Let's start sheathing! Nothing too crazy in this video, but some tips on sheathing. As you can see this is Zip System, so we can set the panels, tape them and then be dried in.

Oh and another takeaway, if you use a drone for commercial work, you need to be part107 certified. Commercial work includes social media like RU-vid if you plan to make an income off of that. I watched a video about this last May and then purchased the Part 107 Course sso.teachable.... I studied and learned for 1 month and then took my test. I scored a 95%, which is a testament to how good Greg and the crew over there teach. That link will save you $100 off the course and support this channel.

I subscribe to your channel because you either follow the safety rules or do your very best to follow the rules. You set a good consistent example (dancing is for another discussion😃). I applaud you taking taking the time to mention the important details like chafe guards on the anchor point. Safety is so simple. As the owner of my body shop said one afternoon - “These smashed and dented cars are here because someone did not follow the instructions”.
@AwesomeFramers
@AwesomeFramers Год назад
yeah, the key point is "do your best to follow the rules". Most of the time they aren't difficult.

@@AwesomeFramers I ended up in the hospital because someone did not follow the rules. I was dressed head to toe in Hi-viz - I am certain I was visible from the space station. I was out of work for three years. Besides the surgeries it was 5 hours of therapy everyday for those years and still have to do some everyday. I really do appreciate your commitment to safety. It is a pleasure to know everyone on your crew has a good chance of going home at the end of the day - thank you for the great videos.

Thanks for the great content Tim! Just finished my building apprenticeship over her in New Zealand (from the states originally). Long time follower, first time commenter haha, and really appreciate the informational aspect to your videos. Quick question, how do you handle your collar ties? Saw some in this video but can't remember seeing them in the previous roof framing video. Is it something that's different for each house? Does the engineer specify something? Any opinions as to their effectiveness up near the ridge beam as opposed to mid span or lower? What sort of fixings do you use? In this house is the ceiling going to end up being mostly vaulted then flat where it meets the collar ties? Keep up that mahi.
@AwesomeFramers
@AwesomeFramers Год назад
Collar ties in the IRC have to be in the upper 1/3, so we install them right under the ridge. I don't recall (its in chapter 4 I think) but I think its 4 nails per rafter and minimum 1x material

You may have mentioned this before so please remind me why you stagger joints on the roof but not the walls.

Makita hose with max nailer….best of the best. I prefer when the hose goes from the top then down otherwise it feels like it’s dragging with every shot

I tend to think of over-engineering as putting a ton of thought and planning into something to marginally improve it in some small way, i.e. reducing weight or fasteners slightly. It can be annoying because oftentimes it is faster, cheaper, and easier just to overbuild the thing and not worry about it.

I can't believe people frame roofs 24" OC and then only use 40/20 APA with not span blocks.

Would it help to adjust air pressure by attaching a small pressure regulator to the gun or manifold on the eave with a 3/8 inch or bigger airline going to the compressor and individual air regulator attach to the manifold to feed the gun.
@AwesomeFramers
@AwesomeFramers Год назад
yep, but with the high pressure system we usually don't need to adjust. We had it adjusted higher since we'd been shooting down sill to concrete. It became a "teachable moment" 😀

I thought you had to use 5/8" osb to avoid using H-clips? Have i been mistaken??? I never use 7/16 osb.
@AwesomeFramers
@AwesomeFramers Год назад
That's generally true, but the 1/2" Zip panels are designed to eliminate ply clips.
