy solution, but its the best I can recommend you.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 12 лет назад
It could be that you have a Software installed with your Wlan card/stick. There are some that lock out Windows in favor of their own software. That Software usually is still able to create a ad-hoc network. Though when you click on the Network Connections where it shows your Wlan card, you can change that by going into the properties of your Wlan card and on the "Network" Tab select that Windows is supposed to handle the Networks. In the same Tab you can create a Network, but its not as user fr.

It does work with some Versions of the PSP. I do not own one, so I have no idea what is needed to make it work. I just got comments from People with a PSP and for some it worked, others it didnt.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 12 лет назад
That is actually normal. With Ad-Hoc Windows got enough on its hand as it is, if it connects and a signal gets through thats all that matters. You can always check if a connection works by putting into the command prompt in accessories "ping 192.168.0.2" That checks that IP if data gets through. If packages get lost its bad.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 12 лет назад
If you are up for it I got a Idea what you can do. I did it many of times. If you got a Laptop you can use that as a Bridge of some sort. Connect the Laptop to the Wlan and then connect the PS3 to the Laptop and configure the Laptop to share internet too, just with the cable connection instead of the Wlan like I showed on Computer 1 in this Video.

For one make sure your Computer is actually sending the Network, by checking with another laptop for example. It could be that your Phone does not support Ad-hoc, but in that case try with Connectify.me . It usually helps to get stuff like that working. As I commented before I use this method to share my Internet to my Wifi router, where my Cellphone can connect.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 11 лет назад
There are two things this can mean. Either your Computer does not have a Wireless card installed or you have software to that card installed that is taking away the control from Windows. In other words if you have a software installed with which you use your Wireless card, then you might have to find the configurations in there.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 12 лет назад
Its not a stupid question at all. It is important to activate "internet sharing" on the connection that corresponds with the internet Dongle. If I am not wrong that would be the Wireless Connection2 for you. The Network configurations though you need to do on the Network Card Adapter(Wireless Network Connection). I prefer setting the IP manually, because thats the only way you can input the DNS Server. In my experience Windows is to stupid to find them on its own.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 12 лет назад
Consider your PS3 a Windows PC that needs everything to be set just right and you cant let it do anything alone but connecting once you are done making both systems fit.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 11 лет назад
Its hard to say why it cuts off. I have never seen Green Signal Bars when I used Ad-hoc so that is completly normal. It appears to be to much for Windows to calculate the Signal Quality when it is on its own. It could be because of distance, but the only way you will now for sure is moving you xbox a bit closer and see if it doesnt disconnect anymore. Also, you can open the "Command Prompt" in Start-All Programms-Accecories-Command Prompt and the simply put in "ping IPofyourXBOX -t".......
@maximumrisk2004

@xoOKox If I am not mistaken your Internetprovider has already changed to IPv6. IPv4 was only numbers and this one has more digits and also includes letters. I need to research this more to be of proper help, but theoretically you can put your IPv6 DNS Server in the Configurations for the IPv6 Protocoll and leave the other fields blank. Then enter the IPv4 that I am using in this video in the other configurations Protocoll. I am off to my Birthday, so good luck man.

The wificard can only connect once at a time. So you will have to get a second Wifi USB Adapter or bite into the lemon and connect the other Laptops through Cable.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 12 лет назад
You can try connecting it through cable if it is the Ad-hoc connection that makes trouble.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 12 лет назад
Different OS are no problem. It sounds like you made a mistake with entering the DNS server on the secound comp, or it could be the Internet Sharing Option on the Main Computer.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 13 лет назад
@izfliiboyiz1012 Computer 1 is that one that has Internet and is supposed to share it and Computer 2 is the Device you want to connect to that Internet, in your case the PS3. I call it Computer because thats the Device I explain it on.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 12 лет назад
Vice versa means, the other way around. You can give the Computers whatever numbers you want, but you need to remember which is which and also be sure that no other device uses the same number. Thats why I explain the IP´s the way I do. The 192.168.0. region is mostly reserved for Networks, so there are no complications.

Are you sure you wrote "ipconfig -all" into the command prompt? The list it gives you is normally pretty long in comparrison to what you get when only write "ipconfig". Also make sure the Computer you are doing this on is the Computer that is connected to the internet, not the one that you want to connect.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 12 лет назад
@TakotAntanka Check again, there may be other DNS numbers on that list besides that weird one. At least there should, if not it could be your Firewall that takes over that Server. Depending on the Software you are using you can find out the DNS Server adress in it. I had a Zone Alarm Firewall that always had the DNS Server listed on the opened ports list.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 11 лет назад
If you dont have that it means that you have a Home or Basic version of Windows. Those have the Task removed. You can use Connectify.me. It can bypass that.
@maximumrisk2004

@MrDeathbreaker You need to be connected to the Internet in order to get the DNS Server from your Internetprovider. I have never seen a Internet connection that didnt list those servers.

It depends on your Wi-fi card. On some cards this works with Android and with others not. If the later is the case, there are ways around it. For example if you have a Wireless Router lying around, you can let your Computer connect to that and then connect your Android to it as well. You just have to put in the Numbers I showed in this Video into both devices, so that they find each other and can connect properly.

@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 12 лет назад
You understood me wrong. For example the PS2 got different Chips and parts built into it depending on region, date of release and model. That can affect compatibility with homebrew software and the media it reads. So I guess the same thing goes for the PSP. It may look the same, but inside it probably is not.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 12 лет назад
@AnzourBakej That should work without a problem. You have to try.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 11 лет назад
I did some of the earlier Versions of this video with my Mobile Broadband connection. You can check out one of those if you want, but in general the process is the same. Activate Internetsharing, give the Network card that is supposed to connect to your PS3 a definate IP and then put into the PS3 the same configurations I did in the Video. The DNS Server has to be put into the PS3, otherwise it wont find your Broadband connection. Many People just skip that step and hope it works. Most times not

Hi. Thanks for the helpful tutorial. I am trying to share my internet connection with another computer. When using a dongle as the internet connection, is the "Home Networking Connection" to be the wifi port (Wireless Network Connection2) or the network card adapter (Wireless Network Connection)? I apologize in advance if this seems like a stupid question. I have already created my Ad Hoc network. A windows7 article said to leave the IP address of the client computer to be dynamic. Tx.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 11 лет назад
Sorry for the late answer. You probably have a Windows Basic/Home version. Those have Ad-Hoc disabled. Your Windows can still do it though. You can try using connectify.me . Thats a software that should be able to force Ad-hoc on your Windows.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 11 лет назад

Please explain how it is unstable? Can you not access the internet at times? or are there problems with connecting the Computers? As far as I know for a direct connection between 2 PCs you need a special kind of Network cable called crossover. It looks just like a normal one only that there are some cables connected differently inside. On the other hand you could just have some settings wrong, so can you go into detail please?
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 13 лет назад
@MrDeathbreaker Can I just ask why you need to do this anyway since you seem to have a Wireless router that is connected to the Internet? In case I understood you wrong. The DNS Servers appear on the Network connection that is connected to the Internet, it does not have to be the wireless card.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 11 лет назад
If you do everything correctly your Computer will start trying to call if your Xbox is online and the Numbers shown tell you how stable the connection is. The less seconds it needs for the call to be answerd the better. If it says "Packages got lost" that usually means a weak Signal. Hope I could be of help.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 11 лет назад
If your Windows shows connected thats actually bad. Since it should only say that once something connected to it. When waiting for a connection it should say "waiting". You may need to input a password to be safe. Now, when your Ipod doesnt show a connection at all, that usually means it doesnt support this connection. You can still try to download connectify.me and try with that. This connection failed me on my Android too, but connectify still got it working. So give it a try.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 11 лет назад
It should, but use Connectify.me . It works with less problems and I usually use that for my Android too. Although I use this method as well to send my Internet to my Wireless router where my Cell can connect without having to use connectify.me, but in that case you really have to get the IP and DNS configurations right.

@Tiago615 Connection point meaning the Network I assume. As stupid as it sounds, if your Computer is not sending anything, then the PS3 cant help you. I always suggest to get the connection running between 2 Computers first. Once you know for sure that the Connection works you can turn on your PS3 and have fun, but as long as you dont know if what you configured even works properly, you are going to get very angry at the Error messages you will get.

I will soon try to put up a Video showing the Setup on Android. You have to put in the DNS Server like I did in this Video for Computer 2. It does not work automatically. You have to search where to edit the Wifi configurations and change the IP selection (mostly found at the bottom area of the window) to Static. Then you can put in the configs I explained in this video.

??? I only meant that if you do it like I suggested Modem-Desktop-Laptop-PS3, then you cannot set the laptop to share internet since the Desktop is already doing that. But your PS3 will still find the Desktop with the IP 192.168.0.1 and through that connect to the Modem.

@rahul61961915 You need to be specific where you are stuck, my guess is that your PSP is not able to find the Network. In that case you will want to check if the Computer is waiting for another Computer to Join the network, if it writes "Disconnected" then you have to hit connect and try finding it again with your PSP
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 12 лет назад
Thats the point of the whole tutorial. Its to make your Computer the router.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 11 лет назад
Whats wrong? Doesnt it give you a Network to select? When your Computer has just 2 Connections there is no need for you to specify since it only can be the second one. If the Tab is not there at all I fear you have a Home or Basic Version of Windows, those have the Tab removed. Connectify.me can go around that though. Hope I could help.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 11 лет назад
If you ask this Question, you might not be able to follow this Tutorial. Still, there are Wireless Cards for the USB port. So you can just plug it into your Computer and start using it.
@maximumrisk2004
@maximumrisk2004 12 лет назад
Oops, I made a mistake. If you use the Laptop, then you cannot set it to share internet. It will still do it without, but if you do Windows will automatically force your Laptop to take the 192.168.0.1 IP and that makes trouble. So forget about the part where I said to enable internet sharing like on Computer 1.

@wackattack13 What is it that basic is missing in your opinion and either way there may be others who may just have the upgraded version. I got asked to show how its done and here it is. I just cant believe that simple Internet Sharing is not enabled in Basic.

I would like to but I dont have one. Normally if your PSP doesnt find it, then your Computer might not be sending it. So make sure the Computer is connecting.
