One of the most exciting things in life is getting something in the mail, whether it’s something you ordered, a surprise gift from a friend, a gift for the holidays or a postcard. The medium “flat rate” box you showed was actually a “mailing box” which goes by weight & distance. USPS clerk right here! Took me a while to learn everything but once you learn it it’s easy! If you’re shipping within your state I’d recommend a “mailing box” rather than a flat rate, the pricing will be cheaper! Also the weight limit is 70 pounds even on the flat rates :)

@B Jordan if you're paying for the shipping at the post office, yes. if you do the labeling online & pay less than what you're supposed to its a 50/50 chance you'll get caught or not.

Hey so I want to ship to the UK and thought of using the flat rate envelope. I'm kinda confused because there's no weight limit but then when i check the postage price calculator there's a 4lb max weight. I just wanted to ship small light clothes to the UK. I think the medium flat rate box is just a $1 more than the envelope? Any help would be great :)

I'm not really familiar with international shipping, but it seems like since different countries have different weight restrictions, USPS has weight limits for their international flat rate options. So if your clothes don't weight under the 4lbs, you'll have to go with the box.

For books you might want to use MEDIA shipment and not the flat rate envelope. Most time it is much cheaper.

This helped me a lot. I needed to ship a PS4, Nintendo Switch, and a few Blu-ray movies cross country, and I was pulling my hair out of what box to get. You can't really tell the scale of the boxes on the website and I'm terrible with measurements.

Glad to help :) So if you printed out a shipping label (if you paid for postage online) then you can stick it on the top of the box. If you're writing/printing out both your address and theirs, you put your address at the top left corner and their address in the center of the top of the box.

Hi I have two questions, so if I write in the shipping label hand written with my ow bought envelope for clothes do I still need a stamp? Or is me handwriting in the addresses on the package enough? Also, if I where to for example send a t shirt or hoodie would it be cheaper to send it thru the USPS boxes or just use my own ( this is with the shipping price of course)? I'm new at this and high key don't know what I'm doing lol.

No matter if you hand write the addresses or not you'll still have to pay postage. Stamps won't be enough. It's best to just go to the post office and have them tell you the exact postage and pay there. I think your best option would be to use a USPS priority or flat rate box. With the Priority Flat Rate boxes the max weight is 70 lbs, so you should be good.

You can close it, tape it up and add the addresses! They don't need to see what's inside.

Everything in our how-to's are from USPS' website. We like our information to be the most accurate, so we like getting it directly from the source: www.usps.com/ship/priority-mail.htm Here it says for Priority mail you can "ship up to 70 lbs to any state at the same price."

Question. I'm trying to ship a laptop but it's length and width are 20 by 16, so if I use another box from somewhere else, will USPS still accept it. and also on the box in your vid it said To and From; but do you mean like the exact street address ,area code etc?

Yeah you can use a regular box and ship it Priority. You just have to tell the cashier you'd like to ship it Priority. And for the To and From you put the addresses: your name, then under that the house number and street, and then under that the city, state and zip code.

I'm not entirely sure if they will since it's not the same box you used. All the boxes have their own rates. If there was no option on stamps, your best option was probably to go to the post office and pay the correct postage there.

Quick question when I tracked my package it said it was held at the post office and then when I tracked it again the next day it said it was delivered does this mean usps re delivered it to my po box after 15 days or does this mean it got delivered to the sender after 15 days because I contacted usps and they said that packages are held for 15 days and then are returned to the sender after 15 days but I just want to know if it says delivered in the tracking after 15 days does that mean usps redivided it to my po box or does that mean it got delivered to the sender

I am not entirely sure for your case. Have you toggled down the Tracking History to see where and when your package was. It might show where it was delivered to.

If you have a prepaid label, all you have to do is stick it on the package and drop it off at the post office. You don't have to pay for any kind of shipping.

Question, do you recommend putting the package in the blue mail box at the corner or should we go to a postal office. And if we do, is there a specific place to put the prepaid packages that the buyer paid for?

You can't put them in the blue mail box, you have to go to the post office. If you don't have a prepaid postage shipping label on it you have to buy the postage at the post office. If you do have the prepaid postage shipping label, then at the post office they usually have a window you can drop it off at, you'll just have to ask where.

For the greatest protection, I'd go with small boxes. With the bubble wrap, they're more likely to get smooshed.

I guess it would depend on if you're shipping a bunch of them together or just individually. If individually, it would probably be better to use a box that's just a little bit bigger than the cereal box and ship it priority. I think it'll be cheaper than using a medium priority box because it doesn't weigh much.

I have a question… so I used those boxes for OfferUp sales but when I took them to the post office the guy said I couldn’t use the label from the customer who paid for shipping. The guy at the post office said I can’t use that label for this boxes because it was express shipping. I’m confused why?

It depends what the label's postage is for. So if it's for Priority Express, you'd have to use a Priority Express box or a regular box since that's the postage that was purchased. If it's for Priority then you'd have to use a Priority box or a regular box.

Im trying to find an answer to what kind of box i can put a " first class" shipping label on. I just ordered flat rate priority boxes from my PO but just realised i can only use priority labels on those boxes...ughhhh some help me😭😭😭im new

There are no branded boxes for first class mail, you'll have to use your own boxes. The max dimensions for the box are 22 in long x 18 in wide x 15 in thick. You'd also have to make sure the total package's weight with everything in it is less than 15.999 ounces. I'd try ULINE or Staples to find a box.

We have a how-to (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jnYebJiLvr8.html) on buying USPS Priority postage online and printing out a shipping label to put on the box/envelope. With that all you have to do is drop it off at the post office.

For some reason your comment ended up in the the spam folder, so sorry for getting back to you pretty late. Has the status changed yet? I'm not really sure what the tracking status should say for a stopped shipment. From forums people say that they're had that status for days like the package got lost, while others say that it'll say "In Transit" because it's being returned to the sender and whatnot. Sorry I can't really answer your question with any accurate answers. But I hope it all works out!
