That's the best part, tho im annoyed had 3 gzk bands of a well known maker and 2 snapped pretty much straight away less than 10 shots fired on each the other lasted a couple of weeks then snapped all snapped right at the pouch, just had to order more only thing keeping me sane at the moment
@@pinkypete6079 Look into adding elastic cuffs to over the area where the pouch and bands attach. It only takes a few moments and has extended my band life appreciably. Beyond that, I use tubes as well as flats...tubes are MUCH more durable.
@@pinkypete6079 its good to experiment and try different set ups etc.... Different elastics, and different cuts for different ammo,......but at the end of the day,.....you can't go wrong with TBG. I'm quite sure that if everyone who knows anything about slingshots was honest, they'd agree that Theraband Gold is the one elastic that will never let you down. I don't know if this helps mate..? But fro my own experiences.......if your bands are tearing at the pouch prematurely, it could well be that the pouch ties are too tight? I've actually tested out all this kind of stuff myself. If the ties are too tight at the pouch end, it deffo doesn't do em any favours. 3 light wraps, then tuck and wrap 2 more times. Works for me. 🤝👍
@@jimmy66603 cheers mate at the moment I can't afford to buy lots of different band sets as they are pretty expensive I've just ordered 3 more from gkj let's hope these last a bit longer I'm only shooting 6mm steel at about 5 to 10 metres
Yes, yes! I am just getting back to it, but that is one of the key tips I have given rifle shooters, especially for small game hunting where we tend to have our heart rate up, and most shots are from a standing position. It's not where you are when you commit to the shot, it's where you are going to be when the shot leaves the weapon. There is a very finite time from commitment and the actual shot, and you will move during that time. I will try to fall into whatever pattern I see naturally, but absent any obvious pattern, I like to cross the target diagonally, usually from top left to bottom right for the shot, and back in a shallow oval until it feels right. Learning to commit just before you are on target, knowing how long it will take to fire, and to be on the target, is what it's about. Sounds harder than it is to develop the timing itself, it's more the discipline to embrace the movement, create a consistency to it and use it to your advantage. It's not as different from pass shooting with a shotgun as most people think it is, like leading a bird, in reverse and on a much smaller scale.
Idc if this is 10 months ago but yea I feel like controlled movement and the dominant hand is the only thing u need rlly but it won’t be as good as an outcome that way if u didn’t get down the rest of the steps. And I think ammo is important and the material on the pouch is with the ammo on it.
You Sir are the best and coolest slingshot instructor ever. Thanks so much for sharing your passion and your most valuable tips; being a beginner in the matter I really appreciate the time you put in these tutorials. Thank a million man!
As kids in Africa we made our catapults from tree branch forks and bicycle tyre rubbers and goat hides. Effective but elasticity would fade after regular use. Fun stuff
Great tutorial. Covered the most important steps to becoming good with a catty. Spot on......, if you miss, just keep going until you tick everything off the list as to why you missed. Nice one. 👍
Thanks for sharing. Just picking it back up. Haven’t shot since I was a kid. Glad to get tips on the proper mechanics. Then like anything else it’s repetition and consistency in my opinion
That's exactly what we are doing. Go to work in the morning then stay home and shoot with my boy. We had similar steps when learning archery and golf. I have applied the same steps to catapults and it has been a great help. This was a great video brother. I am looking forward to the next one. Take care and stay safe Cheers from Canada🇨🇦
Good advice 👍🏻 a lot of ppl will get to say half the steps with plenty of practice and notice a big improvement in there shootin so much so they think well I’m smashing it now from a range of 10 meters let’s say and think I’m good enough to hunt with this setup now !! And this is were a lot of people go wrong ! As there’s no limit on a hunting shot at game some shots can be within there range and they nail it , but u and I know that’s only the handy shots! I’d advise people to seriously listen to what you’ve to say take in what your telling them step by step!! No jumping from step 2 to 5 just cos you’ve had a good day on the spinner , can watever.. but if they were to seriously take in and truly listen to what your putting across follow it through step by step with heaps of practice and I reckon you’ll explain cleAr enough about reference and anchor for different style shots , I keep going back to hunting simply because it’s the most real situation your going to be in for learning properly to take game as shots will come in all different lengths hieght etc . So the same reference and even anchor doesn’t work for a range of different style shots ! It’s one of the reasons I never stood with just one frame. I practiced as many different size frames style frames till I individually mastered as many as I felt I needed and still do even now but I do have certain frames for certain situations. Great start to a person starting off 👍🏻if ok with u I’ll refer newer. Members to wAtch this, we all know there’s lots of different tips and advice out there but to me this is a very good starting point if folks take it step by step with a frame that’s suited to them and keep at it till they’ve each step drilled into them !! Cheers good on u for the hoe Too’s 👍🏻
Great video for us newbies. Sometimes dominant hand is on the opposite side as the dominant eye. The eye wins every time. We're the weirdos that shoot a pistol right handed and a rifle left handed.
Great channel and tips my friend. I can bare witness to all of this. I don’t know how I lived on this earth for 42 years before I got into it. It’s more fun than I have had in awhile. Great info here!
took all the advise again pal remeber the one you did the woods couple year ago that help me loads cheers pal my catch box as had some hammering over the last week take it easy 👍
Chris, I think you are a very good shot with your catapult. I want to thank you for giving us some helpful information to shoot better. I had to watch this video again. Thanks Jack
Been keen to get involved , but took my time 1st and did some homework before rushing in. Just ordered my 1st Catapult, so looking forward to applying the principle once it lands. thankyou for the informative vlogs
Many thanks for sharing that picked up a few more tips and am already starting to enjoy shooting slingshots and I now feel am starting to get somewhere lol....
I found a step 5 to be very helpful, I was always trying to a my catapult as I do my rifle, this new information makes me much more accurate. Thank you.
I've just got into shooting catty these tips are brilliant hopefully i will be able to put them into practice at some point when I'm not so busy thanks for this @catapult carnage aka Chris
Thanks mate, that pretty much reminds me of the Tennis service and the Golf swing. Since I’m new to the slingshot hobby thinking about consistency helped me a lot in the first week with 500 shots. And the revenge is there when I neglected one of the steps. Great explanation, Chris, thanks again. Cheers!
Thanks chris my dominant hand is right And my dominant eye is left I shoot with my eye so holding my frame with my right hand do you think I should have learned to shoot with my left hand instead?
Great video, Chris...as always. Been following you for a year and practicing a lot...went starling hunting today because they fly in the chicken coop and eat the chicken feed. Got three. Thanks for all the help and accuracy tips. Also, had to cancel the Ireland trip because we can't fly in...hope to reschedule for next year...bummed about not getting to meet you this summer.
Somehow I ended up with your video. Glad I did. Talking about drawing with your dominant hand and dominant eye. I'm cross dominant. My left eye is dominant and my right arm is dominant. I never knew this until I took archery in college. My professor found out after my arrows were going everywhere but the target. A simple eye trick showed that I was cross dominant. Now I shoot archery left handed and I'm quite accurate. Sling shots are not legal where I live to hunt with, but I'm going to start shooting anyway. We aren't out of the woods just yet economically here and I want to be certain I can harvest proteins if it came down to it.
well i thought i was very good for a beginner but i have to aim inches below the target-i cant wait to try adjusting and keeping my anchor point consistent!
Does using tubular bands make a difference? I keep practicing with all these steps but just so inconsistent , some shots hit 1in 🎯 and some fly off opposite direction
Great video Chris.. well explained in great detail 👌👌👌 .. i watched all your old how to videos and this is what got me into cattys.. keep it going mate.. 😍😍
Hello, brother. Can you show how you took aim? Because I don't understand you. But I like your engagement. If you could show me how you aim, I would be very happy with the slingshot. Thank you in advance.
Seems to me that my accurate shooting is always when I am concentrating more on the target than on my everything else kind of thing But definitely smooth and steady and not over thinking it!! Great lessons for anyone wanting to improve or who are just starting out
Top video as always🤘 Can we see an update of you catty collection...been a few years since you done one, maybe show us some of the knives you've acquired lately? 😃
Thanks 😊 I'm improving all the time how far away should I start shooting the target at ? And also how important is it to have the correct length elastics?
what good content I am following them in all their videos as they are the best with slingshots. I wish I was like you one day but I'm seeing if I can get a slingshot. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTENT GREETINGS FROM COLOMBIA I speak in English through the translator since I don't know English.
Great info. You said there's a part 2/anchor point video. Can you post a link to that? My aiming point is the lower corner top fork, for some reason I never thought about adjusting my anchor point to change that until you mentioned it in this video! So, I'm interested in learning more on that. Thanks again.
I was putting my fingers on top, bottom of the leather pouch before release. Sidewise is so much better. Thought I'd have inferior friction to hold the pouch, but nope.
I was beating myself trying to figure out why my shots were going over the target every time. And there it is…low anchor point. Will need to try placing my thumb above my cheek bone instead. Thanks man.
@@CatapultCarnage i apreciated your comment, i shoot now with 1 mm whit 8, 10.5 steel at 25 meters in bootle beer, but i want your opinion, please if you can this, thx
