Now finally i understand that every LOG and Gamut actually emulates every famous camera brands. I wish mcpro devs could release some guide or documentation about what LOG and Gamut stands for, so that people who will use it for the first time would not be confused on the setting of the app.

iPhone-type cell phones use good camera applications such as BlackMagic, Cinema P3 and ProMovie, but there was a lack of good camera applications for Android-type cell phones. MCPro 24 FPS has arrived to solve this problem.

Excellent video. I turned off GPU, selected HEVC, but I don't find the option for selecting bit depth. Have you faced that? I am on a SD 8 gen 1

These videos are so helpful, RJ, thanks so much. I've question: I thought of using Android's screencast option to monitor the in-camera image on a laptop, and I was wondering might it be possible to see the monitored image in standard, Rec.709 while my phone records in MLOG?

Thanks for the great video! I've been using this app for a couple of years now and absolutely love it. The problem is that the focus doesn't seem to work properly on my Samsung Note 20 Ultra, in that it can't focus to infinity, so I can't focus on distant objects. Are you aware of this issue, and do you know if it exists with the S23 Ultra?

The 10 bit color setting in the app on LG V60 comes out oversaturated no matter what the settings. Any ideas?

Yeah its a HDR metadata problem. Your phone isn't viewing it the proper way but when you take it into an editing program like Davinci Resolve it will display the colors properly (not saturated)

Sorry if this is a dumb question as I'm new to this, but for all your log examples, it says your ISO was 50 and shutter at 1/1600 for all tests - did you mean the other way around? I thought shutter was supposed to be 180 over fps. thanks!

Hi there. Yes, ideally a shutter speed of 1/50 or 1/48 (for 24fps) is perfect for cinematic natural motion blur but I was shooting outdoors in the brightest noonday sunlight and did not bring an ND filter with me on that particular shoot. So I had to resort to cranking the shutter speed super fast to minimize the light exposure and the ISO 50 was the lowest ISO setting of that device.

This was really helpful thank you soo much.... Also how do i shoot in 10 bit on this app?... And since u mentioned that turning off GPU allows us to shoot in 10bit does that mean i can shoot 10bit HDR on smartphones using midrange chipsets like the redmi note 10 pro?

Hi Abner, to shoot in 10-bit you'll have to turn off GPU, change the codec to HVEC and then select 10bits for COLOR DEPTH. I believe as long as your Redmi phone uses a Snapdragon chipset (no more than 3 years old) you should have 10 bit available.

can you make a video about which gamut to use with which log profile? suppose, do we have to use s-gamut for mS-log profiles or we can use sRGB/Rec709?

Technically you could use any gamut and gamma curve (log profile) but the pairings in the samples I showed where the intended combinations as recommended by the developers.

This would depend per phone device. But generally, it should work with the wide camera.

Great for color grading, but for some reason my footage using LOG profiles has always some sort of red color tint or whatever in the footage.

A few users have mentioned that sometimes there's a tendency for mcpro footage to have an orangey tint. I haven't noticed it myself with my device. Could be a device-specific problem.

Is it recommended log profiles for 8-bit video shooting? Or just for 10-bit? Which profile can you recommend for 8-bit video shooting?

You can still use LOG for 8-bit video shooting. 8-bit just means you have less wiggle space when it comes to color correcting/grading than 10-bit. I would recommend a Log profile that isnt too flat or extreme. The mLog 80% is a good one for 8bit

@@RJBaculo I'm new to all of this and I will be starting to use my Pixel 6 Pro on my Diving trips to shoot video underwater. Its only 8-bit so here you suggest the mLog80% what about the gamma curve that you mentioned what would be a good one to combine with the mLog80% or should I just go 709 all the way? Also with mcpro24fps are you allowed to set shooting profiles presets Like if I want a preset for when i'm videoing on land and another preset for underwater or do I have to set them manually each time I get ready to film?

In MotionCam there's more color information since its Raw, and also its actually less sharper, because thats the natural image before the smartphone software oversharpens it

If your phone doesn't support 10-bit at all, then there's no way around it. But if your phone does support 10-bit then you have to turn off GPU in Mcpro to access it.

Its an amazing and revolutionary app! Sadly, since I've switched to the iPhone 14 Pro, my older Samsung S10 (Exynos chipset) doesn't work so well with the Raw video capabilities of the app. Wish I had a more recent Android phone to really get the best out of MotionCam

On Android, this is the cheapest (and one-time payment own forever) app that can shoot in Log. The other alternatives are subscription-based apps like Protake (expensive) and Filmic Pro (super expensive)

A gimmick is something flashy with no substance and made to appeal to the masses. This app has technical features only advanced users and serious filmmakers would appreciate. And compared to the other pro apps with expensive subscription models, I'd say it's good value.
