You get the first shot right, but you are already keyed up for the second, which you know is going to appear on report. Champion shot Ben Husthwaite gives his tips on how to remain cool and give that second clay everything you gave the first.

I just recently found these videos. Excellent videos and detailed explanations of the process for shooting. Ben is great at explaining the process. Using the ShotKam to see the shots is better than other videos I have watched. My own ShotKam videos show my second hold point drifting around. I see now that I need to get better at fixing the second hold point. Dave is "master" at getting to the hold points and being steady. Please make a video on a true pair set of birds. Dave is a great shooter as well. Thanks, ben and Dave, for a great job! Jim - Georgia,USA

The instructions on pre-Shot routine, view point, hold point and kill point are great! I tried them in a sporting clays shoot last week and broke 89 of 100. My missed birds were mostly loss of focus on my part

Fantastic and informative video, why is Ben getting such little time to share his expertise? This guy is a class act wish he was given more time to impart his knowledge, don’t think anyone can come close be way of simple, clear and concise instruction. Really breaks it all down and explains it so simply. Wish he was available for coaching in Scotland.

Noticed your student re-grips forestock after 1st shot. In IPSC (practical pistol) competition, this can slow you down or push your front sight off center for 2nd shot. Is it something to correct in Sporting Clays, or not to worry about, because there is time to reset between shots? Thanks for these great vids!

That's pretty sound. At the clay ground I'm too fixated on staring down the barrel looking into the abyss waiting for a clay to appear. So what youre student did was find his hold point, then fixed glance at the trap until the clay found the hold point? Or did I see that wrong?

Great video, would love to hear BH's approach to quartering in birds. Especially those quick ones that dive under your feet and end up being lost to the side. Have found i can only do these sustained lead...do you pull away on those as well?

Great video, thanks. Just one point of terminology. The correct term in FITASC for a following pair on report, is 'rafal' not 'raphael'. It's a french word which literally means 'a gust'. I know this because I live and shoot my clays in France. By the way, The french respect the fact that so many UK shooters have won major FITASC Sporting championships. I think that part of the reason for this dominance is that most british FITASC shooters start out on English Sporting: The fact that we are always shooting pairs, and there is no second shot on single targets makes for a more disciplined learning curve, and better gun mounting on pairs. When I first started shooting FITASC, I used to feel I didn't really deserve my second barrel kills, after a few years of shooting it, I now feel uncomfortable if I load only a single cartridge! Any thoughts?

Learned something new. Here in the States, I'd not heard of Rafal targets. They are always sim. or On Report. The latest gen. French fighter jet also has the name 'Rafal'. Cheers.

Your an amazing coach but why does he always get beat on the bird. For example, on the rabbit you let the bird pass you then you have to speed your hands up and try and get in front of it. Wouldn’t it be easier to stay on it then give your pre determined lead??

Why would you use a top gun like Krieghoff and wrap black tape around the grip. It looks bloody terrible.
